To not want to eat food delivered to a bin?!

PurpleCurtain · 21/09/2021 17:47

Ordered some cereal bars in bulk that were delivered today by Royal Mail. I was in, but feeding my newborn and didn't make the door. They delivered it - to my brown bin, which is inside a bin store to the front of my house. The last things put in there were manure and very mouldy flowers.

DH thinks there's no problem - they are individually wrapped and then in cardboard box and he has thrown the box. I don't want to eat them or frankly have them in my house, and feel completely bemused at the lack of hygiene standards from Royal Mail. Am I being unreasonable?

OP posts:

It's not that ellenanora7 but surely her OH would of advised her about the cereal bars being ok to eat etc.its not really a problem is it to post on here.i understand people have issues etc but something so minor her OH surely could of advised her that the bars were safe as they were well packaged.

@gofg when on earth will we have no running water or toilets.
In an international pandemic perhaps?

Your absurdist argument does not do you any favours.
The world is not ending and your world ending arguments do not negate OPs very reasonable preferences in a first world country.

How will you cope with eating out of bins, when the little green mars aliens are lasering you with their eyes?

buttercup1001 · 21/09/2021 22:21

Why didn't u take the parcel straight out of the bin when u had seen it said delivered?

QuestionEverythingBaby · 21/09/2021 22:36

If I was living with a man who insisted on taking something out of the bin (and encouraging me to eat it) I would be in a terrible state. I would also plan to LTB. Its one of the worse things someone could do to me.

You would leave your husband because he told you to get a grip something IN A BOX out of the bin, UNWRAP IT and eat it? Okaaaaay Hmm
And it's one of the worse things he could ever do to you? Really? Really?

CorianderAndCream · 21/09/2021 22:43

They're double wrapped... do you think spores will have worked their way into vacuum sealed packs?

CorianderAndCream · 21/09/2021 22:48

Ah no plastic, never seen a bar like that. It still won't have affected them

buttercup1001 · 21/09/2021 22:50

Throw them all in a bowl of hot water sterilise them....Hmm....

user1473878824 · 21/09/2021 22:53

Can everyone just read the whole thread or even the OP’s posts? She’s been diagnosed with OCD and as PPs have said her other posts show she’s clearly not in a good place. Stop piling on.

buttercup1001 · 21/09/2021 22:55

But y post it on here why didn't she just throw them away it's clear she isn't gonna eat them.or just give them to her OH.

Embroidery · 21/09/2021 23:03

@buttercup1001

I think you understand the concept of people struggling with issues at home and posting on MN without then following the advice or opinions given, to be honest.
buttercup1001 · 21/09/2021 23:10

youvegottenminuteslynn yes but look at this to mine I'm not whingin about a sock of cereal bars being left in a Wheely bin .

buttercup1001 · 21/09/2021 23:10

OP's reaction her situation are far less problematic. People in glass houses. Be nice to people who are struggling, it's something you should empathise with right now. People are equally baffled by your situation as you are by OP's. More so in fact. I'll leave it there.
bluebell34567 · 21/09/2021 23:15

@Fabbydabbydoozey

The RM was daft to put them there, but of course you can eat them.
very daft indeed.

The OP has ocd, other people have mentioned her other threads and how anxious she seems. Don’t be a dick.

I can’t believe the cheek of you after the support you’ve been given on here Shock
buttercup1001 · 21/09/2021 23:29

It still doesn't really give a reason to why she had to post that just thrown them away .her OCD yes I get but posting this is silly obviously she isn't gonna eat them.

user1473878824 · 21/09/2021 23:29

@AMALT She clearly does have real problems but taking them out on the OP in such a shitty way is, well, amazingly shitty.

user1473878824 · 21/09/2021 23:29

@buttercup1001 Then ignore the thread.

buttercup1001 · 21/09/2021 23:29

My situation and this post no comparison sorry

user1473878824 · 21/09/2021 23:33

@buttercup1001

My situation and this post no comparison sorry
@buttercup1001 No, there isn’t. So if you have no helpful advice like you have received on all your threads maybe stop giving the OP a battering just because you’re unhappy.
