DH ‘I’m not coming home.’

DH is out tonight. Someone at work is celebrating their 40th birthday.
They went to a golf club this afternoon and had lunch and drinks after. They’ve now gone into London. DH has just messaged me this:
‘Don’t wait up for me. I’m not coming home.’
I asked why.
His reply ‘crashing at work mates flat because it’s closer’ (he then said where it was. It’s 3 stops on the train before our stop. Hmm
AIBU to be annoyed at this??

No trains running, or they're not able to board one, so they're going to all get a room or rooms in a budget hotel chain. Possibly?

I would question if he has drank over the recommended drink unit allowance, if he has LTB.

I really really hope not. We’ve just spent almost £400 on school uniform for DD’s new senior school… if he then blows a stupid amount of money on a hotel room, I will definitely not be reasonable. Hmm

Rick now allow in here no trains allow so we going try a place night love you I do.

"Right now we're not allowed in here; that is, we're not allowed on any trains, or the trains are not running; in any event we're all a bit confused. Therefore, we are going to try to stay at an alternate place rather than getting to my friend's house. Good night to you too. I do love you even though English and texting are a bit of a struggle right now."

I'd be suspicious, and would (justifiably) surreptitiously be checking his card, his phone and his email.

Heh. You probably live along my train line, OP. The trains are absolutely fucked today. My friend left here for London at 7:30pm and what normally would take 50 minutes took two hours. And two out of three trains were cancelled.

I wouldn’t be too chuffed but on the plus side id be willing to bet lunch tomorrow is off. Unless he’s superhuman 😄 hope you have a nice sleep in a bed all to yourself!
