AIBU to feed DH the same meal twice?

DH won't eat the same meal twice in one week. I, personally think it's absolutely bonkers, but apparently MIL never did (I must verify this with her!) and he doesn't like it. Fine. I've got used to it. However, usually during the week, I cook for the DC and will e.g. make a double portion of lunch which we eat 2 days later.
This week I made a massive lasagne. Plan: Monday lunch, Wednesday lunch when DH is home office and then we'd finish the rest Thursday lunch. Except DH has now decided he's working from home today (as well as yesterday). I don't have any other food in apart from eggs which he doesn't like. Else I can make an emergency pasta & tomato sauce - which is basically same as the lasagne!
So AIBU to serve him the lasagne? I'd planned to do the weekly shop tomorrow, going today will inconvenience me next week (even though I'm a sahm).

I’m the same I’m afraid! Not that there’s ever much left over with the boys and husband.

Anonymous48 · 10/09/2021 19:45

Often we'll have leftovers from the night before for lunch. I wouldn't want to have the same main meal two days in a row though.

Benjispruce5 · 10/09/2021 19:48

I don’t think I’d want lasagne three times in one week but I’d be happy to make myself something else.

COL1N · 10/09/2021 19:50

You live a very different life to me OP

CherryRipe1 · 10/09/2021 19:53

Good grief! No YANBU. What does he think you are, a ruddy Stepford Wife?!

Wtaf have I tripped and fallen into the 1930s?

Wiredforsound · 10/09/2021 20:11

OP, I once saw a man eating a lasagne sandwich. This could be your solution.

Day 1: Lasagne
Day 2: Marinara sandwich (includes pasta sheets)
Day 3: Enchiladas (put it in a wrap and bake with cheese and chilli flakes)
Day 4: Italian Shepherds pie (lasagne with mash and parmesan on top and baked)
Day 5: Tuscan biryani - lasagne chopped up with curry powder and rice.

Show him where the cooker is & let him get on with it!

GoingOutOutNEVER · 10/09/2021 20:13

Cool the dinners and leave it up to him, if he doesn’t eat it tough, more for you

Tallisimo · 10/09/2021 20:14

He’s a grown man, why are you waiting on him hand and foot? He can make his own lunch!

Yummymummy2020 · 10/09/2021 20:17

I think he needs to take over the cooking for a week and wait on you hand and foot as you appear to of done for him 😂

Angrywife · 10/09/2021 20:23

Just asked my husband his thoughts on this.
His reply "no one should ever be ungrateful or complain when someone has made them food, you could give me beans on toast 7 nights a week and I would always be thankful"

😍 does he have a brother..
JustSayingItHowItIs · 10/09/2021 20:43

Agree with others and not sure why you're Confused at people telling him to get his own lunch if you're both at home. You're his wife not his maid.

SunnyMustard · 10/09/2021 20:47

Aside from the obvious ungratefulness (which everyone has aptly commented on) there IS an easy compromise that may bring marital bliss. You are batch cooking and freezing anyways so next time, why don't you just make your big batch, freeze and serve over two weeks.

Even better ... don't label your meal boxes ... that way he can "go fish" in the fridge and he won't know what he's eating until it hits his plate. C'est une surprise!

JonSnowIsALoser · 10/09/2021 20:48

Am I reading about your husband or about your toddler?

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 10/09/2021 20:51

"DH won't eat the same meal twice in one week"

DH can make his own fucking meals then!

Sorted.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 10/09/2021 20:52

Why do women put up with this crap?

Vinomummyinlockdown · 10/09/2021 20:56

FFS

JonSnowIsALoser · 10/09/2021 20:58

I'd serve him the same meal twice, and if he complained I'd garnish the second serving with a massive dose of laxative.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 10/09/2021 21:02

I once made my ex spaghetti bolognese with cat food mixed in with the mince. He ate it all up, and I didn't tell him for a year. Maybe your dh wouldn't mind that a couple of times a week?

JMR185 · 10/09/2021 21:17

I don't like meals repeated so sympathise with the husband. Seems to be an unwarranted amount of anger against him for a fairly innocuous preference.
