By talking about the environment to try and get us to forget about the racist allegations. I'd even go as far to say that what the queen said was all staged to make it more of a headline.

To think that the royal family is not racist is so redickulous...they are more than racist, they think their blood line nevermind race is worthy of all their wealth and luxuries over other people.

OP posts:

It's interesting that people are drawing attention to their own poor reading comprehension whilst taking the piss out of the OP's spelling mistake.

SoupDragon · 16/10/2021 11:54

I mean, it's phonetically correct, it's not that difficult to work out.

AnkleDeep · 16/10/2021 11:56

Daft post. Charlie has been banging on about it forever.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/10/2021 12:03

@MintJulia

Worth pointing out most royal estates use hydro-electric or ground source heat, Charles was campaigning on the environment before most politicians could spell it and the Queen is famously prudent in her domestic arrangements. So not fair at all.
I think this comment has been lost. This is a very good point albeit they do use fossil fuels for transport.

For context, the average house (729 sq ft) emits about 2.7 tons of CO2 a year in heating alone and to build that house, 50 tons. The average plane emits 1/4 ton CO2 an hour.

I take it the RF use hybrid or electric vehicles?

@AnkleDeep

Daft post. Charlie has been banging on about it forever.
From within the walls of one of his numerous homes, between which he frequently flies via helicopter. Then he wonders why he's seen as a joke who talks to plants.

The issue isn't what he's saying, it's who is saying it, and the hypocritical in his keenness to impose standards of behaviour on others which he has no intention of adhering to himself.

The man is a joke.

As for the tactics of burying bad news, as OP suggests, there's nothing at all daft about it. Their PR is transparent. It's not too great a stretch to figure out where at least some of the negativity toward Harry and Meghan is originating, and it's unlikely to be coincidental, either, that this campaign coincides precisely with the sunlight being shone on certain murky shenanigans involving a certain son of our unelected head of state.

They are a farce.

RedToothBrush · 16/10/2021 12:06

Phillip and Charles were banging on about land management, environmentalism and sustainability long before it was fashionable to do so.

Its not a passing bandwagon the Royals have jumped onto.

Its clearly something they actually believe in.

Which is fair enough.

Progress2019 · 16/10/2021 12:06

I don’t believe in the racist comments as such, but I think people do wonder out loud about who the baby will look like. Eg I wonder if the baby will be have blue eyes like Harry or whatever. Ok I have no idea if the royal family chat like this, but I genuinely don’t think any remark about what the baby would like like would be racist.

My mum is mixed race, and I’m fair skinned and blonde. I did wonder if my children would be darker, or have their dads green eyes or whatever. I didn’t care either way, but you have all these months to wonder. I know my mum wondered too. It wasn’t racist, more in a ‘aren’t genetics wonderful’ sort of way.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 16/10/2021 12:09

I think Prince Andrew is their biggest problem and they know it.

PooWillyNameChange · 16/10/2021 12:14

I think you're being harsh. Price Charles was on the radio last week saying he fuels his Aston Martin with surplus English white wine. I bet you just pour your surplus wine away. We could and should be more like them.

KeflavikAirport · 16/10/2021 12:21

If they cared about the environment they wouldn't keep 27 massive houses permanently on standby, ground heat or no. Or is making changes only for little people?

Heronwatcher · 16/10/2021 12:23

Prince Andrew is very tactile apparently…

viques · 16/10/2021 12:25

But he has non sweating testicles I understand.

OP, ignore the sneers about your spelling.
Your thinking is correct.
Of course the royals are working - sorry, what a silly thing to say, - of course the royal PR teams are working to counter the Andrew disgrace, the Harry truth bombs and the building anti royal sentiment in the country.
If you are watching PR team - your attempts aren’t working.
Yes there are a few die hard sycophants here but unfortunately for the royals their supporters can’t muster an argument . There are two reasons for that . One, their position is indefensible in the modern day and two, from my observation, being a royalist seems to often coincide with not being the sharpest thinker . Funny that .

Judging by the fact that his complexion is purple, I wouldn't mind betting it's already been recycled through him. Sad
TheKeatingFive · 16/10/2021 12:48

Believe in talking about.

I'd be interested in a calculation of how their carbon footprint compares to the people they're lecturing to.

😂 😂 😂

Some people are so easily duped I can't even.

prh47bridge · 16/10/2021 12:55

The polls suggest you are wrong. The most recent poll on the subject by YouGov shows that 61% of those questioned want to keep the monarchy compared to 24% wanting to replace the monarchy with an elected head of state. The other 15% were don't knows.

Support for the monarchy is even across social classes. Both Remain and Leave voters support the monarchy, although the margin is significantly bigger for Leave voters. Looking at how people vote, Conservatives strongly support the monarchy (as one might expect), LibDem voters also strongly support the monarchy but not as strongly as Conservatives. Labour voters are more evenly split with 43% in favour of the monarchy and 40% against.

If we look at individual members of the RF, most have a positive rating (i.e. those who have a positive view of them outnumber those who have a negative view), in most cases by a substantial margin. The only members of the family with negative ratings are Andrew, Harry and Meghan. Camilla is only positive by 1%, Charles is +17% and Edward is +20%. All other members of the family are above +50%.

Clearly your argument that support for the monarchy is down to "a few die hard sycophants" is wrong.

from my observation, being a royalist seems to often coincide with not being the sharpest thinker

Insulting those who disagree with you is not the way to persuade them.

This doesn't bode well at all actually. The Queen is very popular. Once she goes and Charles takes over, their popularity will wane significantly alongside demographic shifts towards a younger and less enamoured population.

I'd be very interested to see the polls 5 years into Charles reign.
