To wonder who is the best (or worst I guess!) bad guy in TV or film?

So me and DH rewatching TWD and just got to the first meeting of Negan again. Both episodes give me absolute chills and make me feel sick watching, not even from the gore.

I think he's the worst villain I've seen on TV, at the start anyway.

Who's your favourite (or worst)?

Ramsey Bolton for pure evil....

Loki for a "fun" bad guy :-)

EdmontinaDancesWithOphelia · 10/11/2021 08:57

I try never to think of Joffrey …

Had given up on The North Water after about three episodes - just so depressing. Should I go back?

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 10/11/2021 08:58

@Palegreenstars

Umbridge from Harry Potter
I second Umbridge. She's far worse than Voldemort.

Glory in Buffy terrified me and I was in my forties when I watched it.

Trevor Jordache in Brookside was similar, seemed charming looked gorgeous and was pure evil underneath.

CockaleekieAye · 10/11/2021 09:01

Walter White from Breaking Bad has to be up there.

Kanaloa · 10/11/2021 09:04

I actually thought Andrew Scott was more funny than frightening as Moriarty. I presumed he was playing it up for laughs.

Agree with Walter White - astounds me that so many people see him as a ‘hero’ figure or a victim of circumstances when I saw him as sort of a negative character arc. Very well written and acted, but a ‘bad’ person.

I think a ‘bad guy’ is actually much much harder to get right than a good guy. You can easily end up with a one dimensional evil for no reason character, or a bizarre sadist (the Ramsay Bolton). It’s hard to write a bad guy the audience will actually root for or understands.

I thought Negan before I opened your post - the man is a barbaric monster but damn, he's hot BlushGrin

middleager · 10/11/2021 09:15

Don Draper from Mad Men did some pretty despicable deeds - with charm and smiles.

The Trevor storyline was probably the first proper abuse story I'd ever seen and it was magnificently chilling. He was such a vile creep, and total charmer.

Have just started watching TWD as DP kept raving about it and it’s on Disney+ so thought meh… I’ll give it a go :)

We are on Season 4 and soooo looking forward to the Governor getting what he deserves… excited to see there’s a villain who’s even worse coming up though!

Also as an aside, I didn’t like Daryl the first few episodes - thought he was a dick and would be a villain himself but OMG I’m totally Team Daryl now! I’m really enjoying it.

And agree with PP about Ramsey Bolton - his comeuppance was one of the most satisfying things to read and watch!

3luckystars · 10/11/2021 09:47

Nidge from Love Hate

fdgdfgdfgdfg · 10/11/2021 09:48

John Lithgow as Trinity in Dexter is up there for me. Really struggle to see him as not creepy in anything else I watch now

3luckystars · 10/11/2021 09:49

Also the baddie in Jack Reacher, not sure if his name but he plays a similar character in the Mandalorian.
He is just cold and ruthless.

CounsellorTroi · 10/11/2021 09:52

Rob Titchener from the Archers.

EvilRingahBitch · 10/11/2021 10:02

Hans Gruber in Die Hard for entertainment value.
Ramsay Bolton for how much I hated him and wanted to see him die horribly.

RobertaFirmino · 10/11/2021 10:04

How about T-Bag from Prison Break? Such a fantastic, well acted character. In the name of egalitarianism, I'd like to nominate Joan Ferguson, aka The Freak as the best bad woman.

Maggiesgirl · 10/11/2021 10:05

Black Jack Randall in Outlander. Tobias Menzies is brilliant in the role. Really evil.

Owlink · 10/11/2021 12:06

Alan Ford as Brick Top in Snatch. Most believable & frightening gangster I've ever seen on film.

I always rooted for Alice in Luther, and generally for Hannibal lector (all versions 😄)
BeyondShrinks · 10/11/2021 12:26

I also root for Negan (and the governor), though not for Ramsey Bolton.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 10/11/2021 12:27

The penguin in The Wrong Trousers. Pure evil.

Good shout. Second only to Javier Bardem
HoseMeDownWithHolyWater · 10/11/2021 12:32

I thought Negan was brilliant.

I hated him with a passion.

But my vagina really enjoyed it when he smiled.

SturminsterNewton · 10/11/2021 12:32

Stephen Graham in 'Good Cop'. He was chillingly scary.

KateMcAllister · 10/11/2021 12:35

Scar in The Lion King. Absolute cunt Sad
