Haven't seen the OP around, thread 1 is about to run out and someone asked for a new thread.

OP posts:

It might be a while before this revolution type thingy happens:
Tories in power at the moment
Sir Ed Davey leader of Lib Dems
Sir Keir Starmer leader of the Labour party and Her Majesty's Opposition

Tellmesomethinggirl · 28/09/2021 12:52

To be fair, Keir Starmer earned his knighthood! He was DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) !

Really? I didn't know that Hmm My point is that he accepted a knighthood ergo he's not against the system.

Oh yes, during this spectacular non-investigation dropped due to "insufficient evidence" when reports of JS behaviour dated back to the 70s.

You're not telling me that the "reviewing lawyer" wouldn't have referred such a high profile case to the head of the service, nor that KS wouldn't have known full well what was going on. I remember my dad not wanting me to watch Jim'll Fix It on tv in the 80s, but he wouldn't tell me why.

Pure establishment cover up, yet he still gets a knighthood at the end of his tenure. Rewarded for not standing up for victims and protecting the abusers, same old story. Or did he achieve something so amazing during his time at the DPP that it cancels out the damage caused by one of the UK's sickest sex offenders?

So it's all an establishment cover up. You'll never get rid of the Royal Family for a long long time at this rate. The country roundly rejected Jeremy Corbyn, the well known republican.

Because you were telling me stuff about Keir Starmer that I've known for years and I'm an avid Wikipedia looker upper. It was a bit patronising but nothing worth worrying about. I like KS and think he should tell the Labour party to stuff themselves. They're behaving like children. The problem I have with him is his confusion about cervixes. There should be no confusion

Candleabra · 28/09/2021 19:57

Halfway through reading the Norman baker book recommended on here. Bloody hell.
I was prepared to be appalled at the private jets, servants plus Prince andrew obviously.

But the money! Siphoned off in every area. No tax. No accountability. No rules. Using or steering government policy to undertake what basically amounts to insider trading. Opting to use public funds when it suits, then declaring themselves private citizen when it doesn't. I feel so angry, it's absolutely outrageous. I've never given much thought to the royal family's wealth. I suppose I just took it for granted that queens were rich. I'm appalled.

Candleabra · 28/09/2021 20:02

I was particularly upset to read about the royal family's dreadful treatment of their staff. All the royals, including the queen. Cutting their wages and Christmas party to make a declaration of savings to the tax paying public.
Particularly the thought of the royal yacht's staff being forced to club together to buy Princess Margaret a wedding present whilst she honeymooned on the Britannia.
A present they could ill afford, and that I would bet good money that Margaret slung into the back of a cupboard without a second thought.
It's just so tawdry. It's made me feel really upset.

.
This ^^

It's having eyes opened really.
Bending the rules
Exerting pressure when necessary
PR on a massive scale
Keeping the public ignorant

I honestly honestly do not know how anyone can say all this is ok. Tell me why?
Stability?
Well... we're in a shitshow at the mo, the RF add to it, not help it. They just highlight awful inequalities

We're fools to accept it

Candleabra · 28/09/2021 21:17

The scales have well and truly fallen from my eyes.
It's definitely not ok.
I feel utterly deceived.

Bloody hell indeed ... now you know why so many of us on here recommend the book

Not just a hatchet job either, but written by someone in a position to know what they're talking about

Roussette · 28/09/2021 22:06

Puzzled
That's exactly it
It's not just an opinion piece, it's factual from someone who knows

I wish more posters on some of these threads would take the time to read it
I learnt a lot

We're in an era where the the political class are in complete chaos. No one cares about the royal family at the moment.
Candleabra · 28/09/2021 22:58

I care.
The money spent on them would be better spent elsewhere.
They have stolen their wealth from the nation. Whether it is money, land, property or assets - they have manipulated the laws of the country to bring about the most advantageous fiscal arrangement anyone could dream of. It is a scandal.

Well said Jeremy Corbyn

What a vile thread it's also the unpleasant minority shouting the loudest
Yikes 😬
Roussette · 29/09/2021 07:20

I care. Everyone should care and calling someone Jeremy Corbyn is really the way to go then isn't it?
I remember you said you didn't care about PA derxa... so it's fine to have someone skulking about within the royal family in palaces who has a hearing due for sex with a trafficked minor and we are paying substantial sums for awful scenario.

I care about more than one thing at once, we all can.

We should we not care? Just carry on with the status quo, if we adopted that view, women would not have the vote.

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 29/09/2021 07:51

The monarchists and fence-sitters who refuse to read Baker's book remind me of betrayed wives in denial about their husbands' 25-year affairs. "But... but.. he still loves me". No, Prince Charles in particular despises you, as he prepares to swindle even more out of you in a couple of years' time.
derxa · 29/09/2021 07:57

I remember you said you didn't care about PA derxa. Did I? No I don't care about him. If he has broken the law then he should face the consequences.

Roussette · 29/09/2021 08:10

I don't care about PA either. However, I do care about what he does and how he's shielded and rewarded for abhorrent behaviour.

DazzleDrops · 29/09/2021 08:18

Never mind all the stuff about PA, Charles allegedly selling access, Queen's exemption from Scotland's Green Energy laws etc, etc. LOOK! Kate has a sparkly dress on! Sad thing is, so many fall for it.

TheKeatingFive · 29/09/2021 08:38

Hmm it is a very sparkly dress. Most glam thing she’s worn, possibly ever.

The tricks do work.

NotJustACigar · 29/09/2021 09:43

Thanks for the recommendation, I will read the book. I've always disliked the Royal Family but felt it was best to tolerate them for the tourist money I thought they brought in. If they don't actually do that then let's get rid!

..
Sorry to chime in without reading all but where has he broken the law? I agree he should face consequences if he has but I'm not aware of any law breaking on his part so far.

It strikes me that some folk want to believe the worst of people. We should stick to concrete facts.
