To think there’s no way you can wipe your bum clean?

Born in a mixed race family with a Middle Eastern mother, I was always taught to wash my downstairs with water after no 1s and 2s. We have a built in mini shower head thing to just spray our bums clean, and before that we used to have a jug sort of thing.

I’ve always wondered, do you genuinely think your bum is clean if you only wipe?

The way I see it, if someone dropped a few drops of urine or fecal matter on my flooring at home, I’d scrub it clean and atleast use some water. No way would I give it a wipe clean with a dry wad of tissue! So how can your skin be clean….

Am I missing something? Do you wet the tissue before use?

Sorry for the silly question! Have always wondered.

@MrsLargeEmbodied only if you have an open wound! 🧐🥴🙄

Unmerited · 13/12/2021 07:46

But it’s not your hands. That would be completely different?

glimpsing · 13/12/2021 07:47

@MrsLargeEmbodied would it? Don't know but people used to use it for happy changes.as I said 8 used aloe Vera gel. That is soothing. I started using it during cancer treatment a few years back as the chemo made me constipated. Aloe Vera is lovely for the purpose.

Rubyupbeat · 13/12/2021 07:47

Not always 'just' a hygiene or cleanliness issue. My bottom becomes literally raw, to the point of bleeding, if not washed after each movement, this has occurred since I've got older. Indoors it's okay, as I have the facility to clean myself, but I have to carry toilet tissue wipes when out, I hate having to use them, but its the only way.

glimpsing · 13/12/2021 07:47

Nappy changes!

Cyrilgoggin · 13/12/2021 07:48

Blimey I've got to my mid 50s just wiping my bum with toilet paper. Never caused me a problem yet. Who knew people could be so 'anal' about this!

riotlady · 13/12/2021 07:48

How much “residue” are you all getting that it requires scrubbing with wipes/baby lotion/spray bottles? Confused

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2021 07:48

@OhPeeQueue

Which 'other part of your body'? confused Where are all these faeces ending up?

Obviously meant theoretically. If you got poo on your hands, would you wipe it with dry tissue? For example, carers May get poo on their arms when cleaning patients. You may get poo on your hands cleaning baby/toddler?

Oh I was thinking some people's personal wiping of themselves was a bit slapdash maybe. Carers and people changing nappies would obviously use soap and water after, that's a given. (the same as washing your hands after using the loo yourself)
glimpsing · 13/12/2021 07:49

@Rubyupbeat, the aloe Vera is lovely. You could get a small tube of that to use with ordinary loo roll. No plumbing issues with that.Smile

Kinsters · 13/12/2021 07:50

We have a bidet and it's great. I don't always use it myself but for cleaning babies/toddlers it's super handy (also great for post birth pees/washing).

MrsLargeEmbodied · 13/12/2021 07:50

yes, perhaps baby lotion wouldnt hurt, we do use it for babies afterall.

WheekestLink · 13/12/2021 07:51

I got such a shock when I went to my first toilets in SE Asia but quickly came to realise that it's sooooo much cleaner to wash afterwards.

Tabbacus · 13/12/2021 07:53

I wonder how long the thread would last if someone was saying ew how unclean and cross to use water.

Snowmanuel · 13/12/2021 07:53

Hilarious. I never thought I’d see people falling all over themselves to prove how clean they keep their arseholes.

Tabbacus · 13/12/2021 07:53

Gross*

RedHot22 · 13/12/2021 07:53

Baby lotion won’t hurt your bottom.
It’s been used for years to clean baby’s bottoms.

I would shove it up my vag though

Gretaburley · 13/12/2021 07:54

My Aunty always bought this.
Like tracing paper and just moved the poo round on your bum hole!

To think there’s no way you can wipe your bum clean?
santasmuma · 13/12/2021 07:54

You wouldn’t wipe faeces off of any other part of your body with tissue and consider it clean.

I wouldn't use a trickle of water and expect it to be clean either!

arcticfoxed · 13/12/2021 07:54

@tara66

'Wipes' of any sort are absolutely polluting to the planet and big NO NOs!! They do not degrade and bloke the sewage systems!
You can get ones designed to be ok for flushing. Calm down.
suckingonchillidogs · 13/12/2021 07:54

No wonder the queue for the ladies is always so long if you're all getting your special poo bottles out for an extra rinse.

oakleaffy · 13/12/2021 07:54

Wet wipes are full of plastics and desperately bad for the planet...and plumbing systems.

They cause untold problems -vile things.

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2021 07:55

DuchessSilver · 13/12/2021 07:57

I clean mine using the Organised Bum Method

gsaoej · 13/12/2021 07:57

I think that wiping will actually be cleaner than spraying with water, unless there is soap involved. You know those hand washing videos they do for kids showing how much remains on hands if you only use water?

Tal45 · 13/12/2021 07:57

I use dry toilet roll and don't shower daily as we don't have a shower. I've never understood how a bidet works - why are they so low?? I just don't expect my butt hole to be bacteria free - in fact no part of you is bacteria free anyway as they live on your skin.
Personally I think using water and your hand is much grosser.
