Just seen the footage of a woman attacking a horse after a "drag hunt"
She is a primary school teacher and a member of the pony club.
Aibu to think she should lose her job over this?

The woman is a cruel bitch, deserves no sympathy and should not be around any animal or child as she clearly has anger issues and is violent.
I sincerely hope she realises her cruelty is unforgivable.

Meg000 · 10/11/2021 18:51

What a ridiculous comment, perhaps you should read my original post? I do not agree with her treatment of the horse but I am voicing my opinion that she shouldn’t be subjected to this abuse because of it! Does that now make me an animal abuser? I agree with a previous comment if you think this poor woman should “hypothetically burnt at the stake” because of this you are most certainly unhinged!

liveforsummer · 10/11/2021 18:51

*She reacted to a potential dangerous situation the horse came lose and could of caused harm to traffic /people she was disciplining it. I do think it was possibly over the top, but can you all honestly tell me you have never told a dog off for misbehaving?
*

Confused People like you are what gives the majority of kind horse owners bad names. The horse will have become loose through human error and would have made no link between it running off and it being hit around the head and kicked in the stomach (the 2 most sensitive places on the animal where you can really hurt them - you'd be hard pressed for example to actually hurt a horse by a whack on the rump). What do you suggest the horse is learning by what is happening? To not be caught next time probably...

Bertiebiscuit · 10/11/2021 18:53

I wouldnt allow her near any child of mine, she is violent and out of control, I would sack her on the spot if it was in my power and get the police to charge her

Actually that's not what you said at all. You tried to make out her behaviour was ok and that "everyone makes mistakes"

You could have made the point about the implications being very unfortunate for her and the implications of trial by social media and the impact on innocent parties.

But you didn't.

Meg000 · 10/11/2021 18:59

I think you’ll find I did. Hmm

EnidFrighten · 10/11/2021 19:00

This country is batshit. People don't get this worked up about police brutality!

ThePriceIsNotRight · 10/11/2021 19:07

People do get quite worked up about police brutality though, don’t they? I seem to remember a fair few protests recently.

I don’t think ‘not caring one way or another whether a violent abuser kill’s herself or not’ qualifies as unhinged, or at least it doesn’t in any DSM edition I’ve ever browsed. Actions have consequences, and we do live in a culture where shit like this can very easily end up on social media, but I suppose that’s the risk you take when you start beating up an animal in public, isn’t it?

I don’t consider myself to occupy any sort of high ground, but then ‘doesn’t abuse animals’ isn’t a high ground, is it? It’s a bare fucking minimum.

EnidFrighten · 10/11/2021 19:10

I think people get more het up about animals bring hurt than people being hurt. I do not like cruelty to anyone but the fever pitch about this sort of thing always surprises me.

I think that’s the key thing. She was clearly out of control. You could see the anger, even when she put the pony in the trailer. She was so so angry . That’s not disciplining an animal. It’s assaulting and abusing in sheer anger.

Some people do.

WildExcuses · 10/11/2021 19:14

People get ‘worked up’ about police brutality too, in fact about any situation where a person or animal is hurt. But animals have no voice or way to speak out so it is only right that people defend them.

IntermittentParps · 10/11/2021 19:17

@Meg000

I’m not minimising her behaviour but she’s still a human with a family ect. I imagine you have never made a mistake !
I've made mistakes.

I've just never kicked or punched an animal (or a person, come to that).

WildExcuses · 10/11/2021 19:18

A mistake. 🙄

mbosnz · 10/11/2021 19:21

This wasn't 'discipline'. To discipline, you need to have self discipline.

This was loss of temper, and of self control, and lashing out at the most vulnerable target, as a result. The target, incidentally, being a creature that she had a duty of care towards, and to ensure that the creature did not create a hazard to other people, that she failed in. She failed. Not the horse. Not the hunt sabs (and I'm extremely lukewarm on huntsabs). The one that seriously fucked up here is her, and it's a shame that she was not able to deal with her fuck up in a more constructive, and less destructive manner.

She is/was a Big I Am in Pony Club, not a child who should have been taught better, and could be educated to do better. She is/was the educator.

Meg000 · 10/11/2021 19:22

I agree with you there, the hunt sabs aren’t brave they are just as cruel to animals they just aren’t filmed doing so. They spray vinegar in horses eyes to try and knock the rider, they try and veer the hounds off course into the road to cause them harm. Before any one gets on their high horse ( excuse the pun) that doesn’t make me a fox hater or a pro hunter but sadly it is the truth.

Tzimi · 10/11/2021 19:22

Being involved in fox hunting is bad enough, let alone kicking & slapping a horse!

mbosnz · 10/11/2021 19:23

Oh, so they're 'just as cruel to horses'?

So you're admitting that this person was cruel to the horse - the person who one would think would actually care for that horse?

Meg000 · 10/11/2021 19:29

Yes I admit it was an over the top reaction and she should be investigated as per original / other posts. I’m getting bored with repeating myself! I don’t agree with the witch hunt!

Lostonthefell · 10/11/2021 19:34

What made her do that? Did pony bite her or a child just before or strike out purposely with its front hoof? It doesn’t look upset to be treated like that and loaded like a pro. Clearly a lot more to this…

DaisyStiener · 10/11/2021 19:34

I wouldn’t want someone like that teaching my child.
If they can mistreat animals ,they can mistreat a child.
These people are missing something humane, in their souls.

Botanica · 10/11/2021 19:35

Her behaviour was appalling. There is absolutely no way I would be happy with such a violent cruel woman teaching my child.
If she wasn't removed from the school, I would look to remove my child from her care.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/11/2021 19:37

So what if it did? Her reaction was still unjustified. My DS rides, if he was bit by a horse I would not kick the horse and slap it, how the hell would that help?

if she was a cleaner or a cashier - her job would be irrelevant. but as a teacher of young children - she can't be trusted.
