And it's not after a relative, she just likes it. Is this it for us over 40s? Are there going to be loads of little Lynns and Sharons running round soon?

What other names are we about to see!?

‘I’ve met a baby Mabel this week Grin

sheiselectric · 29/08/2021 12:58

@Laska2Meryls

I also went to school with an Elspeth and a Veronica , but I cant see those coming back..
I have taught two children called Veronica in the last few years.

I work in a school that is about 50% Eastern European and many of the names in this thread are common at our school especially Laura, David and Martin (although pronounced Marchin)

Dogdaysarenotover · 29/08/2021 13:00

I’m 43 and the majority of people in my year were called Claire

rubydoobydoo · 29/08/2021 13:00

Darren, Jason and Gary for boys

Debbie, Donna, Lisa and Samantha for girls!

Everyone was Sarah, Claire or Helen with Louise, Jane or Marie as their middle name when I was at school (including me!)

Caspianberg · 29/08/2021 13:01

I know a 5 year old Brian. Has a toddler sister called Bridget.

rubydoobydoo · 29/08/2021 13:01

Or Kelly and Neil!

@x2boys

Some names should never make a comeback imo, imagine giving birth to a beautiful baby boy and lovingly calling them Derek.
Derek is on Dd's list! Apparently there's a Derek in Teenwolf (recent series not the old film) and he's lovely, as alpha werewolf types go.
douliket · 29/08/2021 13:06

My friend has a little baby Pamela and it is just the most adorable name on her,it suits her so well.
Another fiend of mine has an Alfie
And I could think of a cuter Alfie
And my cousin has Philip and Peter(can't say I'm fond of either of these)

I like Stella
Maria
Jennifer
Natalie

DoTheNextRightThing · 29/08/2021 13:06

I'm 25 and everyone I know is called Amy, Rebecca or Laura 😂 I didn’t realise those names had gone anywhere.

It fascinates me how names go in cycles. I wonder what name will have a resurgence next?

Dogoodfeelgood · 29/08/2021 13:07

I want Cecilia to come back

User8765461 · 29/08/2021 13:07

YANBU OP, I would not have found Joanna surprising (especially given that Anna is v popular RN) but Joanne does seem dated to my ear.

Yesitsbess · 29/08/2021 13:07

I always wanted to name one of the children 'Ernest'. I didn't but I will still name something Ernest before I die.

There are also some names that I just can't imagine being said to a new baby. Like Roger. All Rogers should just materialise in their mid-40s with a brown beard.

Plumtree391 · 29/08/2021 13:10

Lisa

DPotter · 29/08/2021 13:10

I'm a late 80s baby I wonder when Rebecca, Amy and Laura will be making comebacks

There were 4 Rebecca's in DD's secondary year and she's early 20s, so I reckon the comeback has been and gone !

Mary46 · 29/08/2021 13:12

Joanne is lovely. I have an Emily. Good few Ava and Megan both popular around her age group.

newnortherner111 · 29/08/2021 13:14

I cannot see Beverley or Barbara making a comeback, Mark seems to have had his day as it were too.

Names I can't imagine calling a boy now but probably will resurface

Nigel, Bryan, Trevor, Leonard, Cecil, Kenneth, Derek

Girls, Heather, Sharon, Susan, Margaret, Claire, Wilma, Rhonda.

ivykaty44 · 29/08/2021 13:18

All Rogers should just materialise in their mid-40s with a brown beard

we used to know a Roger like that, he never changed

Flowerlane · 29/08/2021 13:19

@Dogoodfeelgood

I want Cecilia to come back
I know 3 Cecilias!!! 2 are called Cece for short. All under 6 years old. Definitely coming back in!
PuppyMonkey · 29/08/2021 13:21

My 14 year old DD currently goes to school with a Richard and a Hazel.

I'm not quite sure about Joanne but I love, love, love Joan.

How about Barry for a proper 'out there' choice? Grin

PollyValent · 29/08/2021 13:23

I love Joan and Jean.

Edinvillian · 29/08/2021 13:23

@Cabbagewhites

Catherine and Elizabeth (as first names, not second names)
That's both of my granny's names and one is my middle name.
Blossomtoes · 29/08/2021 13:24

@PasstheBucket89

oh dear, I'm a late 80s baby I wonder when Rebecca, Amy and Laura will be making comebacks x
Did they ever go away? There are some very young ones round here.
