Who would vote Tory and why?

OP posts:
Bucanarab · 20/10/2021 18:20

Until independence is achieved I'll have vote for the SNP. After that I'm not sure but certainly won't be for the Tories. I'll never, ever, vote Tory.

ChrisS36 · 20/10/2021 18:25

Me because I always do. And Labour are hopelessly disunited.

Surely you'd keep voting Scots Nats after independence? Haven't they got a post independence programme?
EndoplasmicReticulum · 20/10/2021 18:37

I'm another politically homeless voter who used to vote Labour or Green but can't bring myself to do so at the moment.
However it makes no difference anyway as in such a safe seat for Tories - last time even if everyone else had put all their votes together - the Conservative would still have won.

luckylavender · 20/10/2021 19:01

@Shade17 - I really genuinely do not understand how you can think that. This administration is corrupt. A lazy populist PM who 'got Brexit done' by threatening the destabilisation of the Island of Ireland, who ignored Covid for months whilst he sorted out his messy personal life, who is racist and homophobic not to mention a philanderer and his bunch of groupies who want to drown migrants and starve the poor and children. I could go on.

BasicDad · 20/10/2021 19:45

Swing voter. Historically voted Libs as closest to my own ideology. Labour are too far left (especially recently) for me to comfortably vote for.

berryhead2013 · 20/10/2021 19:55

@Iggly this exactly I'm in Scotland so would never vote Tory but I just don't get it anybody would be better even the monster raving loony party don't give them another chance please we hate them
Up here and even if everyone up here voted labour we still couldn't get them out

In my opinion it's those type of slurs and name calling that has led us to where we are. If you don't share our opinion and politics then we will call you names and label you and we will applaud and champion the likes of Angela Rayner with her 'Tory scum' rant. People need to look at how and why we ended up with a populist prime minister in the first place.

Populism is not just/only about austerity or the economy, it is a kick back to a perceived threat, be that a rewriting of history, telling people what is acceptable to say/wear/do, rewriting what defines a woman or the old chestnut of if you vote Conservative then you are a racist/nazi [or insert any other insult] whilst in the same breath shouting from the rooftops how tolerant and caring they are. This is driven predominantly by a very shouty element of the left and is not a way to win back voters. We live in a democracy where, within the law, we should be free to express our own opinion and not just be programmed to express the 'right opinion' or be told to shut up and our history is our history (good and bad), it's not there to be rewritten or erased. This is a concern that spans across all socio/economic groupings and until other political parties and the shouty people wake up to that then the kickback will continue while the shouty people will continue to voice the 'I can't understand why people ...... question.

lonelyapple · 20/10/2021 19:58

I don't think there is much difference anymore between the Tories, Labour and Lib Dem, they are all equally crap, so I probably wouldn't vote.

Are you claiming Johnson isn't all those things?
Mistlewoeandwhine · 20/10/2021 20:05

Labour

luckylavender · 20/10/2021 20:06

@StormzyinaTCup - I don't think they are slurs. They're facts. I'm not mad on Rayner either but as far as I know she's not corrupt. Don't 'but AirPods' me, we all know that's a business expense.

DecadentlyDecisive · 20/10/2021 20:11

@Dancerinthedark01

I’d vote Labour as I have a fantastic Labour MP where I live now.

Soon to be moving though to a Tory constituency. I don’t like the Labour candidate there so would vote Green. Or maybe Labour to get the Tory out.

I’m a floating voter who would vote Tory, if for example Rory Stewart was leading the party and he got all the current corrupt lot out.

So you're voting based on personalities rather than party policies?
DecadentlyDecisive · 20/10/2021 20:13

She's everything bad about Labour.

And weeks after her "Tory Scum" rant, one is killed.

Respect and tolerance has a place in politics.

malificent7 · 20/10/2021 20:14

I'd vote Green despite the fact that their gender politics are rubbish.Fed up with people fretting about climate change but not voting for people who care about it properly. Everone else will disagree but hey ho.

StormzyinaTCup · 20/10/2021 20:16

I’m not claiming or disclaiming anything about Johnson because this is not about just one man it’s about a lot more than that.

@luckylavender - Angela’s AirPods are the least of my concerns Wink

Iggly · 20/10/2021 20:28

By a possible Islamic Terrorist……

Whycangirlsbesonasty · 20/10/2021 20:28

I live in Scotland but would never, ever vote SNP (independence 10 x more economically damaging than Brexit - no thanks!). For the same reason the Greens are out which is a shame as I have voted for them many many times in the past. Labour the gender recognition stuff is a problem and I don’t approve of Boris But if I had to vote it would be whoever of Labour or Tories have best chance of beating SNP.

Nidan2Sandan · 20/10/2021 20:30

I vote Tory because Labour are a cruel party who think a few buzz words will win them voters whilst busy trying to erase what it is to be a woman.

Labour are despicable. Kier is an absolute snake. BJ doesnt hide behind popularity, he is taking the tough decisions and doesnt apologise for doing so. Whether I agree with all his policies or not, I still prefer the Tory party to the "Wipe Out Women" Labour party and I will continue to vote Tory until Labour gets a decent leader and pulls their head out of the woke agenda's arse and back into the real world.

OrangeBananaFish · 20/10/2021 20:34

I live in a very very very very safe blue seat (Rishi is my MP) so I don't think it really makes one bit of difference, but I have tended to swing between labour and lib dems through the past.

Really wouldn't have a clue if there was suddenly an election now.

Blossomtoes · 20/10/2021 20:34

And weeks after her "Tory Scum" rant, one is killed

By a terrorist. It could have been an MP from any party.

luckylavender · 20/10/2021 20:42

@DecadentlyDecisive - cheap Right Wing Press shot against Rayner. And I'm the one accused of slurs. Any MP could have been murdered.

pilates · 20/10/2021 20:48

Exactly. Blaming Angela Rayner for this is really scraping the barrel.
