And it's not after a relative, she just likes it. Is this it for us over 40s? Are there going to be loads of little Lynns and Sharons running round soon?

What other names are we about to see!?

@x2boys

Im a seventies baby Girls were all, Sarah, Clare, Rachel, Rebecca, Catherine (and the various other spellings), Lisa, Michelle, Donna, Jane, Joanne Boys, were, David, Paul, Steven/Stephen, Mark, Andrew, Michael, Lee, Jason Gary.
Yes this! Also Julie, Nicola, Andrea, Karen, Ian, Neil (three/four of each in my secondary school year).

I love the name Joanne. Gorgeous. Great choice.

I also like Maxine. There was only one in my school year so never hugely popular, but it is quite dated now.

BlossomOnTrees · 29/08/2021 13:24

Still know a lot of the names-
Amy
Rachel
Rebecca
All under the age of 20.

ElinoristhenewEnid · 29/08/2021 13:25

Where are Doris and Gladys?

Also Angela and Julie?

NeonJellyBaby · 29/08/2021 13:27

I’m an 80’s baby and there seemed to be loads of girls called Claire, Laura, Gemma, Emma, Sarah, Katie, Amy and Rachel.

Ifyouarehappyandyouknowit21 · 29/08/2021 13:27

I very rarely meet anyone with the same name as myself. I also have never heard a child being called my name. I think its a beautiful name as well.

TheFairPrincess · 29/08/2021 13:28

This thread is making me weirdly nostalgic.

I'm a 90's baby and am wondering when I'll be hearing the Shannon's and Lauren's again Halo

ancientgran · 29/08/2021 13:29

@Cabbagewhites

Catherine and Elizabeth (as first names, not second names)
After our future Queen?
Ifyouarehappyandyouknowit21 · 29/08/2021 13:29

What about Samantha?
It was popular back in the day.

I have three friends with that name in my contacts. Haven't heard a child being called Samantha in the last decade

BatshitCrazyWoman · 29/08/2021 13:30

@bubblebath62636

I'm a Joanne (early 30s), glad to see it making a comeback 😂
I'm a Joanne, I'm 57. My friend has a 30 year old DD called Joanne, and another friend has a 25 year old Joanne. I think it's probably quite a timeless name.
BlossomOnTrees · 29/08/2021 13:30

Also met babies/young kids with the name
Hazel
Eric
Mabel
Olive

reesewithoutaspoon · 29/08/2021 13:30

70's school days
All the boys were Gary Mark, David, Graham, Steven, John, Anthony, Paul, Peter, Neil and Matthew.
Girls were:
Sharon, Susan, Tracey, Donna, Joanne, Jacqueline, Mandy, Louise, Clare Christine, Caroline ,Julie, Karen, Wendy, Penny and a few Victoria's

ChrissyHynde · 29/08/2021 13:30

Any Paula's out there? The youngest I know is about 53, it's be nice to know there are some younger ones!

pleaseletthecatout · 29/08/2021 13:32

I always used to get bullied by Sharons and Jackies.

Nicola, Dawn and Gary were popular names when I was younger.

PegasusReturns · 29/08/2021 13:33

I’m a 70s baby. When I was pregnant in 2002 my mother visibly recoiled at the idea that I might call a child Jack.

I don’t like the name Joanne at all. It just doesn’t sound nice to me regardless of fashion.

LucilleBluth · 29/08/2021 13:38

Some names sound classic…Amy, Emma, Sarah and some just don’t…Sharon, Tracey, Brenda et al.

It may be the origins?

MynahBird · 29/08/2021 13:39

A school mum friend just had a baby Suzanne.

Itsnotalwaysasyouthink · 29/08/2021 13:39

There were three Paula’s, three Victoria’s and two Debbies in my class
I’m a late 60s baby

HoldingTheDoor · 29/08/2021 13:41

Any Paula's out there? The youngest I know is about 53, it's be nice to know there are some younger ones!

I know one who is in her early 20s.

CounsellorTroi · 29/08/2021 13:44

I’m a 60s baby. Knew loads of Janes, Sallys, Dianes, Helens, Karens, Christines.

pleasekeeptotheright · 29/08/2021 13:45

"Helen, Jane, Simon and Mark

Very outing but both my parents names, 1 sibling and 1 cousin!"

😂 hardly outing at all. That's the whole point. Extremely common names

DiddyDiddums · 29/08/2021 13:46

Quick name change for this as it’s so outing! My daughters are Erica and Anna and I love their names. I didn’t realise they were old fashioned, I thought they were timeless.

janj2301 · 29/08/2021 13:46

I think I'm safe with Janet, had SEVEN in my year at school, not met any that weren't born in the early 50s (I will be corrected here though!!)

HappySonHappyMum · 29/08/2021 13:47

I met a Claire who was about 3 years old a couple of years ago - the first time I'd ever met a Claire that wasn't born in the 1970s! I wonder if my name will ever be popular again?!

TatianaBis · 29/08/2021 13:48

70s baby. Lots of Sophie, Emma, Sarah, Kate/ie, Emily, Vicky, Becky. Didn’t know any Joannes, but I knew 4 Joannas.

IVflytrap · 29/08/2021 13:50

I was a late 80s baby, so contemporary names were Gemma, Louise, Sarah, Lauren, Kayleigh, Jade, Jessica, Emma, Stacey and Claire.
Boys were Adam, Daniel, Nathan, Chris, Michael, Aaron, Gavin, James.

Out of that lot, Louise, Sarah and Jessica seem like they should make a comeback. To a certain extent, Adam, Daniel, Chris and James never left.
