Anyones eles kids have December birthdays? And do they get those annoying 'joint birthday / christmas gifts?'

Which are no bigger / better than your other kids Christmas gifts, yet the june (ect) kids get a birthday present too?

What Im trying to say is I think its unfair that the child that has a December birthday gets one gift that is equal to the christmas presents the other kids get. Yet its for his birthday too.

But the other kids get a seperate present on their birthday, if that makes sense.

Id understand if it was bigger - then its equal but nope.

Its not his fault his birthday is close to christmas.

Ah! The joys of a December birthday!
Mine is in 13 days and I can guarantee that it will be just the same this year and I'll be 29!!

DD birthday is Christmas eve. We throw an unbirthday party for her at the end of January. We generally send out the invitations at the beginning of December and put a note on the invite asking for her birthday presents to be held for her until the party. That way she has a special day of her own and she gets seperate presents and we dont have to find room for 3 lots of toys (christmas pressies for DS and DD on top of DD birthday presents).

Is there anyway you can do something like that?

Thanks - you've just reminded to me to post my nephews card with his separate present inside!
Have never bought him a joint one, (that's really mean IMO), OK, he's getting cash for his birthday but that's what he wants.

DD is 28th and I work really hard with family so that she does get two equal presents...sometimes I have to work really hard but my birthday is also December and I used to hate "joint" presents

Her party is always in term time and those friends would not give a Christmas present anyway

It did used to piss me off royally from age 12-19ish. before that I didn't really notice, after that I kind of accepted it. B ut in my teens I was proper narky about it!

I think it's pants when people do that.

On the flip side of the coin,my aunt refused to decorate her house until after my cousin's birthday which... is today actually ... as she maintained that 'Christmas is nothing to do with birthday'.

We're still trying to work out if she was being ironic or not or why else do we all exchange gifts this time of year .

But you are not BU.

My dd2 is 22 Dec. too! Trying to get people to remember is the problem (MIL) and my ds is 31 Dec. They forget it too.

my twins are 4 today and so far we've manage to avoid the joint present issue, which is good as its actually potentially a joint, joint issue we spend less on them than we might for christmas so we can buy them something in the summer instead, have noticed others (PILs) spend less on DTs combined than on their other DGD alone, with her June birthday

It's my son's birthday today. We have a rule in our house that no Christmas cards/tree or decs are put up until a week after his birthday so that everyone has their birthday cards up for the week, and he has separate Birthday and Christmas pressies.

My birthday often falls at Easter and one birtday party I got 6 Buttons Easter eggs and yes, I did complain!

my birthday is the 26th of Dec and my mum had the rule that no joint presents were allowed, she used to say you don't do it the other children so don't do it to 'bored'.

And Christmas always stopped for my birthday, one wall was reserved for my birthday cards and i always had a cake.

I actually rather liked it as it was rarely a school day, everywhere was festive and decorated (summer birthday parties never had fairy lights...) and everyone was in a party mood.
I very rarely got 'joint' presents, but could get away with writing 'joint' thankyou letters...

These days I find it hard when people ask for present ideas and I have to come up with one huge list once a year.

Well my birthday is 13th Dec and I too refuse to put up Christmas decorations or cards until at least a few days after that.

I've never had a joint present as my family just didn't do that.

I agree with MrsB though you have to come up with a long list once a year and often if you see something you would like as a present in beginning of the year you have forgotten about it by the time your birthday or Christmas arrives.

I tried to get a birthday cake in Tesco a few years ago, to be told 'We don't stock them the week before Christmas'. It is always hard trying to have a party, as you don't want to inconvenience people in the runup to Christmas.

Dd's birthday is today! She is only 5, so people have always bought separate presents. We will have her birthday cards up for a week (as we do for all other family birthdays)so Christmas cards, the tree and other decorations go up anytime after the 21st December. I refuse to let Christmas overshadow dd's special day
