He can't breathe.

He was poorly on weds Eve with a temp. I actually posted on here about it. He's not got better. Continuous cough
Did a test on Friday. No result yet. Called 11 because we hasn't eaten for 5 days. Continuous temp for 5 days. He's so poorly. Has no energy to even sit up and watch the telly.

111 asked us to take him to emergency care
Here.nkw waiting to be seen. He can't catch his breath. He's my only child, my PFB. I can't cope. Husband isn't allowed to be with us. I'm all alone.

Just read this thread and your last update gave me a huge sigh of relief!

Sounds like he's on the way back up, that's great news.

FightingtheFoo · 26/09/2021 18:55

I posted this on another thread and I will post it here.

The NHS are fallible. Especially on weekends and bank holidays.

If you have any concerns about your son's condition or medication or anything you need to push and you push and you push and do not feel guilty about it. Do not let them fob you off. Make them test for whatever you suspect might need testing for. Make them bring you a doctor. A senior one if necessary. Do not be meek.

Also write down - heck, even record on an app - everything they're saying, especially medications and doseages. Write down doctors and nurses' names, even if it's awkward to ask because you didn't hear it the first time. It will make them more accountable.

Our family recently experienced an absolute tragedy with a child in the NHS who should still be here today were it not for their ineptitude. The worst part is doctors did not listen to the mother.

I really hope Freddie makes a swift recovery ❤️

SquigglePigs · 26/09/2021 18:57

That's a great update. Glad he's heading in the right direction.

Ireolu · 26/09/2021 18:58

Glad you are getting good care. Kids are very resilient. They generally bounce back really quickly. Wishing him a swift recovery. Well done mum you are doing great Xx.

SageRosemary · 26/09/2021 19:04

(((Hugs for you both))) and prayers for Freddie, glad to read your update and hope he makes a perfect recovery

IncessantNameChanger · 26/09/2021 19:16

Kids seem to deteriorate as quickly as they perk up. I took my pfb to A&E with suspected meningitis three times. He could hardly blink. He was red hot with freezing feet. Laying blinking motionless. Get him to hospital, everyone swoops in on him very concerned and two hours later he was running around.

Same with his brother. Hadnt eaten for five days or pooped. Then he stopped drinking and weeing. Got rushed up to children's ward. They was phoning around the London hospitals looking for a bed to get tubes down him. But there was no beds within 60 miles so the Dr said to get a syringe and force some fluid in. We got 20ml in when he did the works biggest poo and he perked right up after 6 hours in a side triage room!

They really do bounce back very quickly some times which I hope is the same here

softplay999 · 26/09/2021 19:21

Thinking of your dear son tonight. Get well soon Freddie x

Totorosfluffytummy · 26/09/2021 19:23

Munchyseeds · 26/09/2021 19:23

That's fab news... thank goodness for antibiotics
Hope you both manage to get some sleep tonight

Clymene · 26/09/2021 19:23

Glad to hear. Make sure you look after you too

0palescent · 26/09/2021 19:36

Thinking of you, OP. Hope little Freddie's back on form very quickly Flowers

Shellfishblastard · 26/09/2021 19:41

So pleased to read your most recent update and that Freddie is being well looked after Flowers hope he continues to get stronger as the antibiotics kick in

Kayjay2018 · 26/09/2021 19:48

@Humpthree I'm so sorry to read your son is in hospital, glad the medicine is making him perkier already. My DS had pneumonia at 9 months old 17 years ago now, you absolutely must not blame yourself, you have got him to the right place and he is having the right treatment (I beat myself up for ages over not spotting it). He was on oxygen for a few hours then intravenous antibiotics for 24 hours or so before being released home with more drugs. I hope you continue to see your little boy feeling better and get out of hospital as soon as he is well enough. Remember you are a great mum and he is in hospital getting better because you sought help for him.

Hm2020 · 26/09/2021 19:52

Really relieved to see you update op. Flowers

TheVolturi · 26/09/2021 19:54

Crikey, kids, they sure do go up and down fast don't they. I'm sure he will be absolutely fine now that he's on the antibiotics op, so scary for you both.

FabricPigeon · 26/09/2021 19:56

I'm so pleased to hear your little one is on the mend. Threads like this always remind me to give my DD (who's nearly 2) an extra big squeeze.

I hope Freddie continues to improve and you're home in no time.

BetsyJameson · 26/09/2021 19:56

That’s brilliant news, sending you both a big hug, hope he’s better soon xx

user1493494961 · 26/09/2021 19:56

Get well soon, Freddie xx

Sunflowerx · 26/09/2021 19:58

Sending so much love to you and Freddie Thanks pleased to read he's perked up a bit xx

IamJuliaJohnson · 26/09/2021 20:03

I had a child develop sepsis from an untreated tonsillitis. He went from having been not quite himself for several days, to quite poorly, to really dangerously unwell in a matter of hours. The real danger with covid is that we all assume it’s covid and forget that there are still other illnesses around.

Now he’s had the antibiotics (i assume IV) he really will perk up and you’ll probably be home in a day or two.

UndertheCedartree · 26/09/2021 20:07

So happy he is on the mend Flowers

altiara · 26/09/2021 20:08

Pleased that he’s getting the right treatment and perking up.
Hope you’re ok too Flowers

WishMyNameWasWittyNotShitty · 26/09/2021 20:11

So glad he has perked up a bit, it is awful having a LO in hospital.

Please make sure you try and eat/sleep too, when my LO was in he was only young and was having night feeds still, so I had the feeding to do and just as I would close my eyes it was antibiotics/stats time....best advice is try to sleep between the nurses visits.

Also, hope you DH is holding up, must be awful you all being apart x

Meatshake · 26/09/2021 20:11

Just so you know... If he's in one of the bright green and blue cot things they can take 22 stone of weight so when mine was poorly (inpatient for a week) I used to sit in it with her for a snuggly cuddle!

Hope he continues to improve x

Joystir59 · 26/09/2021 20:14

Brilliant news OP. Hope you both get some rest tonight after such a stressful few days
