Do you remember Heather Mills?

I have been watching the Beatles documentary and got to thinking about her.

She was in the papers constantly in the 2000s, I remember her being painted as an absolute con artist witch. I googled a few articles about her from the time of the divorce. They are brutal in the misogynistic tone, she’s labelled as a slag, a goer, ex prostitute, you name it.

I don’t think papers write about women in such hash terms anymore. Maybe she was a bit of a twat, whoever married Saint Paul would have suffered at that time I think.

I suppose by AIBU is are the press less misogynistic.

There is a thousand million in a billion. 24 million was pocket change to Paul. He is tight.

I’d be very surprised if all of Paul McCartneys properties aren’t held in Trust funds. He won’t officially “own” them anyway. So Heather Mills would have no rights over them anyway.
Iirc she bought houses during their marriage, I presumably the money for those came from Paul.

Wait.... I have spent the last 15 years thinking that she was the woman that made all the veggie sausages etc in the supermarket- under her Heather McCartney name. I always thought that was a good thing for her to do after the divorce-at least she made a name for herself making accessible veggie food.

JUST realised that is Linda McCartney!

What struck me about the documentary is how everything is coming from him. All the ideas, all the drive. All the staff are looking to him for decisions. He was cracking up under the strain. Lennon is playing around on the fringes or turning up late. He just doesn’t seem to care much. It was an eye opener. Every single song more or less was McCartneys. The third episode shows them coming together more . Once they do the roof top performance they just light up and it all goes. So sad that that was the last time. I found it very affecting.

@TheElvishQueen I said pretty much the same thing to my DH after watching it.

Why should a billionaires child live a modest lifestyle?
And yes I said her child. She was the resident parent and lots are seeing the money as just for her, it wasnt.

Google has just informed me the veggie foods lady was his first wife who passed away.... OK... I feel a little bit better knowing it was an ex.... But not much better!

And Paul and Heather had put Beatrice in a top and expensive kindergarten.
As well as the £24 million, Paul paid for private school fees, a nanny and annual child maintenance of £35,000, That really is not a lot from a billionaire.

McCartney had joint custody of Beatrice, so she lived with him half the time. She only had to slum it on her mum’s 24 mil for the other 50% of the time. She will inherit her share of his fortune, so no harm done.

What a strange sad attitude, @julieca (Heather? Yoko?) Mercenary, in fact.

@EYProvider you are wrong. They had joint custody, Beatrice lived full time with Heather.
A billion pounds is a thousand million. Pauls current worth is 1.2 billion.
2.4 million is 0.25% of his total worth.

If Paul was ordinary with a house worth £150,000 and £50,000 savings, it would be the equivalent of Heather and Beatrice getting £500 as settlement.
So yes it is extremely tight of Paul.

But he is the billionaire. It's his money. He has the duty to support his kid, not provide a champagne lifestyle for his leaching ex.

@EightWheelGirl normally a childs living standards are determined by their parents income and wealth. Parents don't normally say, well its my money and so my kids don't need to live as good a lifestyle as I do.

But more importantly than that, why the assumption that McCartney should pay Mills when he could pay necessary expenses for his child directly himself?

There’s no conspiracy, @TheBoots, just a strange sequence of events.

It’s too complicated to go into details, so I will summarise.

Yoko’s art circle dabbled in Satanism. Actually, it’s probably more accurate to say that they used Satanism as a front for other things. One of them was a filmmaker called Kenneth Anger, who had links to an organisation called the Church of Satan.

That is not how child support works. Oh I wont have a fair divorce settlement, just tell me every time our child needs something and I will decide whether to give you the money or not.
