To wonder who is the best (or worst I guess!) bad guy in TV or film?

So me and DH rewatching TWD and just got to the first meeting of Negan again. Both episodes give me absolute chills and make me feel sick watching, not even from the gore.

I think he's the worst villain I've seen on TV, at the start anyway.

Who's your favourite (or worst)?

Tamatoa!

Mattttttt · 10/11/2021 18:55

Jason Watkins as Herrick is S1 of Being Human. Camp, menacing, cheerful and slightly deranged all at the same time, it’s a masterful performance.

Sinthie · 10/11/2021 19:06

Tony Soprano

FreedomFaith · 10/11/2021 19:11

@Palegreenstars

Umbridge from Harry Potter
She's the best in books too. She's more evil than voldemort. The fact she can cast a patronus while torturing people proves that, doing evil things makes her happy. She's a horrible cruel person.
BlueBellsArePretty · 10/11/2021 19:16

Anyone remember Izzy from Neighbours? Hated when she set out and succeeded in splitting up Karl and Susan 😂

Lalliella · 10/11/2021 19:21

@TrishM80

Loved JR Ewing in Dallas. Larry Hagman played the role perfectly.
I came on here to say JR too!
BlueBellsArePretty · 10/11/2021 19:27

Also Cornelius Hickey in the Terror, what an evil villain.

SteppinOutwithMyBaby · 10/11/2021 19:35

@caringdenise009 Nathan Fillion was amazing. No, no, no, the gorgeous Mal Reynolds as a villain? Never.

I might have to watch Buffy – I noticed it's on Netflix.

Me too! Although I don’t watch Neighbours much now, Karl and Susan remain my favourite soap couple.

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

The penguin in The Wrong Trousers. Pure evil.
Now he was a proper bastard

Ramsay Boulton
Trevor Jordach
The Child Catcher
Not in any particular order, they all give me the heebee jeebees

livelyredjellybean · 10/11/2021 20:02

Is there something wrong with me as Andrew Scott as Moriarty gets me extremely hot under the collar! Not in anything else, just as Moriarty...!!

AdelindSchade · 10/11/2021 20:04

Nurse Ratched. Kind of similar to Ubridge where they pretend to be caring but are absolute evil. I also enjoy Annie Wilkes.

AdelindSchade · 10/11/2021 20:04

*Umbridge

Greenrubber · 10/11/2021 20:06

Yes Negan is a great character but Alpha gave was a creepy bitch

I loved him in Pride. Not hot under the collar love but I thought he was brilliant in that.

@fdgdfgdfgdfg

John Lithgow as Trinity in Dexter is up there for me. Really struggle to see him as not creepy in anything else I watch now
God yes. There is another series out on one of the Sky channels. I will wait until I can get it on Netflix.

It's definitely not - it's on Disney+

thatonesmine · 10/11/2021 20:11

For a baddie with no redeeming features whatsoever, Dennis Hopper as Frank in Blue Velvet. Oh my.

SpikeDearheart · 10/11/2021 20:14

David Tennant as Kilgrave in Jessica Jones. The chilling epitome of an abusive narcissist.

hangrylady · 10/11/2021 20:17

The character played by Plan B in Harry Brown. Also Kevin Bacon in Sleepers and Ramsay Bolton in GOT.

MissAmbrosia · 10/11/2021 20:32

@XelaM

Ralph Fiennes in "The Schindler's List". It's absolutely the most uncanny spectacular performance. One of the survivors had a panic attack when she met him on set because he was so like the real Amon Goeth
Agree with this. When he was in the basement with his "housekeeper" the way he looked at her epitomized evil. She was terrified and powerless. It was one of the best pieces of acting - both of them - that I have ever seen.
MissAmbrosia · 10/11/2021 20:34

More than evil - it was the lust he felt even though she was "forbidden" and and the way he tried to justify it to himself.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/11/2021 20:35

Ramsay Bolton. Looked like an Angel. Evil bastard.

MissAmbrosia · 10/11/2021 20:36

And David Tennant as Dennis Nilsen. Also fabulously well done and very chilling.

DockOTheBay · 10/11/2021 20:40

Negan was awful and not in good way. He was like a cartoon villain, full of his own importance and constantly talking bollocks. Those last two episodes of that season were very tense I agree, but the first episode (the infamous bat scene) as just over the top and gory and it just got worse from there and more stupid.

Up for contention:
the Night King from GOT, enigmatic, genuinely powerful and scary
Moriarty in Sherlock
Arby from Utopia (although not sure "villain" is the right word)
