To be really upset because Dp accidentally put mayonnaise in my hair

naggynora · 13/11/2021 14:49

Dressed for the day, make-up on, just made lunch for us all. Kids still eating and dp brings his plate up. We have a little banter and he proceeds to hold his plate above my head with a globule of Mayo still present.

He's joking obviously and I smile but then tell him to stop and move away.

He doesn't and proceeds to follow me with said plate above head. Then Lo and behold the Mayo drops onto my hair and dp is absolutely shocked.

I get upset as it now means I have to wash hair redo makeup etc... and I also have to do the other bits I had planned for the day. I realise it wasn't intentional and that he genuinely was thought it was funny but I can't help but think he's a complete idiot who should have known what would happen. I also don't think it's the least bit funny regardless of whether the Mayo had dropped or not.

So ianbu to feel upset, annoyed and to wish to stay clear of him for the rest of the day?

Or

Iambu and should get over it. It was a joke that went wrong, no harm done and Walking around smelling of hellmans is not the end of the world?

Really stupid move but why on earth can’t you just wipe it off ? Apply wet clean j cloth or face cloth if it’s stubborn then dry that bit. No need for washing whole head and redoing makeup surely ?

pastabest · 13/11/2021 15:14

He was being an idiot. But you lose any moral high ground by being silly about it. Just get a baby wipe and forget about it.

Fernando072020 · 13/11/2021 15:15

Unless you're going to a wedding, you're overreacting

LadyCatStark · 13/11/2021 15:16

I’d be annoyed that he’d kept doing it but I wouldn’t wash my hair, I’d just wipe it off and I wouldn’t sulk for the rest of the day.

Midlifemusings · 13/11/2021 15:18

Agree with the others - annoying, irritating, and immature but no need to throw off the day. Could be fixed in 1-2 minutes.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2021 15:20

Yes it was childish but so is sulking about it for the whole day and avoiding him.

Etonmessisyum · 13/11/2021 15:21

Sounds like a bit of a nob imo,
Wipe it off wet the bit of hair fling a bit of dry shampoo on once it’s dry and carry on.
Dunno what I’d do with your partner mustard in his pants?
Annoying and childish yes,

nitsandwormsdodger · 13/11/2021 15:22

Why on earth do you have to wash and re do make up??

Say “ oi you knob head” wet wipe and move on with your day
Are you normally like this or is something else going in ?

Skeumorph · 13/11/2021 15:22

God I HATE twats like this.

The fucking banter boys.

Bleurgh.

rwalker · 13/11/2021 15:24

Not ideal but christ some of the reaction and responses are way OTT.
How to kill the atmosphere and create massive drama.

my favourite response
He should pay for you to get your hair washed at a salon and for a make-up artist as a way of a proper apology.

Not over the top at all just to confirm we are talking grab of mayo not the full jar .

Rubyupbeat · 13/11/2021 15:26

He was having a laugh, joking about, annoying , yes, but surely not worth being so annoyed you need to create a post about it?

Tangelablue · 13/11/2021 15:28

Make sure you put a dollop of ketchup on his head before bed. That will teach him.
I would not be impressed if my DP done this to me.

lottiegarbanzo · 13/11/2021 15:28

I'd just wipe it off with a damp cloth and get on with my day. Unless you're going to a job interview, or wedding or something?

But yes, it was a twatty thing for him to do.

SkankingMopoke · 13/11/2021 15:29

I'd be pretty annoyed as it clearly isn't an accident. It was the entirely predictable outcome of a prolonged and deliberate action.
However, once I'd called out the twattish behaviour, I'd spot clean and dry the greasy part of my hair whilst leaving DH with whatever other jobs I was going to be doing in the now lost time. I don't wear make-up so could be well out here, but presumably if you carefully wash the patch of hair using flannels and/or the sink your make-up won't need to be touched up?

SheWoreYellow · 13/11/2021 15:30

I’d just wash that bit of hair. Or if you can’t do that then just wash your hair in the sink so as not to disturb your makeup.

liveforsummer · 13/11/2021 15:33

Just wipe it off, unless you're going out somewhere fancy for the afternoon/evening

youdontlikeaubergine · 13/11/2021 15:34

God it all sounds a bit dramatic. Yes he was pissing around, and sounds a bit annoying, but unless there's some sort of back story I don't understand.

If you were off to a wedding yes I'd be annoyed, but there's really no need to re wash your hair and do your make up. He didn't squeeze the whole tub on you.

starrynight21 · 13/11/2021 15:34

Wet a flannel. Wipe mayo off the affected bit of hair. Dry the bit of hair. Move on.

girlmom21 · 13/11/2021 15:35

I just don't get how anyone finds this funny or acceptable?

nocnoc · 13/11/2021 15:41

Is he always this childish?

RisingSunn · 13/11/2021 15:41

YABU. You said it yourself that he genuinely thought he was being funny; and you were having banter. It’s annoying; but wipe it off and get on with your day.

Nomoreusernames1244 · 13/11/2021 15:43

Dressed for the day, make-up on, just made lunch for us all. Kids still eating and dp brings his plate up

I now have an image of you in your twinset and pearls, perfect 50’s hair and make up making lunch in the kitchen and clearing up while your perfectly dressed kids and polo shirted husband sit at the table eating before bring their plates over for you to wash up.

Why weren’t you at the table eating too?

Then all the drama about hair and make up- again you sound like someone channelling their inner 50’s housewife and the horror of the neighbours seeing you less than perfectly turned out.

Wipe it off, or give your hair a quick wash. Stuff all the “dressed for the day, make up on” crap and just get on with it.

Nanny0gg · 13/11/2021 15:44

How can you just wipe it off?

The OP has a lovely greasy patch on her hair. And if you have to wash your hair your makeup comes off.

I wouldn't be at all happy with the eejit

SmileyClare · 13/11/2021 15:48

I'm not sure why several people are saying "unless you're going to a wedding, it doesn't matter"

If a woman wants to blow dry her hair and wear make-up then good for her. It matters to me that I look nice and I'd be annoyed if dh undid my effort and I had a clump of greasy hair .

I'd be irritated and its a silly thing to do in front of the dc, who if it's treated as joke, will probably copy.

I wouldn't sulk all day but i wouldn't be rolling about laughing and patting dh on the back for being so playful and fun

Skeumorph · 13/11/2021 15:48

Not an accident then.
