So there were three missed calls on my mobile, and a voicemail.

Picked up the voicemail and much to my surprise was treated to a couple of minutes of some saddo wanking.

Amongst the groaning, he called me by my name and informed me that he's found me on google and that it was 'dead fucking easy' to find me. Said he was hoping I'd return his call. I'm a self employed physio, so someone wanting to find me on google would do so really easily.

He didn't bother withholding his number. Should I report him do you think, or just laugh it off?

You could save his number and see if he has a Whatsapp pic, incase it’s a client you know. Then report!

THEDEACON · 04/10/2021 18:33

Report ASAP

blubberyboo · 04/10/2021 18:34

Misuse of telecommunications. Defo report to police and you could also try ringing back from a withheld number to see if you get a Vodafone/o2 voicemail and report it to whichever provider it is. Problem is it might be a burner phone and he’d know then it was you and that might only encourage him.

It’s freaks like these that turn into Couzens monsters

Member984815 · 04/10/2021 18:39

Yes report , they may be able to trace the number and give him a warning

tillytoodles1 · 04/10/2021 18:41

Not funny but my Husband friend almost got arrested for doing that. He'd sold his car a few days before and it was seen outside the phone box were the call was made. It was easy to find the new owner as it was someone he knew through work.

trixie1970 · 04/10/2021 18:43

I had similar repeated calls when I was about 18 (32 years ago) at home and at work (long before mobile phones). Scared me shitless as was extremely obscene. Reported to the police and they didn't do anything at all. Victim Support contacted me offering counselling.

Barmychick · 04/10/2021 18:46

@blubberyboo So true ! Hadn't realised there was a correlation between offenders like this/"flashers " and escalating sexual violence/murder.At least not to the extent we do now. Sexual offences against girls/women were all too common when I was younger little seems to have changed. PLEASE report !

Coffeemaniac · 04/10/2021 19:02

Please report him. He’s dangerous

Tessabelle74 · 04/10/2021 19:05

Definitely report him. I doubt you're his first victim

QuornSausagesAreTheDevilsPenis · 04/10/2021 19:09

Thank you for reporting. The more stuff like this that gets laughed off the more it will happen, and I don't doubt it will escalate. I'm not meaning directly with you op, don't want to worry you any more than you already are! Just mean that if he gets stopped now after 'just' this (absolutely not minimising or trivialising the vile thing that happened to op btw) then he can't/won't go on to commit this or further crimes again.

minimecantrollerskate · 04/10/2021 19:13

well done for reporting. It might seem like nothing, but if flashers can turn into murderers, then you don't know what he is capable of. It might also stop him doing it to somebody else who might not be able to laugh it off.

Bugbabe1970 · 04/10/2021 19:32

Report it but they won't do anything

Blacksheepcat · 04/10/2021 19:34

Why would you not report it? Please don’t “laugh it off”, it’s not funny. Letting things like this go is why men think they can get away with treating women like this. Think about if this happened to your daughter, how would you feel then? Please report and I’m sorry you had to endure this. X

TRex57128 · 04/10/2021 19:34

@SeasonFinale

Report him. Wayne Couzens indecently exposed himself before moving up to more serious crimes.
Exactly. Report him. Don't play any games like getting people to ring him for puppies, that will just make him change his number. If I were you I would want to know if he tried to contact me again. As you could build a case for harassment. Personally I don't think I'd block him as a self employed person I'd want to know if he was contacting me for an appointment. And as you said, you're glad you don't live alone, but he doesn't know that and that message could be much more distressing for someone else who perhaps has been assaulted and or harrassed before.
FeeLock · 04/10/2021 19:37

Report it - it's an offence. All good wishes. Flowers

Wearethechampionsmyfriend · 04/10/2021 19:39

Call the police, play them the tape, and let the police go round to speak to him, wonder how embarrassed he'd be then. Twat !!

mellowbirdie · 04/10/2021 19:42

That is a very dangerous man.

Aphrodite31 · 04/10/2021 19:43

Omg of course immediately report

mellowbirdie · 04/10/2021 19:49

@Bugbabe1970

Report it but they won't do anything
I think they will
RGinaPhalange · 04/10/2021 20:15

Report it!!!!!

I doubt this is his first time doing this. Also crimes like these quite often escalate to more serious sexual assaults.

Hopefully reporting this creep will get him on some sort of register

Why would you even think not to report this after the publicity around the Sarah Everard murder. We know that offenders start on lower level offenses and this needs reporting before he esculates. What if your child picked up the voicemail or he does this again. This needs reporting...today.
Mollymoostoo · 04/10/2021 20:27

@Bugbabe1970

Report it but they won't do anything
Yes they will. Turn on the news and see what is going on.
Nursejackie1 · 04/10/2021 20:40

Report. Zero tolerance of this shit from now on. Look how conditioned we have become that laughing this off is even an option. And if the police don’t take it seriously make an official complaint.

Quote from the article “We need to let the police know the scale of male violence and entitlement”

“This is a call to arms for women across the UK. We can’t wait for our leaders to resolve an issue we know is endemic in our society”
