If you've watched the documentary black and white by Ashley Banjo you will see what I mean.

This man is the most racist man I've seen on TV in recent years.

He's a disgrace.

FGS. Loving all the comments from the WOKE brigade. I actually know Royston Vasey (Chubby). Let me tell you something, there isn't a racist bone in that man's body, why on earth would anyone think otherwise? As has already been said on here, he is a professional comedian, an extremely funny and successful one at that. People are warned beforehand that if they are easily offended, then they should stay away. No one escapes his humor, fat, bald, old, ginger, Jewish, etc, etc. Let me also tell you, that Royston is also an old-fashioned gentleman. Indeed, woe betides any man that used bad language in front of a woman in front of Royston, I believe Bernard Manning was the same. Mannings's
worst and most offensive jokes were about Jews, despite himself being Jewish.

GoingOutOutNEVER · 24/10/2021 15:13

He still owns and appears on the pier in Great Yarmouth, Roy chubby Brown was doing a show there a couple of years ago. People still pay to see them, I was born in 1973 and these and other comedians were always on tv, they can’t or won’t admit that the world has moved on, despite some people still paying to see them

GoingOutOutNEVER · 24/10/2021 15:15

He leased the pier until 2002, but he stills headlines in the summer

midsomermurderess · 24/10/2021 15:17

'Cancelled'. Such a stupid term and concept. It's so spoilt, foot-stampingly childish. He is a horrible racist, sexist oaf, long consigned to obscurity. Surely that is enough?

donemeover · 24/10/2021 17:26

This is a ridiculous statement - and one commonly spouted out by none other than racists or those covering up for racists

How do you have racist bones anyway?

Grapewrath · 24/10/2021 18:04

I worked alongside him years ago when he had a show and I was stage crew temporarily. He is an absolute piece of shit. Really into much younger women and I’m talking teenagers. Vile.

CorvusPurpureus · 24/10/2021 18:49

Oddly, I have a family connection (now in her 60s) who worked with JD quite a lot back in the day. She was an actress, who had a few small breaks but was not terribly successful, & is now doing other things after abandoning acting 20 years ago.

She's always been adamant that JD was perfectly pleasant & professional over the years she worked with him. She'll concede that he wasn't the warmest or most likeable human being on the planet, but she reckons he was absolutely fine to work with.

But she will say this & then caveat it with 'mind you he was a nasty piece of work when he was pissed, & a bit handsy with younger women, & he could be bloody horrible to people a lot of the time, & I kept my distance from him off set because there'd always be ghastly stories about nights out, & he was a bit of a shit about me to other people after we stopped working together...'

I mean, this is someone who claims to have liked the bloke.

I'm not a fan of cancel culture, at all - but there does come a point when literally everyone is Sick Of Your Shit, I think.

His heyday was a bit before my time. Bits I've seen don't seem to be very funny, even if they weren't racist & sexist. Not edgy. Just beery bollocks with slightly better timing than your average pub bore.

Roy Chubby Brown was my neighbour-honestly didnt know he was RCB- a nice man and part of the village

A couple of years ago I checked into a hotel at the same time as Jim Davidson who it seems was doing a show in the hotel. As a woman alone I faced sexist comments from his followers in the lift going to my room which was increased when I went to the bar/restaurant. I checked out and refused to pay- after discussing with the manager their event choices and the implications for me as a woman.

Really? What evidence do you have to prove otherwise?

The above statement is commonly spouted out by those wishing to shut down dedbate. For example, you voted brexit equals racist.

RCB is indeed a gentleman and would be the first to defend a woman against any foul language or any sexist language aimed at them. One does wonder how on earth most of the posters on here can have an opinion on him unless of course, they themselves have been to one of his shows.

Unfortunately, I am unable to open that link you posted, so I am therefore unable to comment.

Nope. I would like to though. Any links? What was the context? Was it during a show or was it an interview to a local paper?

Danzig · 25/10/2021 21:29

Try this:

www.vice.com/amp/en/article/jmb4k4/roy-chubby-brown-gig-133

If you still can't open it, he uses numerous incredibly racist slurs and insults and at one point shouts sexist insults at a woman in the crowd.

Oh dearie me, you just don't get it, do you? This was said during his act. Don't you get it? ACT. Everyone in the crowd would have been made aware beforehand, that anyone easily offended should not attend his show. I reiterate my previous comments. RCB is a gentleman who doesn't have a racist, sexist bone in his body. His is just that, AN ACT, nothing more.
Danzig · 26/10/2021 02:18

I don't care what character he hides behind, yelling out racial slurs and telling racist jokes is racist.

Danzig · 26/10/2021 02:19

and so is anyone who finds it funny btw

donemeover · 26/10/2021 08:10

@Baluchistan95 have you read the article? Have you HEARD what your so called friend jokes about?

He's a disgusting racist. And you defending it makes you one too.

I don't understand why you think it makes a difference that it is an Act. This supposed non-racist chooses to put on public performances at which he is both racist and sexist and encourages other people to laugh at and put down racial minorities and women. No-one makes him do that, and there are plenty of very successful comedians manage without - but he chooses to have that sort of act. He is basically telling his audience that being a racist bigot is absolutely OK, and encouraging them to validate each other.

Ibelieveinghosts · 26/10/2021 08:43

Tbh I don’t think cancel culture is any way more acceptable than racism, sexism etc and actually probably exacerbates the issue it’s trying to solve. Make something forbidden and it often becomes more alluring.

To a certain extent you have alto accept that not everyone will think and behave in a way you find acceptable, all you can really control is how YOU react to something, the trouble starts to arise when people start drawing lines in the sand then act outraged when others follow. If that line in the sand has enough individuals standing behind it, chances are most people will join as human nature says there’s safety in numbers. But no matter what some people will always stand in opposition, if you burn them at the stake some people will hold them as martyrs, take them prisoner and you will forever need to police them. Best thing is, accept others disagree with you and the majority, if you don’t like it ignore them. I suspect there’s very few people left who will be educated out of racism, sexism etc. Meanwhile we need to concentrate on integration rather than the segregation currently featuring in the diversity strategy.

He doesn't do this in the town square. People choose to pay a sum of money to enter a private venue to watch him. In addition, people are warned beforehand that if they are easily offended then they should not attend.
