@Blossom64265

Most years I make my cards by hand. I have always toyed with the idea of knitting or cross-stitching on the cards. This thread is making me think about knitting tiny scarves. I just have to figure out the full scene, and start soon because I am a slow knitter.
@Blossom64265 Lovely idea... What about some cut out silhouette snowman and thread the scarf though, although can't make it too thick.

I haven't sent any, never do, and haven't received any. I don't find any purpose to them myself. Any I get I'll put up for a few days and then recycle.

JalfreziAtChristmas · 09/12/2021 19:33

Not had a one yet! I must be very disliked.

I posted mine today.

Blossom64265 · 09/12/2021 19:39

@toughtoes. I like how you think. I love ⛄️

Handmade cards arrive from MIL but that just makes me feel even worse when they get binned/recycled. Can’t even always do that if they’re glittery.

Rainartist · 10/12/2021 07:40

I've just fended off a scarf recommendation from DM! She bought me two 3 months ago for my birthday!Grin

I was wondering about cards too, only had one in post and one in person, but then I only posted mine yesterday despite them being written a week.

Rainartist · 10/12/2021 07:43

My boys don't send them but their school is still doing the weird isolate the post thing still Confused. All cards must be in today to be given to kids on Monday!

Scarby9 · 10/12/2021 07:45

I've had 3 so far.
I haven't even bought mine yet.

LakieLady · 10/12/2021 07:46

I'll only send one, to MIL, as she's very traditional.

No-one else I know bothers with them and I think they're a waste of perfectly good trees.

londonrach · 10/12/2021 07:46

The cards I sent second class has arrived. Had three so far.

UnsuitableHat · 10/12/2021 07:52

I’ve had 48 Christmas scarves from my mum. Go no contact if you’ve only had one 😀

Cards- had about 7. Wiring and posting mine now-ish.

MrsLarry · 10/12/2021 08:02

Haven't sent Christmas cards for years. Most people I know don't. We all give to charity instead.

Queeen · 10/12/2021 08:08

I've received half a dozen. All from my daughter, who is six (half home-made, half from a pack).
My stepmother gives us all a card each (both children get a lovely personal one, as do I). She gets two from us – one handmade from my daughter, then a nice individually-bought (as in, not in a pack) personal one.
I'll get cards for my kids soon, I actually keep them every year.
Not received any more, and doubt we will as we recently moved house and no one's asked for the address.

Itloggedmeoutagain · 10/12/2021 08:15

Rather have a scarf than a card any day

RestingMurderousFace · 10/12/2021 12:00

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

I’ve had a card from my Dogs’ Trust ‘adoptee’. Xmas Smile
That's the only card worth having. Xmas Smile
toughtoes · 13/12/2021 17:32

I now have ... drummer boy drum roll please 🥁 2 Christmas cards .. so I've doubled overnight bit like omicron

My Christmas cards I sent Wednesday have arrived ( my mum gave me the heads up) A bit slow even for 2nd class I'd say.

I think Christmas scarves sound brilliant, made of soft wool and dyed deep green and patterned with ancient blockwork, and smelling faintly of pine needles and ice.

As long as they're not the ubiquitous lovely scarves as gifts for any woman ever over the age of 50, as suggested by MNers since time began.

I don't want a lovely fucking scarf, I want rampant sex
