steak pie - steak only or steak and sausage?

We like steak pies with a sausage on the side. For me pork isn't a strong enough meat to have in a hot pie.

You have steak sausages not pork!

When I was little i didn't like the stew but loved the sausages. Now I just make the stew as I'd forgotten about the sausages. Gonna add them next time I make it. Do you cook the sausage 1st?

Has to be steak and sausage and with the pastry all soggy underneath. My MIL used to cook the pastry separately on a baking tray and it was a dry abomination. Always, always have steak and sausage pie, mashed potatoes and baked beans on NYD

Can't stand corned beef stovies, has to be sausage.

To be clear, the beans are served separately, not in the pie. No idea why we ended up with mash and beans as accompaniments - random choice one year that somehow became a tradition.

Steak and sausage sounds tasty! So long as it's pastry all round and not a lid, I'm happy with various fillings.

We do sometimes have it on NYD, don't worry, again it depends on which set of parents we are seeing for NYD!

I brown the sausage first otherwise it looks a bit anaemic and sad (same with the steak)
