Do you think you would survive in a zombie apocalypse?

YABU - no, not a chance they would catch me and eat me.

YANBU - I would survive and would be fine.

I have regular nightmares about zombies. Last one was awful I killed it and it pricked my finger with its nail as it died. I cut my finger off to stop the infection but when I checked my arm later it had spread and told my dad to watch my daughter whilst I went outside and he knew he'd have to shoot me. Woke up sobbing.

I think I'd survive. I have so much experience in this because of my nightmares EnvyShockConfused

mountbattenbergcake · 15/10/2021 16:27

I actually love to rewatch the early seasons of The Walking Dead as love the way they keep surviving.

I would be a hider, not a fighter.

peaceanddove · 15/10/2021 16:30

I simply cannot function without my silk pillowcase and Shellac manicures. I'd be dead within the first day, and happy to go.........

GTAlogic · 15/10/2021 16:42

I have plenty of knitting needles and kitchen knives to use as weapons but we're in the middle of a large housing estate and our garden isn't particularly secure. We're also shit at growing stuff so would be screwed food wise. I'm very unfit and have no stamina so running away would be tricky. I think I'd be joining the zombie team within a week.

Rubyupbeat · 15/10/2021 16:45

I would be happier if the zombies were walking dead type ones, as they are slow and stumbley, but don't think I would survive if they were 28 days later type zombies, that run like the clappers.

donquixotedelamancha · 15/10/2021 16:45

I teach in a high school, a zombie apocalypse would be a lovely relaxing holiday for me.

SickAndTiredAgain · 15/10/2021 16:47

Not only would I not survive, if we’re talking a The Walking Dead scenario, that kind of scale, I don’t want to survive.

CyclingUpHill · 15/10/2021 16:49

My DH and DD both watch the Walking Dead, so I assume they'd help me through it?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/10/2021 17:37

I don't want to worry you all, but I'm watching the second Zombie Land film and the zombies are more than just slow-moving, stupid things. They have 'Homers' which are traditional zombies. 'Hawkings' which are still slow moving but have some brain power and can problem solve to get at their victims. Finally, 'Ninjas' fast moving and silent "The first sound your hear is your own scream as they bite you".

Slightly off topic but I love the first Zombieland but i’m terrified of ruining that if I watch the second because so many people have told me it’s awful!
BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/10/2021 17:40

It's not awful yet, but I'm only about 20 mins in.

afrikat · 15/10/2021 17:43

I feel like I've been preparing for a zombie apocalypse my entire life. There was a Derren Brown thing years ago where they set up a bloke to think he'd woken up in a zombie apocalypse. I warned my husband to NEVER do anything similar to me as I would be smashing brains in without hesitation

or even the I am Legend zombies. They were lightning fast at night.
shouldistop · 15/10/2021 17:46

My husband was Boy Scout until he was 18, we'd be fine Grin

SquirrelFan · 15/10/2021 17:46

@Soyouthought the Eau du Zombie sounds great in theory, but what if you had an open cut (likely if you're not living the cushy pre-ZA life many of us are used to)? Zombie spray would infect you pretty quickly (through your eyes, or breathing even...). Unless... unless it actually inoculated you somehow, or worked like a homeopathic remedy!

Vates · 15/10/2021 17:49

Any zombies and I would most definitely be eaten! I think people forget that even a scratch will infect you, kill you and turn you. And those shit head zombies will be literally everywhere.

Vates · 15/10/2021 17:51

shouldistop - please say that is ala Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. Such an underrated film!

SleepingStandingUp · 15/10/2021 17:51

Well I'm an iZombie kind girl so I'd just get a nice one to scratch me and eat @Coffeeonmytoffee, @spidersareshitheads, @Kanaloa and a few others

HippyChickMama · 15/10/2021 17:52

DS and I have a plan for this (DH and DD think we're ridiculous). We'd head to our local Asda which has a Decathlon inside it for Dawn of the Dead style zombie survival. We figure it has everything we'd need to survive, metal shutters on the outside, plenty of food, toiletries and first aid supplies, Decathlon for survival equipment and weapon components and an upstairs with small windows for firing homemade weapons at the zombies. We'd be okay for a couple of years I reckon

HouseOfFire · 15/10/2021 17:52

@shakehandswithdanger

What are all these fast zombies people keep mentioning?! 😯 I've only ever seen the slow, dragging-feet type of zombie.

28 Days Later had fast zombies, I think. I Am Legend's "infected" were speedy, too. Maybe also World War Z? I can't remember much about that one.

And the Korean ones?
shouldistop · 15/10/2021 17:53

@Vates he genuinely was in the scouts until he was 18 but now I want to watch that film Grin

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 15/10/2021 17:54

I am a bit worried about the WWZ zombies but on the whole I think my dodgy thyroid and extreme allergies would put them off

Also I am on the board of fame at a local Axe Hurling place for a double handed, double bullseye...that's an axe in each hand, hurled simultaneously to the bullseye, so I feel that skill set will suffice.

Not bad for a middle aged woman I thought. :o :o

Happy to cook for a crowd, making meals out of random items, and can crochet, knit and sew, so very handy for the Post Apocalyptic Hygge .

Z nation had slow zombies until some started sprinting, that would terrify me lol

Harryfrog12 · 15/10/2021 17:57

I think is be ok zombie wise but would probably starve quite quickly as i cant even decide what to eat from my own fridge nevermind scavaging for food and also i need lots of sleep so id be pretty dead there too

Vates · 15/10/2021 17:57

As for Zombie entertainment; adored the walking dead up until end of season 6 (got too depressing and hated Negan), hated zombieland so didn't bother with the second. Just re-watched the Dawn of the Dead remake this afternoon, cheesy fun. Liked Night of the Living Dead (which probably kicked everything off!) and original Dawn of the Dead. Found Day of the Dead, erm, ok but couldn't beat that jump scare. Right now I can't thnk of the zombie films I have watched. Blank mind! There are crap but also awesome ones. p.s. Scouts guide to the zombie apocalypse. loved that!
