To ask for name ideas for kitten.

Male kitten arrived yesterday. Not entirely anticipated as he has a disability (congenital absence of left back paw) that meant his planned home fell through.

He is very tiny, shy, loves his food.

We would like a “proper” name. Short.

Seamus, Rory and Wilbur are in contention. We can’t agree.

Ideas very much appreciated.

Honestly my ginger is Sampson after my favourite books as a child - the church mice series by Graham Oakley - it’s the best name!

Tom-Tom, hes adorable.

I have a visiting ginger boy called Simba, he's so gentle and he used to walk round the garden with my elderly cat.

I love this thread. It’s been a huge happiness boost for me. But honestly…there are so many good names on here that it’s harder not easier to decide!😂.

Stewart I love now too.

I cannot begin to tell you how many of the great suggestions here are names of friends and relatives. It’s made me laugh out loud when I read a name and picture my late granddad (Charlie) or my late godfather (Gerald) etc. Sharing the pictures with you of our dear kitten and then reading the suggestions has been such a feel good time. And it’s been nice to have older loved ones brought to mind by some of the old fashioned names mentioned. Thanks all. And I promise to tell you our decision.

That's lovely LadyMacbeth, and I also have a lovely ginger boy called Simba, BellaBasset. He follows me around the garden but is not gentle to other cats or creatures.

I'd also suggest Basil.
