To wonder who is the best (or worst I guess!) bad guy in TV or film?

So me and DH rewatching TWD and just got to the first meeting of Negan again. Both episodes give me absolute chills and make me feel sick watching, not even from the gore.

I think he's the worst villain I've seen on TV, at the start anyway.

Who's your favourite (or worst)?

TWD?

VillainouslyGood · 10/11/2021 07:25

The walking dead.

Alan Rickman, such an awesome villain

Bingbong21 · 10/11/2021 07:36

I think negan gave me similar chills during this episodes too. Brilliant

KS in the Usual Suspects (aiming to avoid spoilers as it's so old some may not have seen it. He's a genius, I miss him on screen.

caringdenise009 · 10/11/2021 07:39

Negan was the worst TV villain for me, ruined the walking dead and I gave up watching it in s7 because it got so boring.

The First in Buffy was the worst. Nathan Fillion was amazing.

Silas in Hollyoaks was a good bad guy (if that makes sense). You didn’t really suspect him as a murderer for a long time - his storyline built up slowly. It was very well done (and a little creepy).

treguffin · 10/11/2021 07:41

There's a very simple answer to this as it's Javier Bardem as Chigurh in No Country For Old Men.

Acrasia · 10/11/2021 07:43

Even though I haven’t seen it in a very long time, Ben from Lost stands out for me.

Game of Thrones has plenty of contenders, and more recently Homelander from The Boys.

RampantIvy · 10/11/2021 07:47

I'm watching reruns of Bad Grils just now, and Jim Fenner comes to mind straight away.

RampantIvy · 10/11/2021 07:47

Bad Girls

Palegreenstars · 10/11/2021 07:54

Umbridge from Harry Potter

I actually think the governer was worse (a better villain) than Negan. Negan is crude, but he had his standards (killed one of his own men for trying to rape Sasha for example). The Governer was capable of anything!!! Love watching Negan though, he is so entertaining. Also love Lucifer in supernatural for the same reason. Ramsey Bolton in game of thrones, is a brilliant villain too.

TrishM80 · 10/11/2021 08:14

Loved JR Ewing in Dallas. Larry Hagman played the role perfectly.

Hmm I do see your point but from re watching the first meeting with Negan last night (won't give any spoilers but you'll know what happens!) The sheer brutality of what he does and says just made me feel so on edge. I never felt that way with the governor. I remember saying to DH the very first time we watched it that I wished I could skip to the end of the series to see this guy get what he deserved because I just hated him (which means he obviously played his part well! Ha).

The governor, whilst a good baddie, just didn't have the brutality or sick enjoyment in what he was doing that Negan did for me.

I actually think the complete opposite of PP that nothing was really going on anymore in the show until Negan showed up and revamped it. We hadn't had a good bad guy since the governor which was seasons ago by this point.

Surely Ramsay Bolton in GOT? No contest.

(Haven’t seen TWD …)

Though Chigurh in No Country For Old Men was relentlessly chilling. I often find myself thinking of Kelly Macdonald, after her mother’s funeral …

VillainouslyGood · 10/11/2021 08:27

Yes Ramsay is definitely a good contender!

Watched The North Water recently and Henry Drax (Colin Farrell) was a great villain. He just exuded menace even when not really doing anything. Hard to describe, but it was like he almost wasn't quite human. Brilliant performance by CF.

Fluffbutt · 10/11/2021 08:40

Ramsey Bolton!

But also Joffrey…

Gottahavehighhopes · 10/11/2021 08:46

Andrew Scott's moriarty in sherlock genuinely puts me on edge. For me it's just the right level of unnerving without feeling over egged

Umbridge also is perfectly acted. She's a personality that I feel like I've met many times before!

millerpie · 10/11/2021 08:46

Jonathan Randall in Outlander for me, by far the baddest of the bad…he’s hard to watch. The ‘love him even though he’s a baddy’ is Tbag in prison break.
Negan started well but became quite comical in the end.

Lottapianos · 10/11/2021 08:48

'There's a very simple answer to this as it's Javier Bardem as Chigurh in No Country For Old Men.'

Absolutely. So sinister and genuinely frightening

SpikyHatePotato · 10/11/2021 08:49

Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham

Smorgasborb · 10/11/2021 08:49

Andrew Scott as Moriarty in Sherlock

Rubyupbeat · 10/11/2021 08:52

Ramsey in got, he was just so sadistic and terrifying.

Geoff in Corrie (now dead) was brilliant, so believable.
