I feel like at 48, I have really started to age- creepy neck, a bit jowly, going a bit grey and not feeling great to be honest! I look after myself - don’t really drink as I see it on my face, wear nice clothes, nice hair etc but it’s becoming an effort ☹️ Wasn’t expecting it actually!! I always thought I looked pretty good for my age. I know it’s vain and I shouldn’t care but it’s just weird!!

Other friends have said 40/even 38 (body aches and pains, not so much looking old)

The pandemic has not helped: everyone I know has aged about 10 years since March 20

ojojojoja · 07/10/2021 17:11

the day I gave birth to my son! (33). Then it became a bit better again a few years later. I'm 42 now and a bit up and down with the ageing thing.

wolfstarling · 07/10/2021 17:13

45

ReeseWitherfork · 07/10/2021 17:14

I'm 32 and had a horrific realisation when I was late 20s that gravity was starting to hit and my skin wasn't as fresh and smooth as it had once been. Then I slowly learnt to accept it. So assuming maybe it comes in waves?

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 07/10/2021 17:16

After I had my first child (32)! She’s only a few years old so hoping I might bounce back at some point.
I just saw a photo of DH and I from about 2 years before she was born and I couldn’t believe how different I looked compared to now. DH looks the same Confused

SecretKeeper1 · 07/10/2021 17:17

About 45 when my eyelids seemingly collapsed overnight. And my skin now looks a bit pore-y. My biggest issue is under eye wrinkles (not bags, just crepey wrinkles), any suggestions?!

Pinkchocolate · 07/10/2021 17:17
  1. I developed aches and pains everywhere, I’m tired much more, I want to stay home in my pyjamas more. I’m forty and my face has aged at least ten years in the last five.
CovidCorvid · 07/10/2021 17:18

45yo. Grey, jowels, wrinkles. Not good.

SirChenjins · 07/10/2021 17:20

Late forties too. I started going grey in my thirties so Have got used to colouring it, but have the jowls, some wrinkles and skin that is a bit bumpy - can’t remember what the Dr said they’re called. I try and keep my weight down, drink very little alcohol, don’t smoke etc, but I’m certainly middle aged now.
I know Im lucky to have got to this age with (touch wood) very little wrong with me and when so many others don’t, but the face in the mirror is definitely ageing!

Movinghouseatlast · 07/10/2021 17:21
  1. I now actually look like a different person. I don't recognise myself sometimes
TheUnbearable · 07/10/2021 17:21

51 after the menopause, the hormones ran out and everything went South.

Hullbilly · 07/10/2021 17:39

48 I started to look and feel terrible.

LouLou789 · 07/10/2021 17:46

I was ok until I was 47. Got cancer and the treatments knocked me for six, plus the instant menopause. Never the same after that. However, with no cancer (ie looking round my friends) I would say 50 is quite a watershed.

loopylindi · 07/10/2021 17:57

As long as I was mobile. Ten yrs ago I developed OA and from then on it's been downhill. Total knee replacement needed but since covid no ops being done here and its coming up to 2trs of being virtually housebound. Trouble is my brain says 'today I'll do such and such' and as soon as my feet touch down brain changes its mind. Be assured though, you will always look out at the world with the eyes of your youth. It's only when your bod gets in on the act that things go wrong.

julieca · 07/10/2021 17:59

Fifty. Photos of me at 53 and 50 are only 3 years apart, but I look much older. It is a bit depressing really.
But I guess the next stage is when you start to look like a proper old woman. That seems to happen for most in their seventies. I have seen it in a friend now in her mid-seventies.

LeaveYourHatOn · 07/10/2021 18:00

I've really noticed it in the last year. I don't know how much of it is due to lockdowns/covid/general shite and how much is natural, but I feel like I've aged 5 years in the last 12 months.
It's really depressing actually.

Iwab82 · 07/10/2021 18:02

Feel like I looked pretty youthful at 40 but now I'm 46 am really feeling and looking older. Still get people thinking I'm younger but starting to think they are just being nice!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 07/10/2021 18:05

It is worse after the menopause.

Andante57 · 07/10/2021 18:06

Everything went south - bosom, bottom, chin, cheeks even the soles of my feet collapsed making my feet a size larger.
It saddens me looking in the mirror.

BuddhaAtSea · 07/10/2021 18:07
  1. Jowly, puffy eyes, lots of grey hair, collapsed eyelids, middle aged mum posture. However, I am physically much fitter than in my 20s or 30’s.
VickyEadieofThigh · 07/10/2021 18:07

51, menopause. It's quite astonishing how fast my body changed.

Bagelsandbrie · 07/10/2021 18:07

About 40. I’m nearly 41 now and I look pretty wrinkly and ancient in photos. The mirror lies to me though and still says I’m about 25. HmmGrin

HistoriaTrixie · 07/10/2021 18:09

I had a total hysterectomy/oophorectomy at 45 and that was the start of the slide. I still feel quite vital, if that makes any sense, but at nearly-50 I can tell that my skin is losing collagen, it's harder to keep muscle mass, my hair is thinning somewhat, and I'm beginning to show the turkey-neck that all the women in my family get once the aging hits.

BBCK · 07/10/2021 18:10
  1. Menopause and can’t wear high heels now. Having my lashes done knocks a few years off though😂
PrescriptionOnlyMedicine · 07/10/2021 18:13

Around about the 50 mark. I keep blaming the pandemic but I’m pretty sure menopause is the main culprit.
