If you're 38+years does your body hurt when you get out of bed?

My pelvis hurts when I get out of bed or drive for a long time.
There's various reasons for this, and thought it was just me.

However, it turns out DH hurts in the morning. And my friend came round yesterday and he hurts in the morning.

So is this an age thing?!

None of us are overweight although I'm borderline. My friend and I are definitely unfit. DH is really fit but in his 50's.

YANBU - I'm 38+ and things hurt
YABU - what are you on about? Nothing is supposed to hurt!

Lots of my joints hurt. I'm 48y.
However, I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis at about 37/8y and it comes with the diagnosis, despite the medication.

*Would just add.

What's your posture like?

Bad posture can cause all sorts of aches and pains. That could very well be why you ache after a long car journey, if you're sitting badly.

HippeePrincess · 30/08/2021 10:15

I’ve ached since my late twenties, I’m mid thirties now. It’s not just when I get out of bed though it’s all off the time.

Clearlyunhinged · 30/08/2021 10:20

It must vary hugely depending on so many different factors. I'm mid 50's and don't ache really but I'm slim and pretty fit. My face on the other hand.....too much wind and sun for 50 years has definitely taken its toll!

Tana433 · 30/08/2021 10:20

49 here and my hips and lower back ache first thing in the morning until i 'get going'. However if i have a day out involving lots of walking, the day after, i am good for nothing and can hardly move. Sadly it is only going to get worse as i hit the big 50 next week!

Etinox · 30/08/2021 10:22

52 and definitely stiff in the morning if I’ve slept through.

WhaleyAwesome · 30/08/2021 10:24

I went to the GP with some pain issues last year (before lockdown i think).

I am old. I am not yet 38.

She laughed and asked how I didn't know this.

Pointed out it was because I wasn't as old as her and I clearly had missed the memo.

She laughed more and then called me a cheeky wee git. Or similar.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 30/08/2021 10:24

I'm 52, overweight and unfit. I don't get any pains in my pelvis, hips or legs when in bed ....

Aprilx · 30/08/2021 10:25

I am 51 now. I started to notice that my joints would be a bit stiff in the morning when I was early 40s. I wouldn’t say it was pain, but it would take about five minutes before they would loosen up and I felt normal.

Helenahandkart · 30/08/2021 10:32

I started getting pain in my pelvis at around the same age as you. Thought it was the start of arthritis. Turns out out I have mild hip dysplasia (present since birth). Might be worth looking into. Losing weight helps with pressure on the joints, if that’s relevant to you.

GintyMcGinty · 30/08/2021 10:33

I'm 47 and don't have morning aches.

bambooelectrictoothbrushhead · 30/08/2021 10:34

I did until I took HRT

purplecorkheart · 30/08/2021 10:36

I notice my ankles are stiff in the morning and it takes me a few minutes walking to loosen up.

Wimpeyspread · 30/08/2021 10:38

One does, but I’m 66

2et2font5 · 30/08/2021 10:42

No, I don't get this and I'm older than you. You should get it checked out, I don't think that it's normal at all, doctors may very well be able to do something for you. Or perhaps it will get better with your new bed.

TheRealMrsMorningstar · 30/08/2021 10:43

Yes. I'm over weight and do no exercise so I suspect that would have an impact on how rough I feel when move from bed, getting out of car etc.

For a month I was doing regular stretching with my 6 year old (she has started gymnastics and stretches most days) and what a difference I felt. No aches or stiffness - I stopped and I'm back to stiffness and aches 🤦🏼‍♀️

Bellagonna · 30/08/2021 10:46

I ache a lot in the morning but I do have spinal problems from birth, I vo sleep with a huge 2 year old who kicks me in the head all night and I also carry him a lot so jut my hip out walking around all day.

RubyFowler · 30/08/2021 10:47

I am 40 and was starting to feel old before my time. Yoga has been the answer for me. Honestly its transformed me.
Just following Yoga with Adrienne on you tube. Not cost me a penny.

PearlyRising · 30/08/2021 10:48

i'm 51 and nothing hurts for no reason, yet!
Don't just accept it. You're too young to just accept pain for no obvious reason.

Shamsa03 · 30/08/2021 10:48

Yes. It's colder today and my knees are killing.
Picking up my shopping and my back went.
I'm early 40s.

happinessischocolate · 30/08/2021 10:57

Same, I'm 53 and whilst my lower back can sometimes feel a bit stiff in the morning when I'm putting my pants and socks on I don't have any pain.
Gufo · 30/08/2021 10:59

It did until I started yoga.

Almostwelsh · 30/08/2021 11:00

I’m 50. Nothing hurts unless I’ve done an amount of exercise that isn’t usual for me and even then it’s just a bit of stiffness that wears off in about 24 hours

Mercurial123 · 30/08/2021 11:02

I just turned 50. I have no issues (yet). Though I've been practicing yoga for the last 8 years which helps.

Nosuchthingas · 30/08/2021 11:04

I'm 27 and I do.

I also click and crunch every time I get down on the floor with the kids.

I feel like I'm falling apart already.

4 kids, SPD with three of them, a bodged epidural among other things and I feel 60+
