To think the royal family are a bloody embarrassment

MariaAngustias · 12/09/2021 09:53

Just that - why are we paying for this bunch when we could be spending the money on essential services? Let the Queen continue then after her just get rid of the whole bloody lot of them. We have and alleged paedo, a whinging multi millionaire in his 30's moaning constantly, an allegedly corrupt heir to the throne meeting dodgy russians for money....... just go, enough. Seriously - this is all Jeremy Kyle for poshos.

So what? You’re not in the running for any of it, regardless of who it goes to.

😂

S’okay, I didn’t think I was.

But it’s back to one rule for them one for everyone else. Or are you going to argue against that too?

Blossomtoes · 17/09/2021 18:34

No, I think it should be the same rule for everyone and nobody’s will should be available to any random sticky beak who decides to have a look.

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 17/09/2021 18:39

@Blossomtoes

How can it not be in the public interest to know which of the royal wasters are getting even more cash and land?

How is it in the public interest to know what cash and land is being shunted from one “royal waster” to another? It’s staying in the family whether it’s exposed to the gaze of the prurient or not. I’m pretty pissed off that my private affairs are accessible to anyone who pokes their nose in after I’m dead.

More Pythonesque "Black Knight" arguments. Soon there won't even be any straws left for you to clutch at.

Do you even understand what "public interest" means?

Whether you're a paid troll or not, deliberate obtuseness will only get you so far; most people are now starting to realise they've been hoodwinked for decades.

The greed, lies and corruption of the RF has been proven by dozens of posters, article by article, link by link, year after year.

TheKeatingFive · 17/09/2021 18:41

Well at least you’re consistent on one thing. 😆

I can’t say I give too much of a shit about Philips will, though doubtless there’s plenty of erm, interesting, bequests in it.

Blossomtoes · 17/09/2021 18:46

Isn’t troll hunting outlawed here @ChurchofLatterDayPaints? Despite being in a hefty majority on this thread, you republicans really don’t take disagreement well, do you?

HarrisonStickle · 17/09/2021 18:50

I agree that our wills shouldn't be in the public domain. However, holding that up as a reason why it's okay that the RF's wills aren't in the public domain whilst pretty much everyone else's are is a pretty slender argument. Likewise that the will itself may not be very interesting.

I might even understand a coda that the will remains private for, say, thirty years after the monarch's death so as not to humiliate her and her children if there's something a bit iffy in it. But ninety years with no guarantee it could then be opened. That's protection on a ridiculous scale.

You don't know if it's staying in the family or not.

You’re right, I don’t. And what’s more, I don’t give a toss because it’s not my business.

Not hunting anyone, I just cannot believe the weak arguments you insist on putting forward are genuine. You provide no evidence. Just opinion. Big difference between "disagreement" and having to read unsubstantiated bollocks.

Serf mentality, most of us have moved on from.
Blossomtoes · 17/09/2021 18:57

And here we go again. More personal attacks. Are any of you capable of a rational discussion or do you just want an echo chamber?

Articles from you and the monarchist robots proving I'm talking crap would be a great start.
Blossomtoes · 17/09/2021 19:02

I don’t need to prove you’re talking crap. I simply disagree with you. Obviously you do want an echo chamber since you think anyone whose opinion differs from yours is a troll or a serf.

HarrisonStickle · 17/09/2021 19:07

@Spiindoctor

I've never seen nor heard about an Irish President in my life. Not that that's a bad thing but I don't think you're comparing like with like.
Michael Higgins, Mary McAleese and Mary Robinson are the present and the previous two presidents.

Mary Robinson was the first President to meet a UK monarch (1993) and The Queen was the first Monarch to visit Ireland (2011) since it seceded from the UK.

Michael Higgins has recently (yesterday) turned down an invitation to a centenary event Northern Ireland because he felt the event had a political titel, and he's been accused of snubbing the Queen as a consequence. Hmm

He's currently in Rome visiting the Pope.

HauteGirlSummer · 17/09/2021 19:07

YANBU. The idea of a monarch itself disgusts me. I can't stand the fact they're supposed to be above the treat of us. Abolish the monarchy

You can't prove I or anyone else on this thread is talking crap because we aren't.

The RF is a car crash, a lie, a bunch of parasitic nobodies wasting your money, you don't want to accept that and refuse to get over it.

You're the one that wants an echo chamber, instead you have nothing to offer except 1950s propaganda.

HarrisonStickle · 17/09/2021 19:11

@Blossomtoes

Aasking if any of us are capable of rational discussion is a personal attack too. Where have I attacked anyone personally? Or not been rational in my discussion, since you're accusing "any of you" of not being able to do that?

And if you didn't mean me, then why talk collectively of "you"?

ponyexpress22 · 17/09/2021 19:11

@Spiindoctor

OMG - Princess Anne has turned up in the area occasionally to visit hospitals, open new units etc etc boring boring boring. How many primary schools, hospitals, boring repetitive stuff do you do out of a sense of duty pony? Pure jealousy of rich folk. I think i'd rather see the really rich folks who can follow their own choice of pasttimes paying a bit more into public coffers. But they're lucky - I'm not bitter and twisted about them.
So having a moral sense of justice is bitter and twisted? Shock
Blossomtoes · 17/09/2021 19:12

I’ve never said you were. Insults are your bag, not mine.

If I wanted an echo chamber, I’d hardly be posting on this thread, now would I? I’m very happy to discuss monarchy and I don’t need to “get over” the fact that I don’t hate it.

HarrisonStickle · 17/09/2021 19:15

@Blossomtoes

You’re right, I don’t. And what’s more, I don’t give a toss because it’s not my business.

I care because it's one rule for the RF and another for the rest of us. As I said, I don't think wills should be public documents, I could even understand a 30 year closure to protect the Queen and her children from anything damaging or humiliating.

But to just not care? It's your opinion of course, but I think it's a dangerous one really because the populace in general not caring leads to a lack of scrutiny and a family that can pretty much do as they like. And I think that's wrong.

TheKeatingFive · 17/09/2021 19:17

you republicans really don’t take disagreement well, do you?

It would really help if you could articulate why you think it’s right that this unremarkable family should be granted more rights than the rest of us, incredible riches from the public purse and both hard and soft power beyond most people’s wildest dreams.

What is it? Divine right to rule? The ‘blood’? I am genuinely interested in your reasons.

It would also help if you don’t disingenuously say ‘oh but they don’t have any power’ despite copious evidence to the contrary.

The arguments you have put forward are, to use mn shorthand, crap: 100 percent opinion-based, unsubstantiated and negated by hard evidence from multiple sources other than me over a period of several days.

That's not an insult, it's a statement of fact.

If you would like to convince everyone that your arguments (NB your arguments, not you yourself) are not crap, you will need to provide hard evidence - not your opinion - to discredit and refute those multiple sources.

It's not possible for you or anyone else to do that, because PA shags trafficked teenagers on taxpayers' money and the queen lets him.

I did in fact answer that question when you first asked it on Sunday. You obviously missed my response so here it is again.

In my case it’s weary reluctance to see a country that’s already on its knees go through all expense and trouble that disentangling all the constitutional ramifications would cause. We haven’t even begun the process caused by Brexit and the last thing we need is another major national upheaval.

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 17/09/2021 19:32

We NEED a massive upheaval. The establishment is rotten to the core, mired in filth and you want to leave a 17th century system in place because you're terrified of change????

ponyexpress22 · 17/09/2021 19:41

Pure jealousy of rich folk

If I was on the same income as Princess Ann I'd open a library, school, hospital or whatever 7 days a week. Why on earth am I jealous. What a bizarre thought.
