XenoBitch · 05/10/2021 00:43

Yes, if you also lived in the Middle Ages.

1forAll74 · 05/10/2021 01:29

Such a silly thought. Nobody can say what a middle age is. People in the older days, used to say that you were middle aged when you reached about 40/45 ish. I rarely hear the term middle aged these days, maybe it just makes people feel old, when they are still raring to go.

Graphista · 05/10/2021 01:41

Grin no! Just no!

Many people are now living well into 90's making middle age late 40's/50's which tbh is how I've always thought of middle age anyway

26 hasn't been Middle Aged since ... the Middle Ages?!

Strokethefurrywall · 05/10/2021 01:52

Hahaha pipe down love.

I turned 42 today and feel younger now than I did at 26! Certainly in better physical shape, better health, better outlook on life and a better bank balance!

Crack on living OP, the best is yet to come. Im pretty sure by the time I turn 50 that I’m heading into the fucking awesome years!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/10/2021 01:55

I'm nearly 46 so I guess that makes me decrepit thenSad.
Here's me thinking I'm still a Spring Chick. Well we can all dream I suppose.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Bombaloorina · 05/10/2021 02:09

Sorry you’ve had such a dull 20s, OP.

GreyGoose1980 · 05/10/2021 02:12

@Youcancallmeval

YABV ridiculous. 26 is young. 30 is still young. I would always have said 40s was middle aged, but as I approach 50, am moving the goalposts.

Are you drinking again?

SnowyPetals · 05/10/2021 02:28

Well, I suppose 26 might be middle aged if you had completed your family by age 15 and are planning on dying at about 50.

HoppingPavlova · 05/10/2021 03:06

Good tryConfused

gofg · 05/10/2021 03:12

I'm 62 and even I don't feel middle-aged! (Please, there is no need to tell me I am, or have even passed that point).

PhlegmDelacour · 05/10/2021 04:46

If I look at the mortality of my most recent female relatives then at 32 I am a few years over middle aged!

This terrifies the shit out of me.

Aprilx · 05/10/2021 04:47

I am 51 and am just about starting to think that maybe I am middle aged. But I am not totally convinced.

UnsuitableHat · 05/10/2021 05:03

I dislike the term ‘middle aged’ and, in particular, the way it’s used with a negative connotation. But whatever, 26 isn’t close to it.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 05/10/2021 05:05

Oh F off with your pity party. I'm 47 and don't consider myself 'middle aged'. Last week I was on holiday with my love, rented a boat and went skinny dipping.

Sorry if you have a dull life, but that's entirely up to you.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/10/2021 05:15

I'm 31 and I'm nowhere near middle aged! You sound very unsatisfied.

motherrunner · 05/10/2021 05:23

At 26 I had been out of uni a few year and would spend my summer holidays (I’m a teacher) travelling. The time between leaving uni and when I had my children at 32 were the ‘free’ years. Even after children we still ‘get out there’ but we’ve swapped climbing in Yosemite for hill and dale walking with the kids. If you’re feeling ‘old’ at 26 you’re either ill (so see a GP) or bored (so get out and do something about it).

newtb · 05/10/2021 05:26

In my wedding photos I'm 21 my dm 62 and df 70. DM never ever owned a pair of jeans.
She once told me that in her head she felt 25, in 1940, 'entertaining' the troops, nicking condoms off the shelf as she went out for the night. Her df was a, nearly, bankrupt pharmacist 🤔.
I live in jeans, don't own 'slacks' and am shocked to see this fat old bag looking at me from the mirror. I had a car accident that broke spines in my neck, my thyroid, and my ability to do 8 chin-ups.
However, she lived to 96, her cousin to 102 her aunts to around 100 or so.
Middle aged? Am I heck as like!
I've arthritis in my neck, thanks xdh, but, for some unknown reason am getting chatted up by 30 year olds who want to look after me.

All I need is a 12" sharp steel hat pin and I should be ok 😊

Life is for living, we're a long time dead. And I say that as someone who's recently had a NDE.

Balonzette · 05/10/2021 05:28

Ha ha ha yes YABU.

18-30 Young adult 30-50 Adult adult) 50-60 Middle aged adult 60-75 Older adult 75+ elderly
I like this. Think it reflects where we are, in general, these days. Though i know various people at 75+ whom I wouldn't describe as 'elderly'.

It's not tha long ago, though - a couple of generations - that people were having families much younger and also tended to 'leave their youth behind' very early - these days people dress like their teenage children to an extent, that would have been unthinkable then.

Sprostongreen21 · 05/10/2021 06:12

@julieca

Early 40s is about middle-aged. Average life expectancy is early 80's, so makes sense that half that age is middle-aged. Do you come from a country where life expectancy is much lower?
This is probably right. I’m 42 I’m probably just starting Middle Age I don’t really care though. I’m fit and active. Have a good lifestyle.Love how I’ve always lived. Although peri is starting to creep in. 30? I met my man I was not middle aged.

Some don’t live to see middle age.

Kettletoaster · 05/10/2021 06:28

🤣🤣🤣

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/10/2021 06:36

In my mid 20s I still felt like a teenager! FGS don't wish your life away.

pasturesgreen · 05/10/2021 06:45

YABU, 26 is young.

However, I don't share the optimistic view of many on here: those who say middle age is 60 or older, are you expecting to live to 120? Confused

FWIW, I'm 36 and definitely approaching middle age, in my opinion at least. Average life expectancy in this country is, what?, around 80 I guess, so there you go.
