Landof · 11/11/2021 17:51

So tea tonight is: mash, Richmond sausages, brocolli, one small Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Question: how many Richmond sausages?

This thread isn't about food poverty though is it? it's quite obviously about Richmond Sausages given that they're mentioned by name three times in the OP.

Yes and the OP was asking how many sausages to give.
She was not asking for her food choice to be ridiculed but it was anyway.

hangrylady · 11/11/2021 18:48

Richmond Sausages are my favourite, I'd have 3. DH laughs at me and says they're lips and arseholes but I don't care. You can shove your 'quality sausages' where the sun don't shine, they ming. The meat free ones are also nice.

TuftyMarmoset · 11/11/2021 18:48

Two but the veggie ones 😋

Tal45 · 11/11/2021 18:50

We all have two each because then one pack does the three of us. I would drop the yorkshire pudding and have more veggies though.

NoDecentHandlesLeft · 11/11/2021 18:53

3, but only the meat free ones- best meat free sausages I have found so far!

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/11/2021 18:54

None. I refer to them as eyeballs and aresholes sausages.

mommybear1 · 11/11/2021 18:54

After finding out they had the bare minimum legal requirement of pork in to call themselves sausages - none. 🤮

As a child loved em - 2 each 😉

ivykaty44 · 11/11/2021 18:56

Richmonds are ok for veggie sausages

hangrylady · 11/11/2021 18:56

@Libertaire

None.

I would think twice about feeding Richmond sausages to my dog.

At my table, we eat sausages which are 90% meat, not 42%. 🤮

You're so amazing
Idbemonica1 · 11/11/2021 18:58

2 , they are the only sausages i'll eat. Can't stand "meaty" lumpy sausages.

Christmas1988 · 11/11/2021 19:06

Yuck, none, unless they are the vegan ones then 3.

Richmond sausages have the least pork of all the sausage in this Which guide.

It also says “Richmond is one of the biggest names in the market but its thick pork sausages contain just 42% pork – the least they can legally contain to be labelled pork sausages.”

I thought this was going to turn onto one of those oh so jolly class identification threads.

That said, I only eat sausages of the gods. But I cant share the recipe, It would be like scattering pearls before swine Grin.

Shade17 · 11/11/2021 19:07

I don't think that's true...they are low meat but they say pork. I know because I avoid the real ones! If that were true surely you wouldn't be able to have chicken on 'chicken soup', etc?

They didn’t used to say pork on them but they do now. Minimum 42% pork to be called a “pork” sausage. I wonder if they changed the recipe slightly.

None, get proper sausages from a butcher. Otherwise, your tea sounds lovely.
knittingaddict · 11/11/2021 19:07

@GertrudeBElion

I imagine it's because they are cheap and lots of people are on very limited budgets and they can't afford meaty sausages

I'd say most basic supermarket sausages are cheaper but contain almost twice as much meat .

I didn't know that. I never buy them, so assumed they must be very cheap.
SecretKeeper1 · 11/11/2021 19:08

But seeing as you had to get them from an online delivery OP, to answer the question we’d each have 3 or 4 (adults and teens). Hope you’ll treat yourself to some proper butchers sausages when you’re out of isolation!!

EffOrfagain · 11/11/2021 19:08

DH would have 3 or 4 as he is a bit piggy, he buys the frozen Richmond ones as they are handy for him to take out fishing or stargazing and he cooks them up in his Trangia.

I would have 2 but can't eat the Richmond ones as they are not gluten free, so for a meal we have more expensive ones that are. DH enjoys the Richmond ones as much as the expensive ones though

cushioncovers · 11/11/2021 19:08

I have the meat free ones and I would have 3

TalkSomeSense20 · 11/11/2021 19:09

At just 42% pork I wouldn't have any! Yuck. Mass manufactured with meat it would be hard to guess the provenance of.

Doublechins · 11/11/2021 19:10

My 3 year old would have 1, 6 year old 2, 10&11 year olds 3, me 4, DH 5......but we're greedy

Landof · 11/11/2021 19:10

Well thanks for the laugh everyone.
I had no idea I'd have my dinner ridiculed HAHA. Like I say, I'm isolating, Richmond was all I could get. They were nice. Thanks to those who answered the question.
I had 3 😀 yummy pork Richmond sausages

I assumed that the op knew exactly what she was doing by mentioning at all that they were RICHMOND sausages. It's not like RICHMOND sausages are a different size to any other sausage. Threads on this subject have very predictable replies.
EvenRosesHaveThorns · 11/11/2021 19:11

Mm, the vegan onesGrin
