What would you go for?

I think I’d be Indian, so much diversity, southern Indian fish curries, northern vegetarian curries, chaat, parathas, biryianis

Chapshuro
Hoi lo garma
Mamtu
Haleem

@TrishM80

I like Italian food but what do Italians have for breakfast typically?

I see a lot of people chose Indian. I know a few people, my brother included, who visited India and they said every meal was some kind of curry dish. I like curries but the idea of having curry for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day sounds like a nightmare to me!

They use lots of spices but saying every Indian dish is curry is like saying every British dish is a stew. Or maybe he visited a different India from me, I found it hugely varied!

For me I think it would be Middle Eastern (maybe Lebanese if I have to pick a country) or Thai.

Portuguese.

I lived there for a while. They've incorporated a lot of Brazilian cuisine into theirs eg feijado and who can resist a post prandial bica and pastel de nata.

LadyWithLapdog · 12/12/2021 08:27

Indian for me. Love curries and I could have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks in between.

Your brother was wrong. Every Indian dish is not "curry" whatever that means. I cook and eat Indian daily and it is not curry. But every dish does have seasoning and spices.

In India I’ve eaten very lovely freshly made Dhosas and spiced porridge (forgotten name) plus the best mangos and other fruit ever etc etc.

Practicebeingpatient · 12/12/2021 08:49

I love lots of food from all over the world and I mainly eat vegetarian but every few weeks I start craving a rare steak I think it's the one foodstuff I couldn't live without so I guess on that basis it would have to be French cuisine so I could indulge in steak frites when I needed it.

mangomama91 · 12/12/2021 08:52

Italian.
No need to even think about it

Dosas Idlis Utthapams Adai Poha Upma Parathas Puris Pongal

just a few of the many no-curry Indian dishes. Often tourists only try a certain kind of Indian cuisine.

supergloo · 12/12/2021 08:57

Thai for me too. A huge range and with a french influence.

TheVolturi · 12/12/2021 08:59

India.

WalkingOnTheCracks · 12/12/2021 09:00

Do we have to have wine from the same place?

GiantHaystacks2021 · 12/12/2021 09:02

Italian.

HeronLanyon · 12/12/2021 09:03

Oh yes janis had many forgot ! Best ever breakfasts tbh.

BusBusBus · 12/12/2021 09:05

British. I like how it has seasons as we have seasonal weather and I like how it has influences from round the world that are very well established.
I know people say its bland but I think there are seasonal herbs, fruit and veg that give things a lot of flavour. I dont find trout with watercress at one point of the year at all like venison with juniper at another.
Other that that malaysian..

sophiasnail · 12/12/2021 09:07

Yorkshire. Fish and Chips from Whitby, roast dinners and anything with "Yorkshire" on the packet.

Porcupineintherough · 12/12/2021 09:12

Turkish or Lebanese.
Then Thai.

furbabymama87 · 12/12/2021 09:15

English.

Lanaa · 12/12/2021 09:17

Jamaican. Patties, hard dough bread, rice cooked 100 ways, stew peas, tasty hearty soups, salt fish, ackee, escovitch fish, fried chicken, dumplings both ways, roti, stew chicken, curry chicken, breadfruit, Mac and cheese. Bun & cheese! It never gets boring. Best food in the world!
