To think the royal family are a bloody embarrassment

MariaAngustias · 12/09/2021 09:53

Just that - why are we paying for this bunch when we could be spending the money on essential services? Let the Queen continue then after her just get rid of the whole bloody lot of them. We have and alleged paedo, a whinging multi millionaire in his 30's moaning constantly, an allegedly corrupt heir to the throne meeting dodgy russians for money....... just go, enough. Seriously - this is all Jeremy Kyle for poshos.

@Paquarette

You have already had one nauseating post deleted by MN, this will likely go the same way so I will not quote it.

Suffice to say you need to research how sex trafficking works.

ancientgran · 12/09/2021 17:53

@IcedPurple

*I was replying to a post that included, YADNBU, I can't stand the monarchy and think all their assets Inc money, property, etc, should be surrendered to the state The post didn't say most of the assets or that Buckingham Palace of Windsor Castle should be surrendered, it was that all their assets should be surrendered which I still think is unreasonable.

I realise if we answer the comment that wasn't made then I was wrong.*

Except that the poster you were responding to seemed to be under the incorrect impression that most crown property is privately owned by the Mountbatten-Windsors.

Well correct her then.

The Queens coronavirus broadcast literally made me cry. If she wrote it herself then she's an absolute genius at PR. The tone and everything she said was absolute perfection

ancientgran · 12/09/2021 17:56

@Temphelp

Andrew is an abomination. Utterly disgusting that a sex offender is allowed to roam around disguised as a prince. I don’t know why people don’t see the Queen to be complicit? He is HER son and she is the RULING monarch, does she have no power over him at all? Or doesn’t Andrew have any respect for poor old mum?
We have a concept in the UK of Innocent until proved guilty.
Sagaz · 12/09/2021 17:57

Yeh, but part of that process is co-operating with police/FBI

You can't hide behind ''Innocent til proven guilty!'' if you refuse to engage in the process that could determine your guilt or innocence.

YouMeandtheSpew · 12/09/2021 18:00

In my case it’s weary reluctance to see a country that’s already on its knees go through all expense and trouble that disentangling all the constitutional ramifications would cause. We haven’t even begun the process caused by Brexit and the last thing we need is another major national upheaval.

Just let me die with the monarchy in place - I’m old so the wait probably won’t be long - and republicans can create as much chaos as they like once I’ve gone.

Yes, I’m fed up of them but I relate to this. The chaos, upheaval and expense caused by Brexit is only just getting started, exacerbated badly by the pandemic. I’m not a pro-monarchist really, not any more, but I just don’t think it’s the right time.

PicsInRed · 12/09/2021 18:03

Charles and Andre (amazing 😂) are awful and William's reportedly not much better. George is a small child so, unless we want a regency (Andre? Harry?) it's fair to say that we're out of options, and this is over.

Lord Mountbatten
Jimmy Saville
Andrew
Hmm

They're all so fucking embarrassing and amoral and it's time for them to go. Out! OUT!

She has speechwriters.

Lord Mountbatten

Andrew

I didn't realise that Jimmy Saville was a member of the Royal Family?

queenofarles · 12/09/2021 18:08

ancientgran 😂

I find the Queen fascinating tbh, An image of her as a baby popped up on my Insta suggestions, Probably her first balcony appearance with her parents and grandparents , king George V and George the VI ,
she really is from a bygone era .

PicsInRed · 12/09/2021 18:10

@Jaysmith71

Lord Mountbatten Jimmy Saville Andrew

I didn't realise that Jimmy Saville was a member of the Royal Family?

All but family, he was a great friend of Charles and reportedly Philip too, and had the run of the palace.

Diana didn't like him.

queenofarles · 12/09/2021 18:11

And Mountbatten ?

Evesgarden · 12/09/2021 18:11

@lazylinguist

She has given decades of faultless public service

And yet plenty of countries appear to manage without a monarch. What public service has she done which we couldn't have done without, or which could (and would in other countries) have been carried out by a democratically elected or properly recruited employed functionary?

