So little stock on the shelves. Makes the weekly shop a complete nightmare as you just cannot meal plan anymore.

I didn’t vote for this absolute shit storm.

@mustlovegin are you having a laugh? So the NHS really is getting £350m a week funding now?

gibletjane · 19/09/2021 14:58

how could a country do something so stupid when it would clearly lead to a worse quality of life. '

I think the issue for many was that they are relatively insulated from the impacts. The young just have more shit heaped on top of them.

Mancity100 · 19/09/2021 14:58

Yes leave did win twice the torys won a landslide victory the last election

Some people on here are totally vile with the views, your just as bad as racists saying you hate people who voted leave

Mynameismargot · 19/09/2021 14:58

@mustlovegin

Press is full of news of uk food shortages

Which press? The Guardian? Shelves are mostly full where we are. I agree it must be a regional thing

I'm not even in the UK and our press has reported on your food shortages so I would be very surprised if the UK press hasn't.
FourTeaFallOut · 19/09/2021 14:58

www.reuters.com/world/europe/covid-19-crisis-has-lead-food-crisis-says-italys-draghi-2021-07-26/

If you cannot see concerns about food in other eu countries it's because you haven't looked.

vera99 · 19/09/2021 14:59

Not every leaver is racist by a long shot, but every racist is a leaver. Brexit is their ditch which they are quite happy to die in.

whoopsnomore · 19/09/2021 14:59

@tobedtoMNandfart you haven't told us the economic benefits of Brexit yet.

Nancydrawn · 19/09/2021 14:59

Major constitutional questions shouldn't be decided by a simple majority. This isn't a council seat or a by-election. It has to be something people want fully and collectively, because it's going to have an unknown and potentially difficult aftermath and people need to be overwhelmingly for it.

The whole thing is so, so, so dumb.

whatistheworld · 19/09/2021 15:00

@nowahousewife

I don’t despise those that voted for Brexit. We had a referendum and there was a result whether you agree with it or not (I don’t btw). I do despise the politicians who persuaded people to vote for Brexit, I despise those politicians who buggered off leaving this mess (looking at you Cameron and Osborne) but mostly I despise the politicians who could not negotiate a Brexit deal and have left us in this mess; May, Davies, Gove, Johnson at al.
its the ERG in the Tory party that are mostly to blame. We could of had Brexit and stayed in the single market - ensuring frictionless trade. We could of had May's deal. There were possibilities but they wouldn't support them.
mustlovegin · 19/09/2021 15:00

I'm not even in the UK and our press has reported on your food shortages

Why do you feel the need to comment on something you can't see and know nothing about? Do you always believe the press?

Less than 44% of the vote is a landslide?
RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/09/2021 15:01

I'm in the North West and there are many gaps on shelves in the Tesco Extra I shop at. Of course we can live without these things (sparkling water, taramasalata, some breakfast cereal are the items I remember when I shopped this week).
Overheard 2 shop assistants chatting saying they were putting the last of the bread out at c 11am and not sure what they were going to say to customers for the rest of the day.

HighNetGirth · 19/09/2021 15:01

Don't despise voters for it- nothing good will come of that. Despise the brand of politics that unashamedly misrepresented the outcomes and branded any attempt to warn people about negative consequences as "Project Fear".

Oh, plus Tim Wetherspoon the Brexit cheerleader who is now mithering the government about wanting cheap Euro Labour back.

User4378645 · 19/09/2021 15:01

Sparkling water is on Amazon, tonic water probably is as well, just order it from there

LexMitior · 19/09/2021 15:03

The thing that is missed is that Brexit meant the end of just in time supply chains. So this mess, and the increased prices are permanent.

Yes, Brexit voters are stupid. Many of them have a massive faith in government which is undeserved. An old mentality where they want the Government to look after them. Which isn’t happening, and won’t. You’ve got the freedom to get into debt, and freedom to eat whatever is available. If that’s an improvement for people, they’ve got a bad life.

Mamamia7962 · 19/09/2021 15:03

Rollacola - I think we may have to change our eating habits due to climate change.

mustlovegin · 19/09/2021 15:03

Tim Wetherspoon the Brexit cheerleader who is now mithering the government about wanting cheap Euro Labour back

There's many already in the UK who need those jobs

frazzledali · 19/09/2021 15:03

@Ilovegreentomatoes

Oh dear op how will you cope? You sound like a spoilt entitled brat. And the word despise coming from a remainer about randoms they don't even know doesn't surprise me some of the vile abuse they aimed at leave voters were disgusting and proved how discriminatory they were against a group that dared to have a different view point from them.
Boo fucking hoo.

You're all tits for voting for this shitshow. Didn't join in abusive debates pre-vote - or after the result, because it was absolutely toxic (from both sides, don't pretend it wasn't). But internally thought leave voters were very stupid.

Now I am happy to say it out loud because there are still eejits saying things like "oh we're all spoiled anyway" as if it's just about not having enough fizzy water and that there aren't huge issues all around us:

This is so true...whichever way you voted. I hope scotland is taking notes becauae the hate it stirs up is incredible

It’s totally different from racism. Race is something you are born with. Voting Brexit is something you chose. Now you have to accept the consequences- one fo which is that people who could always see it was ridiculous will be angry.
RinkyStinky1 · 19/09/2021 15:04

@Gwenhwyfar

"I think its lorry drivers and covid rather than brexit."

the lorry driver shortage is because of Brexit.

Only in part - as confirmed by the RHA.

LexMitior · 19/09/2021 15:04

But don’t worry, you will be able to have imperial measurements again, even though it’s a sneaky way of increasing prices, assuming the shelves are stocked….

SilverGlitterBaubles · 19/09/2021 15:05

@mustlovegin

Lots of press are reporting this, even the Brexiters champions DM

Amazonmulu · 19/09/2021 15:05

No, not remotely. Yanbu. Makes me 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 on a daily basis.

MiddlesexGirl · 19/09/2021 15:06

I meal plan and have had no difficulty at all. I shop online at one of the big supermarkets and have got used to their being no substitutions at all ... whereas before covid/Brexit there were always at least one or two.
