‘ What I don’t get is that relating to Alice is that she has worked in the time they’ve been married. Obviously we don’t know all the ins and outs and she may have turned work down due to his work commitments.’
Speculation on my part & based upon my observation of performing friends: most performers ‘rest’ most of the time, being a SAHM/D provides a cloak of social acceptance in our work-driven culture.
Any time, if either agent of AE or IG rang up with a sniff of an audition or paid work, everything would recalibrate to make use of that opportunity. So if paid job offer is for a season filming xthousand miles away, you pack & go. Panto season? You pitch up to work whilst family get on with festive jollies without you.
If AE turned down auditions/work to be SAHM, then her agent would let her go. The art of overcoming this is for the couple to have the same agent, so schedules can be synch’d. That is entirely in the hands of the agent as it is their business.
I don’t know AE’s work, she is attractive, photogenic, clearly bright & sharp, & probably can act. But she has a track record of being difficult & high maintenance, so she may not be getting much interest.
Performing arts is a very competitive sector, there’s always a fresher, better, cheaper version of what you offer coming though. Some acceptance & humility is required to see this through.
