Fed up a bit with all the stories of shit DPS on MN. So let’s hear about the good ones.

I realized DH was a loving guy when we had been dating a few months and we’re going to the cinema. Before we left the house he asked if I remembered my glasses as otherwise I wouldn’t see the screen properly and would get a sore head.

When pregnant and over emotional I was crying because no clothes fitted or looked nice on me. He just nodded. A while later he came over with his iPad. He had been on ASOS selecting maternity wear in my size and style and just was looking for final approval of the items before ordering

My dp hates coffee. Doesn't like the smell of it and never has and never will drink it.

I have a bialetti moka pot, the kind you fill with fresh coffee and put on the stove to brew and is a bastard to clean. It is almost never empty and I haven't made a pot of coffee for years.

VeryLongBeeeeep · 17/09/2021 13:40

During the height of lockdown when I was going bonkers and totally miserable, he turned our garden into a 'restaurant' and made us pretend that we'd gone out for supper, served the champagne pretending to be a snooty French waiter.

There are lots of lovely things on this thread but I really love this!

blissfulllife · 17/09/2021 13:41

I had nothing when I met my dh. I'd been separated from my ex husband for quite some time but I'd had to flee with just our clothes, lost my job and was on benefits. I didn't want to date him as I felt I had nothing to give. So we were just friends for a long time. In that time he helped me get on my feet, decorated my house, bought my kids beds, laid my carpets and was there for us all. He'd take his warm socks off and put them on my cold feet in winter, took me on a mad road trip to the seaside at 3am one night a few days after my mom died as I couldn't sleep. He was the best friend I ever had. How could I not fall in love with him.

And this man tells ME everyday that I'm the best thing that happened to him. 20 years together now and he still warms my feet, makes sure our family want for nothing and cooks my favourite foods. Makes me laugh and gives me butterflies when I see him pull up in his van.

Gorl · 17/09/2021 13:44

Tells me he loves me every day.

Has never once criticised me or lost his temper in our entire relationship.

Brings me coffee every morning.

Never complains about my annoying habits.

Texts me just to check in when we’re apart.

Does his fair share of housework, parenting and life admin.

Is lovely to my family.

Stands up for me.

He’s the best person I know, and from day one I’ve never had a moment’s cause to doubt his feelings.

DontWiltMySpinachPlease · 17/09/2021 13:47

He sends me memes throughout the day 😃

OhGiveUp · 17/09/2021 13:57

He's never called me a bad name, even in the height of a rare row.
He's never shouted at me.
He's never denied me or the kids anything.
He always worked away in the middle East so he's not been at home very much during our marriage, but he always sends a good morning text each day and sends a letter weekly, which I treasure. They're kept in a metal box and the kids know if the house goes up in flames, the only thing I need rescuing is my box of letters 😂

Youdoyoutoday · 17/09/2021 13:58

Oh and I'm a huge wimp when watching stuff so everything makes me cry, everything! I'm handed a tissue without asking for one and he whispers 'don't worry, I won't tell anyone' as that's our silly little joke thing, I don't want people knowing how weepy and emotional I get at tv programmes 🤦‍♀️

slightlysnippy · 17/09/2021 15:34

These are all lovely, but this Is my favourite also

'During the height of lockdown when I was going bonkers and totally miserable, he turned our garden into a 'restaurant' and made us pretend that we'd gone out for supper, served the champagne pretending to be a snooty French waiter.'

My DH is a brilliant stay at home dad to our two DD's which has allowed me to build my career and not worry about working late or having to travel.

He Cooks every night, does most of the house work, makes me laugh every day, my best friend, love spending time with him and the most amazing 'nurse' when I'm ill.

DarlingFell · 17/09/2021 15:40

Too much to list but I’ll just tell you that my DH makes me feel like the most gorgeous creature that ever walked the earth and treats me accordingly! He is so loving and adoring and I feel extremely lucky. He tells me every day that I’m the most beautiful woman he has ever met. He’s drop dead gorgeous which is an extra bonus Smile

Somethingsnappy · 17/09/2021 15:57

@GoGoPowerScooter

When I woke up with a jump in the middle of the night wondering why my face was a bit moist (bear with me 🤣) - he'd heard a mosquito buzzing around the room, so had daubed me with insect repellent so I wouldn't get bitten in my sleep ♥️
This is fabulous! Really made me laugh...
Wifflywafflywoo · 17/09/2021 15:58

I was having a really really down day in the aftermath of losing our first baby. He tucked me into a blanket on the sofa and reappeared a while later with a chocolate Swiss roll cake he'd baked himself, including hand whipped cream.

We're now going through IVF and I've got very bad OHSS. I can barely move, honestly feel like I'm dying and he's absolutely amazing.

He's just a lovely soul

FatCatThinCat · 17/09/2021 16:01

My DH leaves for work at 5.30 am and everyday before he goes he sets up the coffee machine ready for when I get up.

Cas112 · 17/09/2021 16:13

I love this thread

My partner makes me a coffee and breakfast every weekend before i get out of bed

I love my baths and bath bombs and he buys me a new box of bath bombs every time my last box has ran out.

He always is just so considerate of my needs and is so helpful and thoughtful

I love him so much

CallMeNutribullet · 17/09/2021 16:15

I don't have a DP however when I go into a shop a randomly buy myself a bar of Lindt Mint chocolate.

That's how I know i love me.

crj123 · 17/09/2021 16:23

He bought my favourite brown sauce for me (he loathes brown sauce) just cos he noticed I had run out.

It's the little things!

Mammma91 · 17/09/2021 16:23

Every so often, he says ‘I’m so lucky to have you, so are our DC’s’
Also, every morning despite getting up for work at 5am, he prepares my morning coffee. (Coffee+sugar and ensures kettle is filled).
He is lush. All the little things make me love him more.

Gosh I am hard-faced these days but this is truly beautiful. Wish I had one like that.

He works part time so I can also work part time and we can parent equally. He brings me a cup of tea every morning in bed.

NatWestPigFamily · 17/09/2021 17:27

Just before my dad died of lung cancer and was too weak to shave he gave him a really good shave which made him look like my dad again. He was so gentle when he was doing it and it made my dad really happy.

He drove my mum to chemo and held her hand on the ward when she had to have a nasal gastric tube put in.

He does me hot water bottles every night and will catch spiders for me without complaining even it’s in the middle of the night.

Needingadvice2021 · 17/09/2021 17:36

Last night I had to go to hospital, he came straight in from work at 9pm and went back out with me, didn't even eat anything. I have severe anxiety with hospitals and he insisted on waiting outside in the cold while I was in there until 4am even though he had to go to work today. Went off, really tired but first made me breakfast.

He messages a lot and is really affectionate. Compliments me all the time and does all he can to make me happy with little surprise presents or writing me a song. Sure he leaves wet towels on the floor sometimes and we annoy each other, but he is so warm and caring. He always makes me feel like the most important person in the room.

PissedOffAgain · 17/09/2021 17:37

@CallMeNutribullet
Love this!

Cleebope2 · 17/09/2021 17:46

NatWestPigFamily That has made me almost cry. My DH runs to the shop every time I text him and does everything I ask except put his clothes away or close the drawers. He blamed himself for a blip in our long marrriage when I got involved online with an ex and has never brought it up again.
