@Happy1982ish

Please tell me you’re sending second class at least Then you’re spending a whopping £660 on postage

And if you do first class £850

Seriously.

For 50 cards? Are you sure?
BeyondMyWits · 09/12/2021 15:13

Six here... including the one from the council with those really festive bin collection days on it. The rest of the six are really beautiful pictures. Weirdly all have a church, village, Christmas tree and glitter. Must be this year's "thing".

Are you sending yours on horseback or something? I spent 24€ on postage, and most of my cards were sent abroad.
Happy1982ish · 09/12/2021 15:15

I was calculation on 100 cards

So she’s spending

£330 if second class
And £425 if first

My mind boggles

Happy1982ish · 09/12/2021 15:15

If 50 cards the above is correct.

The £630 and £850 was based on 100

Joystir59 · 09/12/2021 15:15

Do you only give them out in order to receive cards back? Pointless imo.

TuftyMarmoset · 09/12/2021 15:16

We’ve had 3 cards but haven’t sent any yet. I’ll do it next week…
I’m in my 20s but grew up giving a card to everyone in my class and it’s a hard habit to kick Xmas Grin

MsAgnesDiPesto · 09/12/2021 15:16

Second class stamps are 66p this year. So 50 of them would be £33.

@Happy1982ish - I think you need some lessons in decimal places!

(It’s still lots to pay, though)

It’s not correct. You’ve got your decimal point in the wrong place.

Your maths is completely off. A first class stamp is 76p. 50 cards at 76p is £38. Where on earth are you getting your numbers from?
TuftyMarmoset · 09/12/2021 15:18

@DorothyZbornakIsAQueen

We've received 1 and I dobt know where to put it.

I don't send them, nor wish to receive them. They make the place look scruffy.

Does this apply to birthday cards as well?

You’ve got your decimal points in the wrong place!

0.66 x 100 = £66.

0.66 x 50 = £33.

Bushkin · 09/12/2021 15:18

I’ve not even knitted mine yet… Grin

Happy1982ish · 09/12/2021 15:19

Apologies!!!! Completely thick of me!!

MsAgnesDiPesto · 09/12/2021 15:19

@ThePoisonousMushroom

Your stamp values are out of date. It’s 84p for first class now. And 66p for second.

Larchneedles · 09/12/2021 15:19

Happy1982ish

Repeating it doesn't make it right. Smile

Larchneedles · 09/12/2021 15:20

Sorry! Just seen your update!

Pegasussnail · 09/12/2021 15:20

Ive only received one card.
I send a few.
Dh sends 20 or so to old uni friends etc

luckylavender · 09/12/2021 15:20

@ZenNudist - rubbish. Fewer are sent granted. But lots of people under 70 send cards.

Yes I just realised that.
Shows when the last time I posted something was!

Happy1982ish · 09/12/2021 15:22

Birthday cards are lovely and special in my opinion
Generally from close friends and family
So they go up for a couple of days

Christmas cards… they make any lounge look like an something cluttered and out of the 40s. So straight in the recycling bin. Thankfully friends and family haven’t sent for years
The ones I have received in recent years have been from neighbours I have no interaction with and just says “with best wishes” or ex colleagues from years ago
Thanks but no thanks

luckylavender · 09/12/2021 15:22

@Happy1982ish - terrible maths!

StoneofDestiny · 09/12/2021 15:22

One neck, one scarf - what's the problem?

Twospaniels · 09/12/2021 15:22

I’ve received 5 so far.

We live in a hamlet of 12 houses and we all send cards to each other and will meet on the green to sing carols together nearer Christmas.

I’ve sent 18 cards by 2nd cl post. Mostly to aunts and uncles who I rarely see and are in their 70’s. Also a couple to people I used to be in regular contact with but now we just write a few newsy lines at Christmas.

Sending and receiving less and less though.
