To feel utterly depressed and hopeless about the cruel world we live in

What is the world coming to? So many cases of child abuse and cruelty - there's so much of it around.
Plus, parents being killed whilst children asleep upstairs, asylum seekers stuck in freezing cold woods for weeks on end, no food or milk for babies. A humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan... I could go on. what World are we living in?! Surely every life is as important as another, but it seems not. Where's the help for these people, what can we do to help?!
Sorry for the depressing rant, I just feel utterly hopeless this morning.

The horrible part is, there is another child or ten children currently going through similar abuse right now, waiting the final blow.
Abuse of DC is acceptable in many areas from name calling to physical violence.
The hairdresser did testify but said nothing seeing the abuse happen, only a tiny proportion of emotionally physically abused DC are saved.

I have a horrible feeling we may all be heading into another form of lockdown or schools being closed, this case has made me feel vehemently against that. The abuse this kid suffered was hidden by lockdown.

Just as quick add on. The verdicts are in. The step mum guilty of murder and the dad of manslaughter.

Another update from today - she got 29 years and he got 21. Still not enough IMO. I wish I didn't know about this, I'm deeply traumatised. Keep telling my son how much I love him and trying to hold back tears when he's around. I need to stop thinking about it but it's so difficult not to. I'm trying to channel this pain into working out what can be done to stop this kind of thing happening to children. There must be something..
