To ask for your coffee

Coffee is now something I endure rather than enjoy. I usually go for whatever I can get. Probably taylors as that's in a shop I pass on thr way to work although supermarket own brands are often purchased as well.

But I'm.bored of them and the disgusting weird tasting yuck I have in the tin at the moment has tipped me over the edge .

What do you all put in your Coffee machines.

I want a nice coffee I can sit and relax with that serves a purpose a bit more than just perking me up for the school run

Mehari is really nice. I get it from a deli near us but it's online too.

IamEarthymama · 20/11/2021 21:39

I hate use the C-word but you haven't had covid recently have you?
When I had it in March 2020 I could not stand caffe, it made me sick.
I had fruit teas for a few months, bought a lovely little teapot and ingredients to mix my own with homey to sweeten.
After 6 months I could drink coffee again but having had covid again a month ago , I couldn't bear it again and had hot chocolate instead.

Back to normal now luckily. ☺️

Whatwouldscullydo · 20/11/2021 21:52

Henry Higgins' Brazilian Bourbon in this house.

We have a Lavazza machine used daily, but for a special treat I use Tesco Finest Sumatra Mandheling in a cafetiere. It's divine - discovered it from smelling the pack in the shop and it tastes just as described -"sweet and earthy with an aroma of dark chocolate".

PugInTheHouse · 20/11/2021 22:10

I have a monthly delivery of Skull Crusher coffee, it's lovely and strong Smile

I’ve been a fan of Cherizena flavoured coffee for years - a definite morning boost. I like to get a variety in, so it keeps me interested.

Penistoe · 20/11/2021 22:21

A place we found in Cornwall called yallah coffee. There is a cafe but they also deliver on their online shop.

Lavazza is relatively cheap (I get mine from Amazon) and vacuum packed so comes in a tidy little block for easy storage. The Crema E Gusto is best imo - it's the one in the red and blue pack.

I use a Bodum stainless steel insulated cafetiere, keeps it hot for a couple of hours. Mine is an 8 cup one but the 'cups' are tiny coffee cups. It's about 3 decent mugsful.

A Bialetti (or any moka pot really) is very easy to use but you need to stand over it to switch the heat off when it’s done. You put water in the base, coffee in the filter, pop the top on and the coffee bubbles up into the top. Makes espresso type coffee so depending on your taste, an aeropress might be better if you’re looking for filter/cafetière strength.

My DH is Italian so we have three bialetti pots (one makes cappuccino but too weak for him so he has that one and the small one on atthesame time to make extra espresso shots), a grinder with36 settings, cold water in the fridge for drinking with espresso, Union or Yawnbrew coffee beans, and an unused all singing coffee machine because he really thinks it has no soul.
I drink tea!

Tonyschoco · 21/11/2021 06:22

Lavazza Oro. Very smooth. I have it long with steamed and frothed milk.

supperlover · 21/11/2021 06:40

Try Traidcraft fair trade coffee and know that you are helping the producers and growers whilst enjoying good coffee. Check out Traidcraft shop on line. If you don't know Traidcraft it's a Christian based organisation working with all faiths and none in developing countries.

Either Aldi's French blend (£1.09, I think) or Tesco's Colombian (£2ish). I think they both mention chocolate in their flavour notes, maybe that's it. 😁

Have you considered changing it up with coffee syrups? TK Maxx always has delightfully bonkers flavours - my current favourite is "Maple Bourbon".

About 10 years ago, my daughter went volunteering in Cambodia and brought me back a 1 cup sachet of ground Vietnamese coffee. I used it in my filter machine (can't be arsed faffing about with any other type) and loved it. Dark roast, natural sweetness and a hint of chocolate. Lovely. I found a UK supplier, dragoncoffee.com/ and now that is all I drink. I usually buy the Trung Nyugen no 1 or no3, but the Tridung is very good as is there house blend. Vietnam is the world's 2nd biggest coffee grower, mainly for instant coffees, but if you want to try something different, give it a try.

ErrmWTAF · 21/11/2021 06:56

And I second everybody recommending an Aeropress - makes gorgeous coffee - almost "oily", like an espresso machine would do.

AntennaReborn · 21/11/2021 07:04

Another recommendation for a great independent coffee roaster :

www.rountoncoffee.co.uk/basket

I make mine in a cafetiere most of the time, but I also have a stove top Bialetti which I love (and a Nespresso pod machine for when I'm in a rush)

I am really tempted by an Aeropress though... 🙈

This really isn't the thread for me (I apologise in advance), but maybe you could take this as an opportunity to stop drinking coffee, if you aren't really enjoying it?

If you are really determined to keep drinking it, the coffee lovers in my life swear by www.fortitudecoffee.com/coffee

They do small batches, that change regularly, of what I am told is the best coffee in this city, by people that also don't care for bitter coffee. (I don't like coffee at all so I can't really comment).

It’s coffee, not crack.
Onairjunkie · 21/11/2021 07:24

I have a DeL’onghi La Specialista Maestro barista machine and my god it makes a good coffee. Quite pricey though. I also use Lavazza Oro, though I have a nice batch roasters nearby.

Missey85 · 21/11/2021 07:27

I use a lavazza pod machine or moccona when I have instant try favoured syrup to make your coffee nicer

Marbles321 · 21/11/2021 07:34

Highly recommend a monthly subscription to a small family run company in Southampton called So Roast. They deliver something different every month, from small coffee makeslrs around the world, Nd can either send whole beans that you grind or can grind for you to the right consistency for whatever machine you have.

I look forward to my morning cup every single day!

Really reasonably priced too, plus it comes straight to you door :-)

Marbles321 · 21/11/2021 07:36

Argh sorry about the typos! Anyway, highly, highly recommend.

200 degrees which is a brilliant coffee roasters from Nottingham. Their Brazilian Love Affair is seriously the best I've ever tasted.

flowerarrangement · 21/11/2021 07:38

I like this one, J Horning crema intenso.

I have it on subscribe and save at Amazon, use 1kg a month. It has replaced Lavazza crema for me, I prefer it, it is much smoother and stronger.
