To not want to eat food delivered to a bin?!

Ordered some cereal bars in bulk that were delivered today by Royal Mail. I was in, but feeding my newborn and didn't make the door. They delivered it - to my brown bin, which is inside a bin store to the front of my house. The last things put in there were manure and very mouldy flowers.

DH thinks there's no problem - they are individually wrapped and then in cardboard box and he has thrown the box. I don't want to eat them or frankly have them in my house, and feel completely bemused at the lack of hygiene standards from Royal Mail. Am I being unreasonable?

@buttercup1001

I just don't see y the OP didn't just throw them out of give them to someone it's obvious she wasn't gonna eat them no matter how fine they are.i thought this thread was a bit OTT.
I am staggered you're continuing to berate a poster who you now know has OCD, when you've already made your point more than once on this thread, considering what you're doing at the moment and the literally life or death situation you're in. And more importantly that you're putting your son in. In the time you're doing that you could be planning your escape or taking on board the suggestions people have shared with you. Instead, you're having a go at another woman feeling vulnerable at the moment. Grow up and focus on safeguarding your child. You won't though.

@Theriband

Have you considered giving yourself a hefty slap round the face?
Was this addressed to the OP who is struggling with MH issues, or the poster in an abusive relationship?
ImprobablePuffin · 22/09/2021 11:31

@BloodyMaryplease

Yes I've previously been diagnosed with OCD, generally under control, mold has always been a trigger.

If you had shared this key piece of information in your original post, people may have been a little more understanding. If it’s starting to impair your ability to get on with your day to day life (e.g. eat the food that you’ve ordered) then it may be worth seeking professional support with it, if you’re not currently receiving any.
All the Best OP.

Yes, a rather key piece of information to omit. However OP has been told on most of her threads that needs to seek medical help for her anxiety around mould, at some point you have to help yourself and stop ignoring it.

Seems to be 2 posts in 1 here?

This has to take the prize for the most unpleasant and insensitive comment of the week!

I've never had a cereal bar. What is the point of them?

VainAbigail · 22/09/2021 13:33

No, there was no plastic, I don't know where people have got that from

Because it would be a reasonable assumption that a box of cereal bars would have each bar individually wrapped for freshness? Rather than opening a box and the rest going stale?

Seriously, that’s the question you ask?
coconutpie · 22/09/2021 13:38

Wow, this thread is awful. Poor OP.

OP, YANBU. I wouldn't be happy with a delivery being made into a bin, that's just gross and unhygienic and I would be making a complaint to the company that you ordered from - they can take it up with Royal Mail and send you out a fresh order.

HeadPain · 22/09/2021 16:16

They shouldn't have put it into the bin. I couldn't eat it. I think I have issues with germs etc. so does my mum, but I don't think it's unreasonable not to want to eat something that's been in a bin with manure etc.

Agreed. Absolutely no surprise she hasn't returned.😕

You eat them. What else do you think you'd do with a food product?
