To think Jeremy Clarkson needs a smacked bottom

He’s online whingeing that Greta needs a smacked bottom; probably as she is a young woman who has a different viewpoint from him, and isn’t afraid of being loud about it.

Aibu to think that he is the one who needs a smacked bottom instead
@Whatisautogynophilia. I never mentioned Greta's name. I didn't quote the section referring to her. I don't connect the two.
My response was solely to your statement that no one should criticise someone they haven't met. I've never met Rose West but I'm happy to criticise her, as I suspect you are. Therefore your statement is wrong.
No, you're talking absolute boll9cks!

Yayaga · 10/11/2021 06:48

@MrsLargeEmbodied
Cok Snarl?

Why is it not okay for people to not like Greta? 🤷‍♀️

UseOfWeapons · 10/11/2021 07:08

I’m no Greta fan, but JC makes me want to drown myself in a vat of horse manure.
A smacked bottom? No, a punch in the goodies for Jez.

antsinyourpanta · 10/11/2021 07:12

I think that its massive hypocrisy from Jeremy Clarkson when, for most of top gear, it was a bunch of middle aged men behaving like 11 year old boys.Hmm
However I think its disingenuous to say Greta Thunberg has done more than anyone else to raise awareness of climate change. Shes made a lot of headlines but her USP is that she's very young (and looks even younger). David Attenborough has been educating people on climate change for decades. And I do find it insulting to scientists, ecologists and reseachers who have spent their whole careers committed to climate change that somehow they are not doing enough but Great Thundersley shouting blah blah blah into a megaphone is...

antsinyourpanta · 10/11/2021 07:13

Agh auto correct fail - Greta Thunberg not great Thundersley (whoever that is!!) Blush

lollipoprainbow · 10/11/2021 07:15

He was clearly joking !! I really like him actually.

Platax · 10/11/2021 07:24

@Mum2jenny

eleganz I like Jeremy but will not look at any news items which reference Greta. She is her own worst enemy. Jeremy is Jeremy, whilst I don’t always agree with him, I do think if Greta had been disciplined earlier, she may be a better person today.
What has she done that makes you think she hasn’t been disciplined?
Shade17 · 10/11/2021 07:32

Love Clarkson, despise Greta with every fibre of my being.

IWishToAnswerInTheAffirmative · 10/11/2021 07:41

He knows exactly what reaction he would get from this comment

And that is what he has got the man loves to wind people up

Absolutely this. He’s just trying to wind people up.

It’s like the people who believe Piers Morgan genuinely holds some of the stupid views he spouts. Or that his walk-off from GMB was in any way genuine.

Don’t be so gullible.

StormyTeacups · 10/11/2021 07:43

Is there a little sock puppeting going on her

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/11/2021 07:46

greta is a role model for young people

clarkson is no role model for anyone

RuggerHug · 10/11/2021 07:52

@Mum2jenny

I have done plenty of research on climate change and I still feel Greta is not helping as far as I’m concerned. But that is my personal view and it will not change. She is an annoying distraction to the main issues. And I will not be discussing my views further as it will not be seen to be positive.
And what have you done that's better than her actions? Anything?

JC needs a boot up the hoop and a time out.

Pinkgorrilaz · 10/11/2021 07:52

@Mum2jenny

I like Jeremy and fully agree that Greta is a spoilt brat, and if she’d been disciplined years ago, she’d be a better person.

It’s all about the ‘media’ and her profile. I absolutely loathe her and she’s really put me off agreeing with any of the climate change objectives.

Seriously?

Are you an adult?

Because I can't believe an actual adult would disagree with something as important as climate change because they have a personal dislike for one of the people fronting the campaign (who they don't even know personally).

It would be like shooting yourself in the foot because you don't like the pedicure someone did.

VincaMinor · 10/11/2021 07:58

@GetOffThatPhone

The irony of a Clarkson fan calling someone else a spoiled brat.
Some of the earlier posts can be summed up as "Boys will be boys, but women know your place!"
AdelindSchade · 10/11/2021 07:59

That's so gross. Yabu for making me think of Jeremy Clarkson this early in the morning. Boak.

Fomomofo · 10/11/2021 08:02

She also doesn't punch people, using xenophobic slurs and misogynistic swear words - as far as I'm aware

DecadentlyDecisive · 10/11/2021 08:08

@TashieWoo

What is actually wrong with middle aged white men though, and why should they be pissed off?
As they're the main wielders of power, it makes sense to get them onside.

If your PR person is an annoying little tick, you won't.

Laiste · 10/11/2021 08:26

This is the most bizarre thread.

Greta Thunberg, Jeremy Clarkson, Rose West and Piers Morgan ...

ConfusedGrin

DrSbaitso · 10/11/2021 08:54

Now Greta Thunberg is comparable to Rose West. I fucking despair. Maybe she should give up and just let the planet fry after all.

DdraigGoch · 10/11/2021 09:05

"Learning about farming" and making a TV series about it does very little to help the environment in any meaningful way. Whilst farming practices are improving there are still many unsustainable farming practices operating at large scale across the UK.

@Eleganz you realise that the audience of that show are the sort of people who needed convincing? So when Clarkson's builder was shouting at him about how it's his fault that the foundations of his new building are waterlogged, or when Clarkson himself describes the difficulties of negotiating the wettest winter and driest summer since..., petrol heads might actually take note?

00100001 · 10/11/2021 09:10

@Shade17

Love Clarkson, despise Greta with every fibre of my being.
Why?
00100001 · 10/11/2021 09:10

Why do you hate Greta?
I'm very confused as to why people hate her so much, what has she done??? Confused

FourteenSixteenTwentyTwo · 10/11/2021 09:16

It’s interesting reading the comments, and actually I think there’s some similarities with Greta and Clarkson. Both have built careers by making their audience uncomfortable - but let’s face it. Greta is trying to make people accountable for their actions and drive change. People don’t want to be reminded they should be being better and making changes.
Clarkson makes very uncomfortable bigoted jokes, but his intended audience have more of a ‘ooh, he shouldn’t have said that but it’s funny because it’s true’ type view (well that’s certainly how the big Clarkson fans I know view him).

pickingdaisies · 10/11/2021 09:17

My memory of Jezza (ugh) is jumping up and down on arctic pack ice saying something like "looks thick enough to me."
Yeah he's a hoot.
Oh and he's justified still driving around in his range rovers because he's carbon neutral Hmm

Moonmelodies · 10/11/2021 09:19

I don't remember much outrage when comedian Rosie Jones suggested the then 16 year old Greta should be "drinking Lambrini and getting fingered".
