To ask for your coffee

Coffee is now something I endure rather than enjoy. I usually go for whatever I can get. Probably taylors as that's in a shop I pass on thr way to work although supermarket own brands are often purchased as well.

But I'm.bored of them and the disgusting weird tasting yuck I have in the tin at the moment has tipped me over the edge .

What do you all put in your Coffee machines.

I want a nice coffee I can sit and relax with that serves a purpose a bit more than just perking me up for the school run

Hiya - What sort of coffee? Beans? Pods? For a cafetière? I love coffee. Would rather give up booze than coffee!

Whatwouldscullydo · 20/11/2021 19:13

Ground coffee/filter coffee for your bog standard coffee machine Smile

It's not compulsory to like coffee though! If you're not enjoying it, why not have something else? Hot chocolate, tea, fruit tea, hot ribena, hot honey and ginger?

Burnt0utMum · 20/11/2021 19:15

I use syrups to make my coffee more interesting. The gingerbread latte one is my fave at the moment.

Unicorn1976 · 20/11/2021 19:15

For filter coffee, I love the Lazy Sunday one which I think is Taylors of Harrogate. But my all time favourites are the Tassimo Kenco Columbian one and the Tassimo Cortado one topped up with hot water and milk.

batmanladybird · 20/11/2021 19:16

I like Illy but it's too £££ we have lavazza

KurtWilde · 20/11/2021 19:16

Starbucks House Blend is the best imo

DeepaBeesKit · 20/11/2021 19:16

We buy online from a brand called Redber

FangsForTheMemory · 20/11/2021 19:17

I like Lavazza, but I buy beans. Maybe buy yourself a bean grinder so you can do them fresh?

mineofuselessinformation · 20/11/2021 19:18

If you don't want to go down the coffee machine and pod route, buy your own beans and grind them. I like Colombian.

Westerman · 20/11/2021 19:19

I buy a US brand called Folgers on Amazon. I can't bear coffee but my husband loves the stuff.

LosingTheWill2 · 20/11/2021 19:20

I have a tassimo and drink the Costa or Kenco americano. Not at all environmentally friendly, but something I enjoy every morning.

Whatwouldscullydo · 20/11/2021 19:21

Sssshhh I'm.a bit of a gadget hoarder I have no space left in cupboards for anything else Blush I wouldn't take much persuading to buy a coffee grinder I must be strong Grin

I do usually enjoy coffee BTW. I'm.just really bored of the same old stuff. It's all a bit meh. Quality seems to have taken a nose dive .

Lavazza crema e gusto ground. I use it in a cafetiere. Strong but not bitter, I drink it black without sugar and can't start my day without it.

nc198567 · 20/11/2021 19:22

Illy in the bialetti.

Jasmine11 · 20/11/2021 19:24

I don't usually like flavoured coffee but I love the hazelnut ground coffee from Whittards.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/11/2021 19:26

We don't have a coffee machine; we have a good grinder and an Aeropress. We get beans from Atkinsons, our standard is their Prototype but we get small bags of others to try. (We used to get Lavazza or some of the Taylor's ones but they're not nearly as good imo)

The Aldi own brand Italian roast is beautiful.

lottiegarbanzo · 20/11/2021 19:26

I'd drop the bog standard coffee machine. I think that's your problem. Try a cafetiere.

Whatwouldscullydo · 20/11/2021 19:29

Are cafetieres better then?.I mean it would clear some space on the work.top so wouldn't bother me if I had to get rid of it provided the alternative was of equal ease and produced good results. Are they all the sake or are some better than others?.amazon have them.priced from.13 quid through to 80 odd. Is tgere a difference?

Asda 'extra special' Columbian is good. Not expensive. Honestly I don't think you have to spend a lot. It's more about finding the style you like, how soft and nutty vs sharp and fresh etc.

Coldilox · 20/11/2021 19:33

Rave coffee. Roasted to order (and ground if needed). There is nothing nicer than really fresh coffee. They have lots of different beans, roast levels etc.

SpamIAm · 20/11/2021 19:34

I much prefer filter to cafetière. Don't ditch the filter.

If you have access to Costco their own brand stuff in the big tins is really good. Otherwise we use Lidl French Blend.

Changechangychange · 20/11/2021 19:35

Illy in stovetop mokkapot, with hot milk for a home-made latte.

Or any decent Kenyan, Tanzania or Ethiopian cafetiere coffee, again with lots of hot milk. I usually buy Union or Cafe Direct Kilimanjaro beans, but I do also like Betty’s Christmas blend.

Postdatedpandemic · 20/11/2021 19:35

Cafetieres are better than filter machines. I like the double walled metal ones.
Or you can just make coffee in a jug and use a coffee strainer (like a tea strainer but finer). Once the coffee is brewed give it a stir and the majority of the grounds will sink.
Another one currently on Aldi Italian roast.
