Emergency spiritual help needed!

We are moving house. This house has a 'presence'. It is not a happy presence. And we would rather not move house with it!

Have already had a priest round to bless the house which helped.

But it's still not gone. The presence not the priest. He went after a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Removal men commented they could 'feel' the presence too.

So. Any ideas?

Any leaving the house ceremony type thing from another culture we could borrow?

We are white British Christian background. So open to any ideas! Thanks

@Briset

oh there seriously are lists of top scientists? I am a little disappointed in the world of science if they are on board with that. It's a bit Sunday Times Rich List or top 10 Bob Dylan tracks isn't it?
Sorry @Briset I was joking about the New Scientist stuff! I thought the world series comment would give it away! Blush

My own spiritual practice draws from ancient magic and 21st century commence, meaning I can recite an incantation remotely through Mumsnet and it will automatically with any demon or sprite resident in your house.

Abracadabra!

Begone, foul spirit!

And it is gone.

That will be £300, please.

MasterBeth · 24/08/2021 14:54

Ecommerce, not “commence”.

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 24/08/2021 14:55

@bathsh3ba

If you are Christian then instructing the spirit to leave in the name of Jesus ought to work. If it is more powerful than that, you need to get the priest back and it may need a team of people.
What if the ghost doesn't believe in God?
DespairingHomeowner · 24/08/2021 14:56

OP - sorry to hear about the presence. If it is associated with the house, and not your family, it should stay in the house

Now, although I am aware of other religions' rituals, I believe you should work within your own religion. I would suggest you pray for the presence (for it to be at peace), and ask a priest to bless your old house

Also bless your new home (by a priest/yourselves with holy water) when you move

Good luck with the move OP

The vegan options are to scare the presence, surely, not to make it happy.

But if not real honey, will it work at all?
I'd get a beehive in the house. No harm to bees and real honey just in case.

applesandoranges221 · 24/08/2021 14:57

@Toddlerteaplease You learn something every day!

Peanutsandchilli · 24/08/2021 14:58

@Bananarama101

If you PayPal me £500 and your address I'll do a remote socially-distanced cleansing ceremony for you
😂😂😂

I'd suggest a good psychologist to deal with the anxiety.

Sorry, by priest, do you mean Anglican? Because they just sort of generically bless the place. It’s the Roman Catholics you want. I’m not RC, and in general I don’t “believe” in these types of things, but they have VERY official training in exorcisms, and I think @Toddlerteaplease is correct re: specialist per diocese. The Catholic church’s chief exorcist also did a single interview I either watched or read and he was such a kindly seeming and unassuming elderly man, but he was very matter-of-fact that he had dealt with some shite.

Treezan82 · 24/08/2021 15:00

Oh no I think OP might have been eaten by the ghost - we should have helped harder.

BittaOrange · 24/08/2021 15:00

@ClaudiaWankleman

There is no presence. It's an echoey, empty space with creaks in the floor, movements in the pipes and cold draughts that you aren't yet used to. You'll get used to it and will think yourself a bit silly in a couple of weeks' time.
Read the post properly Hmm
oakleaffy · 24/08/2021 15:00

Maybe ask the Presence to “Move to the Light”
Eddie Burkes was an amazing Spiritualist with an RAF background I think.

He said many spirits were stuck, and needed help moving onto where they found Peace.
Good luck.

LoislovesStewie · 24/08/2021 15:01

Bit unkind to call it a foul spirit; maybe ask nicely? You catch more flies with (real) honey than vinegar.

Maybe presences are becoming priest/blessing/prayer resistant through over-use, kinda like antibiotic-resistant bacteria?

TirisfalPumpkin · 24/08/2021 15:02

In all the ghost lore I know, 'presences' stay put, they haunt the place that was important to them in life. They don't follow you around, unless you have something on your conscience. Unless you buried someone under the patio and are now fleeing the scene, you're probably fine.

I'm not very woo but I do the Marie Kondo ritual of thanking things that have served me before letting them go. Maybe thanking the house for sheltering you, keeping you warm and all the happy moments you had there will release the eerie feeling and let you move in happiness.

(this thread is so going to end up in a local newspaper tomorrow)

muffindays · 24/08/2021 15:03

You need the book "Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui" by Karen Kingston, explains all about dark energy and how to get rid of it! Space clearing technique. Can't recommend enough!

FlorrieLindley · 24/08/2021 15:03

RightYesButNo is correct - you want the heavy duty mob - the Roman Catholics! This sounds way beyond your average Anglican vicar's remit.

LoislovesStewie · 24/08/2021 15:03

I think you will find that Anglican priests do carry out exorcisms, it's a last resort after a blessing doesn't work and only if they are sure that there are no psychiatric issues in the person/family who think there is a presence.
Toddlerteaplease · 24/08/2021 15:03

@RightYesButNo yes. I was very surprised at who ours is was he seems a little frail old man. But he was chosen because of his holiness. And I completely see why.

@CovidPassQuestion with marin- aaaaarghh- ra sauce? And I scream for afters...

JinglingHellsBells · 24/08/2021 15:04

There are no such things as ghosts, unless you happen to believe in them.

1forAll74 · 24/08/2021 15:06

Don''t have any issues with my old house here, although it's a 160 years old Victorian cottage. I have one main bedroom, and a large attic room, which could be used for a bedroom if it was done up. I live alone, I don't feel any presence in this house at all, but sometimes wonder what it was like, and who has lived here over the years, as at one time all the years ago, I believe a family of eight lived here in the olden days, which would have been very overcrowded with adults and children and maybe dogs and cats etc..

A few people must have died in my one main bedroom, and who knows what went on here. But I don;t dwell on these things.

But I had a neighbour, who has now moved, she said she was a pagan witch,, and lived in a similar little place two door up from me. She was always telling me that her little house had a ghost, and was always sprinkling things around her housel to get rid of the presence, she had semi circles of salt outside her back door, to ward off evil, and some kind of large buddha statue, with candles around it in her little shed.

She once asked me if I would like her to come into my place, to maybe detect something or other, but not my scene really.

I had a black cat when I mover here 16 years ago, and he went missing for two days, which was unusual. MY friend came round, and said she had had a vision, and that she could see in her mind, that my cat was a half mile away, sitting up against the village church wall, directly under the church bell tower. She offered to go and find him, but he wasn't there at all, he came home later, and had been in another direction, going to someones house a few times

She was always taken up with this kind of thing, but I don't understand all this stuff, so never did question her about her witchcraft stuff. But I did buy her a box of salt once, in case she ran out of salt, but she said it was the wrong salt !!
