26? Middle aged?

Nope. When middle age kicks in, you will know.

You are not middle aged.

Notimeforaname · 04/10/2021 23:53

🤣🤣 ye freak

BiscuitKitten · 04/10/2021 23:53

Mathematically, you're not totally wrong if you divide life into beginning, middle and end.

Generously, with a life expectancy of 90, 0-30 is youth, 30-60 is middle age and 60-90 is old age.

In practical terms it's a bit different. I wouldn't consider 30 middle-aged, or 60 old.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/10/2021 23:57

27 to 35 were the best years.
I'm 50 something and middle aged. I'm very glad I had a blast when I was young!

OffCycling · 05/10/2021 00:00

I sympathise OP. The year I turned 30 my Mum's school friend died age 60, my MIL's best friend died age 60 and my MIL (also age 60) was diagnosed with cancer which sadly proved terminal just 3 years later. I felt very middle aged that year, as if half my life had already gone. None of us know what time we have left so make the most of it. However, if it's any consolation, I feel less middle aged now I'm in my 40s than I did that year at 30.

SolitaryTree · 05/10/2021 00:00

@poullou 🤣

fruitbrute · 05/10/2021 00:01

Really? You are in your physical prime and will be for at least another decade or so, longer if you take care of yourself. Don't waste your youth thinking you're already past it!
Honestly I used to hate the phrase "youth is wasted on the young" but I'm finally starting to understand it now I'm at the grand old age of 45

julieca · 05/10/2021 00:03

It is very true that youth is wasted on the young. But what it really means is that you would do some things different with the benefit of hindsight. For example the teenage angst.

jenkel · 05/10/2021 00:03

Oh dear, what does that make me at 52, I def don’t feel middle aged, in fact am more active and do more at 52 than 30.

TableFlowerss · 05/10/2021 00:05

18-30 Young adult
30-50 Adult adult)
50-60 Middle aged adult
60-75 Older adult

Tenfifteen · 05/10/2021 00:06

Blimey! How soon are planning to go?!

ducksalive · 05/10/2021 00:07

Bless your heart.
From an actual middle aged person mid 40's.

Happyfeet1972 · 05/10/2021 00:07

Get a grip and stop wasting your youth worrying about these things - middle age will be here before you know it and you'll regret feeling that way in your 20s

Innit.
thepeopleversuswork · 05/10/2021 00:16

Jesus H. I'm nudging 50 and I still don't think of myself as middle aged.

You need an early life crisis, love.

NoLeafClover · 05/10/2021 00:18

What does middle aged feel like, though? It's such an arbitrary term. And pointless really, depending on how long you end up living. My Nan died at 91, so technically middle aged for her was 45 and a half years old. My friend died at 40, so in the end she was 'middle aged', ie at the mid-point of her life, when she was 20. Another friend died at 18, so her middle age was when she was 9.

Just live your life and enjoy it as best as you can. Random age-based labels really don't make a difference.

Evangelo · 05/10/2021 00:18

At this rate, the only one who's middle-aged is the Queen.

furbabymama87 · 05/10/2021 00:19

Maybe back in the 1800s. These days middle age is about 45.

Berkeys · 05/10/2021 00:23

No, you’re still a baby. 40s onwards, sure.

Megan2018 · 05/10/2021 00:24

I’m 43 and not middle aged. If you want to die at 60 though knock yourself out. I come from a family with long lives where 90+ is standard. I fully intend to make it well beyond 90. My grandmother is still having a ball at 95 thanks very much

EmeraldShamrock · 05/10/2021 00:24

Only if you choose to believe it dear.

I'm at least 20 years behind my chronological age.

Kuachui · 05/10/2021 00:24

50 is middle age.

Anything between 40 and 60 I think is okay to call middle age then above 60 I'd say is senior

LegArmpits · 05/10/2021 00:25

Such a knob 🤣

JaneJeffer · 05/10/2021 00:35

LOL

Feilin · 05/10/2021 00:42

50 to 70 thats middle aged. Ofc its more about your state of mind and I know lots of 70+ people and they wouldnt think of themselves as old
