you cant moan about the cost of something, because there is always osmeone here who has a hell of a lot less, wo they lambast you for being able to even think about getting it.
or they moan at you for having too much time on your hands
or too little
or being a sahm
or not being one
or bloody anthing. its just not possible to have a moan about anything anymore. every one is soooo pc about everything.
its turning into real life.

I have just asked my DP whether he has ever heard of fisking - unfortunately he misheard me and gave me a long explanation of fisting. Will not provide the thickipedia link to that one.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 10/12/2007 20:00

Ugh fisking, that's what it is called is it??
I hate when people do that then the answer to every bit of your post they have picked to pieces is still the original point you made.
I just wonder what the point was of all their writing in bold and nitpicking.

UnquietDad · 10/12/2007 22:57

I often feel like doing the old-fashioned Parliamentary respnse "I refer the honourable lady to the answer I gave some moments ago".

Swedes2Turnips1 · 10/12/2007 23:14

I think it is also the case that people become entrenched precisely because their viewpoint is set out in writing, in black and white for all to see, evn though it might have been before they thought about the counter argument/opinion. The same arguments against having a written constitution apply. We all come over all US of A.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 10/12/2007 23:21

Lol UQD, Does sound a little better than my usual, as I said................

Swedes, I think for some people not actually considering the opposing argument to their POV makes them blind to it. I have (not often I grant) admitted I may have been slightly wrong.

I have said, 'I see your point' goodness knows how many times, but for some it seems impossible.

suzywong · 10/12/2007 23:24

it's been too big for years now
and too fluffly

Monkeytrousers · 10/12/2007 23:25

Yes, I agree.

And before you start, I only act as devils advocate for the sake of debate!

Twinklemegan · 10/12/2007 23:26

TinyTim said "I do however try to be more tactful towards people who may be feeling utterly shite, and because of my post, feel even worse."

I'm very glad of that TT because many other Mumsnetters don't bother and that can cause a lot of upset IME.

Monkeytrousers · 10/12/2007 23:31

And agree with fisking, it sounds like a good idea, but it just gets tedious after a while - like get a room you two!

(I am having an extension built at this very moment for such purposes )

And it's too po-faced and masculine - like I shout louder than you, so therefore I am the best..well no, we were just having a nap.

One person even finished a post to me with 'ha' - the momentum gets to them I think.

Monkeytrousers · 10/12/2007 23:33

Too fluffy and (never thought I would ever hear myself say it but..) PC Suzy. The thought police have arrived on MN.

Maybe that is why Cod is such a virtual treasure?

Monkeytrousers · 10/12/2007 23:34

and the soppy demographic just exploded after the GF debacle.

Can I sue?

Swedes2Turnips1 · 10/12/2007 23:50

monkeytrousers - ha.

IorekTheRedNosedArmouredBear · 11/12/2007 15:34

I don't think it's all that PC on Mumsnet - I've just read on another thread someone suggesting that married women have a duty to have sex with their husbands at least once a week whether they like it or not! And I don't think she was joking!

mrsruffallo · 11/12/2007 15:36

Well, if you don't want him to stray you must keep him happy
