To think this guy leaving me money is so strange?

brooksandvicki · 27/09/2021 17:32

Was out last night and met a guy, brought him home and had a one night stand. Had a good night and he left this morning, I then went to work. When I got home I noticed there is a twenty pound note on the side he was 'sleeping'. He obviously does not think I'm a prostitute but why in the hell would he leave that?

AIBU to think this is very very strange?

This would really piss me off…I would hope I’m worth way more than £20 😬.

Yes, he was paying you for the shag.

OuiOuiBonjour · 28/09/2021 10:12

If people can't be arsed to RTFT why can't they at least click on "See All" to see if OP updated?

Spoiler alert: HE DIDN'T THINK SHE WAS A PROSTITUTE, HE LEFT IT THERE ACCIDENTALLY AND ALL IS GOOD BETWEEN THEM.

Cancel the cheque!

KissedintheDark · 28/09/2021 10:30

£20. you say...
Do you know if he likes older ladies, op?
Asking for a friend.

I think think thread is a fantastic example of how angry and bitter some people on this forum are. I particularly enjoyed the poster who called the man a vile piece of shit 😂 it wouldn't have even crossed my mind that the thought it was payment for a service or an insult. I would 100% go home, take my bra off and have a nice take away on it to cure the hang. Enjoy.

LittleGwyneth · 28/09/2021 10:38

You don't have to read the entire thread but come on, have a quick look at the update. As most of us knew from the outset, he's a perfectly normal man who accidentally left £20 behind. OP ended up with some enjoyable sex after a two year drought and £20 on top. A very decent result.

To those asking why anyone would have a one night stand: because sex is fun. Because not everyone wants a relationship. Because if you've got children then often having a ONS for some gratification is far safer and better for your family than moving a step parent in. Some women do genuinely enjoy and go looking for sex. That's not a crime.

LittleGwyneth · 28/09/2021 10:39

@ohthestruggles I've never seen it this bad. It reads like a load of very cruel people trying to make this woman as unhappy and insecure as possible, largely as a punishment for daring to have a one night stand.

Senorasurf · 28/09/2021 10:51

Yay great ending! I love posts like this as it shows how pretentious and prejudice so many people on mumsnet are ha ha.
Love all the posters saying how you are definitely a prostitute… HmmGrin

Glad it turned out to be something so normal.

Agree with this.

People falling over themselves to dismiss any possible innocent explanation and label him a bastard.

I don't know about anyone else but I always empty my pockets before taking off jeans, etc, and I know DH does too.

It would be 100% normal for us to put a £20 note on a bedside table if it was in a pocket and quite easy to not pick it up again, especially when you're in a strange place.

*not saying your home is a strange place, OP Grin

starfishmummy · 28/09/2021 11:09

I'm not too fussed about seeing him again, the sex was amazing and he was a nice guy so I'd be up for meeting for another casual 'hook up'

Maybe friend with benefits potential??

I never knew that men did this now as a code for map if you need it. Thinking about it, I reckon he definitely did it for this reason and when questioned was embarrassed to say so pretended he left it by accident.

Really? I don't think it reads like that at all. I would say (maybe with the exception of 1 poster) no one is judging OP. Just saying that she's had a one night stand with an absolute arsehole who left her twenty quid on her nightstand. Of course he's not going to say by text "oh yeah, that's for the morning after pill, or ha ha that's tipping you like a prostitute for my own sad little kicks" or whatever it was. I can't believe so many people are buying this "accidentally left it there" when OP essentially handed this answer to him on a plate with her "I think you've left £20 at mine, did you want it back" text.

If he emptied the content of his pockets on to the nightstand it would be more than just a £20. So he didn't collect everything else up and not see the £20 there.

It was deliberate. He's an immature twat. Glad OP had a good time and shouldn't give him any more headspace.

FaceForRadio1973 · 28/09/2021 11:22

I genuinely can't believe that despite the updates, people are still giving the man a hard time.

Oh, yes I can, it's Mumsnet, isn't it?

This man stayed the entire night, and gave the OP a genuine phone number.

That's not the normal actions of the type of sh!thead that would treat the OP like a prostitute....

FaceForRadio1973 · 28/09/2021 11:24

Ps. There's usually the GDP of a small country on my bedside table. I will remember to pick it up one day....

Fucked your body, now wants to fuck with your mind.

FFS, stop being so determined to paint this guy as an arsehole.

It's hardly outwith the realms of possibility that someone would have a £20 in their pocket, emptied their pockets as most people do and forgot to pick it up again.

georgarina · 28/09/2021 12:16

Everyone who thought he mistook her for a prostitute...if that were the case she would negotiate time and payment!! And it'd be a lot more than £20!

She wouldn't just hang around all night and not ask for money and think "oh he might leave £20 on the night table in the morning" ...

Blue4YOU · 28/09/2021 12:20

Holy fuck- people saying he was in fact nasty - on what evidence?
If he was the kind of person to leave a veiled insult behind and a genuine number I can’t see how the OP texting him would make him embarrassed 🙄🙄.
Surely he’d block her/not respond/ say “no I was playing with you etc”.
Why on Earth would anyone think he’s “messing with her mind”?
Saying oh sorry I left it there by mistake is hardly the mind games of a master manipulator, is it?
Glad you enjoyed the ride OP and don’t let the negativity on here put you off him/enjoying the accidental £20

He didn't mistake her. At no point did he genuinely think this. He either left it to be a dick or left it as the "Just in case you need the MAP here's my contribution.". Neither of which he would likely own up too, that's why he didn't hand the £20 to OP, just left it there. He managed to pick up everything else, phone, keys, wallet (why wasn't it in there?) and take it with him. But not a single £20 note left in full view on the nightstand.

Everyone can draw their own conclusions. It's no reflection on OP.

grapewine · 28/09/2021 12:48

There are people here determined to think the worst of men, no matter what. It must be exhausting.

TwinsandTrifle · 28/09/2021 12:49

Not men. This specific man.
