Do you think you would survive in a zombie apocalypse?

YABU - no, not a chance they would catch me and eat me.

YANBU - I would survive and would be fine.

@Coffeeonmytoffee I am currently watching a series on Netflix where one of the early characters is deaf. Predictably it does not end well for him.

I'm disabled so I'm screwed.

TyrannysaurusXXrightshoarder · 15/10/2021 10:08

@Coffeeonmytoffee

I'm deaf and wear glasses - so no hope.
No no no, have you not seen A Quiet Place? You’re going to save the world! (Admittedly aliens not zombies in that film, but I’m sure it’ll be the same Smile)
LifesABotch · 15/10/2021 10:10

YABU

No faith in myself in this respect! Can imagine how EXHAUSTING and terrifying it would be Shock

Vanuatu · 15/10/2021 10:12

28 Days Later completely changed my plans for a zombie apocalypse.
I can't outrun a toddler so would last about two seconds Grin

hangrylady · 15/10/2021 10:12

@CiaoForDiNiaoSaur

I'm too lazy to run away so they could feast on my rather large body. Grin
Haha. I don't think I could be arsed either, and if you did survive you'd have to sort out all the mess. No thanks.
Mypathtriedtokillme · 15/10/2021 10:14

I’m in Australia.
Give it 3 weeks and the fly population would of dealt with any dead shamblers.

I’m currently planning for the post zombie, fly apocalypse the truely awful apocalypse.

BippityBoppity87 · 15/10/2021 10:17

If I was in my flat, maybe the first week (top floor) and if I put enough obstacles on the stair so they couldn't climb up. And if I had water. But tbh, I reckon we'd get blown up if the outbreak was bad enough (live in a big city) to minimise the spread. Incredibly morbid I know, and cynical, but I reckon that's probably what would happen

If I was out in the open, I'd be fucked as I can't run. My knees are buggered. Unless they were the slow decaying type ones, I might be ok

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/10/2021 10:19

DH has a huge vinyl record collection, we’ll be fine.

Deadringer · 15/10/2021 10:22

I would survive for a while if i was at home when it occurred but i don't think i would want to.

ComDummings · 15/10/2021 10:29

Would anyone even want to survive for long, if we are talking a World War Z or Walking Dead scenario? If I wasn’t one of the first to go I’d probably end up just giving up Grin

Loyaultemelie · 15/10/2021 10:35

Both DC are fully prepared for a zombie apocalypse, they even have booby traps.Dh is too laid back, if we told him there was a zombie apocalypse he'd say "aye dead on" and just carry on as normal so be eaten/turned. I'm disabled so would probably be too slow so I think the kids would sacrifice me and defend themselves Grin

MarshmallowSwede · 15/10/2021 10:35

I would survive. All the people who are taking pics for Instagram and social media would give you so many opportunities to get to safety.

SpiceRat · 15/10/2021 10:37

I’d take a bullet to the brain over running tbh Grin
Thurlow · 15/10/2021 10:40

I’d be fucked, I’d be categorically useless.

However that doesn’t stop me occasionally having some lovely daydreams where there’s a zombie apocalypse and I get saved by Jon Bernthal’s Shane from TWD.

Lj8893 · 15/10/2021 10:46

It’s a running joke in my house that I’d be a badass in a zombie apocalypse but wouldn’t take any prisoners so wouldn’t be any use to anybody else, I would definitely be only looking after number 1 Grin
DH would be ok for a day or 2 but would get bored and tired after a while and give up.

Horst · 15/10/2021 10:47

Depends on the type of zombie. Z nation zombies nah I guess I’m dead.

Those 1990’s slow ass zombies yeah I’m sure I could last a while.

julieca · 15/10/2021 10:59

Yes in some of these programmes I do wonder why people want to survive.

Ski4130 · 15/10/2021 11:13

I read zombie novels voraciously, but have to fast foward through any fast running zombie bits in films, i much prefer a shuffly, slow moving zombie - the ones in World War Z and I am Legend petrify me.

I think I'd be ok for a while, but would also get really tired of killing zombies (long sharpened screwdriver through the brain obvs) and trying to stay safe, so would probably just give in and get bitten after a while.

julieca · 15/10/2021 11:15

The thing is you would be exhausted. They spend so much time running around surviving and hardly any time sleeping or resting.

OP posts:
IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 15/10/2021 11:18

I think I would be fine because I would avoid the biggest danger of all - other people. The living ones.

It's them I'd need to fight off more than the zombies.

As long as the zombies aren't those horrible cheating ones that can run really fast.

That's simply not on. Zombies shuffle. That's the rule.

TheWoleb · 15/10/2021 11:18

I took one of those stupid facebook quizzes once. It said I would survive 3 months and then die showing off in a fight with a zombie. I'm not sure that's accurate.

I think I work do pretty well! I'm hardy. Raised on a farm, pretty good at "survival" stuff. Actually quite good at self defence.

Tirediam · 15/10/2021 11:19

Depends … are they World War Z zombies or walking dead zombies ?
Walking dead yes, WWZ no

Soyouthought · 15/10/2021 11:19

How do zombies know your not a zombie? So my thinking is it’s probably smell. So capture one zombie kill and blend, freeze in small freezer bags and add to atomiser for a daily spritz. Add gloop to room diffusers to keep your house zombie free. Repeat when your zombie juice is running low.

TheWoleb · 15/10/2021 11:20

@MrsSkylerWhite

This is my favourite response.