Well the royal family do just over 3,000 engagements a year ( according to Statista) How are democratically employed functionaries going to do this and actually govern the country?

Do you really think the reception the queen gets when she visits a hospital, school ect that it would be the same if Keir Starmer or Boris was visiting? There would be heckles from the crowd every single time, when the queens visits people line the streets with flags.

When people get invited to her garden party in recognition of the hard work they have achieved - it means something to them. Its not just some bloke or women that's been elected that may be out in a few years.

This is why the US are obsessed with our royal family because they have nothing like it.

PeriWrinkles · 12/09/2021 18:12

@TheKeatingFive

I wonder what justification pro-monarchists apply to support their beliefs? Are they still harbouring the idea that the royals are divinely appointed by God?
I think so. PA probably had an angelic vision telling him that abusing 17yo sex trafficking victims was his divine calling.
PicsInRed · 12/09/2021 18:13

@queenofarles

And Mountbatten ?
You don't have to google too hard on that one.

Bon chance.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/09/2021 18:13

I think Charles was let down by flunkies in the recent conversations

The whipping boy lives, just as he did when Charles crashed an aircraft and Captain Laurie got the blame for allowing him to remain in the left hand seat (as if he could have refused) Hmm

It really is mindblowing when folk ascribe the very few positives to their chosen royal's own actions, but instantly look for someone else to blame when the wheels fall off - almost as if it's unthinkable for the RF to accept any responsibility at all

Wannakisstheteacher · 12/09/2021 18:14

Hate them all. Even Queenie. There is absolute no point in a Royal Family. How about we just all take turns cutting the agricultural show opening ribbons and save ourselves finding the hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of clothes Kate wears each year?

ponyexpress22 · 12/09/2021 18:30

This is why the US are obsessed with our royal family because they have nothing like it.

And nor would they want it. They love to watch the royals as a source of entertainment, baffled and bemused by the oddity of it all. But they'd never want such a symbol of inequality themselves.

Yes people do line the streets to watch the royals, because we've all been conditioned all our lives that that is what we do, and we're taught that they're our betters and compelled to show reverence and adulation.

They really aren't any better or different than any other family. But that's what they don't want us to know. Their power is tricking us into thinking they're superior God given beings.

My posts weren’t nauseating. They referred to legal court statements that showed doubt about claims made by Virginia Guiffre.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 12/09/2021 18:39

Tbf the alternative would be having a twit like Doris as the head of our republic atm and that fills me with dread.

aquashiv · 12/09/2021 18:42

It is nauseating. The biggest benefit scroungers going.
Randy Andy should own up the dirty bastard.

TheKeatingFive · 12/09/2021 18:46

It really wouldn’t.

That’s the laziest argument in the book.

And even if it did happen he could be gotten rid of.

Think how close we came to getting Andrew and not being able to do anything about it.

ponyexpress22 · 12/09/2021 18:54

@Tomorrowillbeachicken

Why does this always get said. Why would we end up with someone like Boris?..... Funny how Ireland never seem to get twits as president.

Well even if they had they can be voted out every four years.

So you'd be happy to have a twit like Charles? ...... who's never had to strive to reach the position, just be the monarchs first born, whoever that may be......and you think that's fair?

Sloth66 · 12/09/2021 18:54

Why do people resort to the tired old argument that the only alternative to this dismal family is an unpopular politician?

Look at Ireland, they’ve had some great presidents. With of course the bonus that they can be voted out, unlike our unelected, unaccountable democratic RF.

Are we expected seriously to respect and look up to these individuals? Cheating Charles, a weak and devious man and his mistress/ wife?

Odious Andrew, who tells us he has nothing to hide,yet who is currently hiding on a 50,000 acre estate to avoid being served with court papers?
What is the point of the RF? They serve their own interests, and they have teams of people working for them to do so.
