I feel like at 48, I have really started to age- creepy neck, a bit jowly, going a bit grey and not feeling great to be honest! I look after myself - don’t really drink as I see it on my face, wear nice clothes, nice hair etc but it’s becoming an effort ☹️ Wasn’t expecting it actually!! I always thought I looked pretty good for my age. I know it’s vain and I shouldn’t care but it’s just weird!!

40, but I'm gonna focus on how I feel instead. I need to lose at least two stone, probably more like 3. I'm bracing myself for what the skin is gonna do when I eventually lose it. A popped balloon springs to mind... But HRT and lots of vitamin d have reversed the aches and pains, so that's brilliant.

justasking111 · 07/10/2021 19:26

@KimDeals

I don't know how Amal can live with George. The old man smell...

Grin actually you’re right! The old man smell UGH!

Like a bad damp dog.

There's an old woman smell too
justasking111 · 07/10/2021 19:28

Post pandemic I'm certainly stiff and ache. Have dug out my physio exercises hoping they will help.

frumpety · 07/10/2021 19:29

I find not wearing my glasses when looking in the mirror helps, had the misfortune to look in someones massively magnified beauty mirror the other day, where the chuff did all the hair come from ? I tried to pluck a couple of the worst most pubic looking ones out and ended up curling them like gift wrap ribbon and DD has nicked my tweezers !

bigbaggyeyes · 07/10/2021 19:30

After the birth of my first child. I was in my mid 30s. I put it down to the lack of sleep but I never really got past it. I've recently put on about 3 stone (in about 5 years) and I'm now late 40s and I really feel like I'm showing my age and looking a bit shit.

Youcancallmeval · 07/10/2021 19:32

I aged in every way in my early 30s when I had a series of bloody awful events in a short space of time. Facially, 45 was a bit of a steep decline. I developed both a double chin and crepey neck, started going grey and my lips seemed to get thinner. I look in the mirror and see my dad looking back at me, which is most peculiar.

Idontlike · 07/10/2021 19:37

46 after surgical menopause.
Up until then I regularly got taken for mid 30’s. It has been a shock to age so drastically, almost overnight.

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 07/10/2021 19:37

35 when I had my second. It was a very steep decline from exhaustion and the lockdown weight hasn’t helped. Eyes are baggy, I’m jowly, I feel like shit.

TrueGrit54 · 07/10/2021 19:37

I looked fine at 50, now 54 and big decline.

supermum87 · 07/10/2021 19:39

Not me but my mum is 60 and I'd say in the last 3/4 years. She has more of a "grandma" face now. It's been really strange for me to see. My youngest is 6 and when he was 1 she took him to the local park and one of the dads thought she was his mum! Her eyes have always been quite set back (mine are the complete opposite) but recently her eyes really seem to droop. I think that's what ages her the most. I still think she looks great for 60 though!

My old boss is 62 and looks 49! She's had no work done. She's just very very lucky!

OverByYer · 07/10/2021 19:40

I’m 50 in a few weeks and still doing ok. I only have a few grey hairs at my temples and thanks to a strong jawline ( big bloody chin) don’t have jowls, do have marionette lines starting though. Forehead not too wrinkly. Eyes are probably my worst area. I’m waiting for it all to hit south soon though

Applesonthelawn · 07/10/2021 19:41

51 menopause. Then you fall off another cliff at 62 ish.

speakout · 07/10/2021 19:44

Then you fall off another cliff at 62 ish.

Really? I am not planning that. But 51 wasn't a big deal for me either.

StillMedusa · 07/10/2021 19:44
  1. (now nearly 54) I'm the same weight and size I was at 20, I walk miles with the dog, kayak at weekends and have an active job... but my body is softer and every part aches...and my face.. saggy, wrinkly and it's all slipped south. No amount of yoga is going to fix that Grin

Deliberately gone grey which probably doesn't help, and I'm unapologetic about ageing.. this is me... but dear Lord some mornings the old woman looking back at me in the mirror is a shock. Pre 50 I looked ok... but then menopause hit!

Ori3 · 07/10/2021 19:44

I’ve just turned 39 & I have definitely aged over the past year. Quite rapidly. My hair is grew round the temples, my face is quite puffy & the lines more noticeable. My hair’s also got a lot thinner since I had my children. I never had thick hair anyway but I can see my scalp now in patches occasionally.

My body complains more, and, I’m slower physically than I ever used to be. I’ve also noticed the area around my jawline becoming more saggy slightly.

God knows what I’ll look like if I ever make it to 50. My SIL has just turned 50 & she looks damn good on it. I don’t think I will!!!

twirlinginthesnow · 07/10/2021 19:46

I am 38 and it started at 35 for me. I've definitely lost the youthful look.

brittleheadgirl · 07/10/2021 19:46

I'm 50 and honestly feel and look great, I've always been very particular about my weight, hair, make up etc and have never smoked and rarely drink alcohol.

When I was in my 20s everyone warned me I'd decline in my 30s, late 30s it was my 40s I was warned about and so it goes on! I've had people warning me I'm about to start ageing rapidly for 25 years!!

I'm now being told that everything will go to pot in my 50s and once again I'm half thinking 'no it bloody wont' and half worrying folk are right!

My dh is still in his 30s and he seems to be ageing more rapidly than me, I do think it hits men sooner than women but maybe I'm wrong?

cushioncovers · 07/10/2021 19:47
  1. The menopause has well and truly kicked in. I feel like I've aged ten years. Everything hurts. Everything has started sagging and getting puckered. Even my ass has changed shape.
Ori3 · 07/10/2021 19:47

I think a lot of it might be down to stress. I had a trauma birth with my first son & some of my hair fell out. It never grew back to what it was before.

Pretendingtosmile · 07/10/2021 19:48

35 for me. Massive trauma, life upheaval, chuck in a pandemic and my looks fell off a cliff edge. For years I looked about 23.... Alas, no longer.

Thighdentitycrisis · 07/10/2021 19:48

About 50 I think
It’s all downhill from there

BigSandyBalls2015 · 07/10/2021 19:48

I find different mirrors give me a different impression of myself …. Stayed in an air bnb recently and couldn’t believe how fucking ancient I looked! Back home I’m much happier Grin

Beetlewing · 07/10/2021 19:48

I'm 50 and I see a little softening of my jawline. Am totally fine with it, the alternative is filler-face. ugh

Icenii · 07/10/2021 19:49

I'm 43 and kind of feel fascinated with watching how I'm aging. I'm thinking about 50 and wonder what I'll look like. It's like a journey into the unknown.

Main thing I'm worried about is losing height when I'm already under 5 foot.

lentilsandeggs · 07/10/2021 19:49
  1. Saggy cheeks, grey streaks, skin seems to be missing elasticity.
