I first started to 'age' at around 47/48 years old. I seem to age suddenly actually!!!
From my early to mid 20s, I always looked 7 or 8 years younger than my age. At 40, I went to New Zealand for a birthday trip. Loads of people were shocked I was 40, and swore I looked 32/33.
I got married in my mid 20s, and looked 18 on my wedding day.
At 46, I looked more like 38.
Then by 48, I suddenly looked 50. So I seemed to age 12 years, in 2 years.
Within 2 years, I went from people thinking was in my late 30s, to people inviting me to over 50s groups. It was such a shock, and upset me more than I care to admit. (At the time.)
I am in my mid 50s now, and people still think I am in my early to mid 50s, so I don't think I have aged much in the past 5 years. I see women of 58-60 in my village who look 55. So I don't think I will age much for another ten years, and will probably look mid to late 50s at 63-64. Then I will age suddenly again, and suddenly look 70 when I am 68!
So yeah, looking 8-10 years younger for around 25 years, caught up with me eventually!!! I didn't end up jowly or saggy faced or anything, I just suddenly looked much closer to my age by 47-48, but I can't articulate why. Few more lines and wrinkles, started to go grey at the temples, and just looked 50, (when I looked 38 two years earlier!!!) WEIRD!!!
'Suddenly ageing' seems to be around their late 40s for many women, but we can all take comfort in the fact that we probably won't age 'suddenly' again for about 18-20 years.
