Things you’ve bought that have essentially changed your life for the better.

For me, it’s a swim dress. Basically a swimming costume with a little skirt that just covers the bikini line. Flattering, hides my stomach and most importantly it doesn’t matter if my bikini line is needing a little attention. It has completely taken the stress out of taking the kids swimming and now we go all the time Smile

Other game changers for me include the perfect prep (🥰), L’Oréal eight-second wonder water, and Pinch of Nom.

Another vote for Lumea, it really has changed my life
Robbie the robovac
Rubber jar grippers for opening bottles and jars (osteoarthritis in my hands make this really difficult without them)
Double spinning the washing - comes out much drier, so I can dry it on an airer without making the house damp
The plastic boxes with handles for kitchen cupboards - it makes it so much easier to get things in and out, and somehow magically seems to result in being able to fit more stuff in each cupboard

Hellmann's vegan mayo

If you don't eat eggs, you will understand how amazing this is!

@Mayhemmumma

Ooohhh I love this thread!

Add a beach chair to the list! We live on a pebbly beach that I hate sitting on, but kids love it. I have my handy little chair in the car for beach, park trips etc and it's wonderful.

Can you send a link? Thanks!

@Cynderella

I don't buy grated cheese, but I do grate more than I need in the food processor when I'm making something that needs more than a handful. Excess is in a glass lidded dish. Not sure how long it keeps for, but 1) it's always nice to see it waiting 2) it doesn't wait long because we use it up much faster.
I just pop it in the freezer and grab a handful as needed . It defrosts instantly if added to hot food or very quickly on cold.
BippityBoppity87 · 04/09/2021 16:04

Guys, I've bought a Eufy. Will hopefully arrive to tomorrow. Is it wrong I'm quite excited about it Grin I have high hopes!

doglikescheeseontoast · 04/09/2021 16:13

A decent wetsuit. I swim in the river - yesterday I was very cold very quickly and needed a 30 minute bath to thaw out. Today the weather was colder than yesterday, but I wore a very good wetsuit and felt little worse than a bit chilly.

It has changed my mind about whether I might be able to keep swimming through the winter, and that in itself has helped my mental health.

😱
Fucking hell that picture should Come with a warning
PaddingtonStareBare · 04/09/2021 21:46

Oh my god, I should have bought a Eufy earlier.
After the initial 'Fucking how much for another vaccum?!' from the husband.
Totally brilliant, he arrived this morning, I had a bit of an issue setting him up to the WiFi but I got it in the end.
I've set him off to do various cleans today and we won't discuss the amount of dust and doghair he has collected. 🤮
Get one!!

CoRhona · 04/09/2021 23:01

@PaddingtonStareBare we felt like that!! I thought next door's cat had come in earlier but DH had set Eufy off on another clean Grin

@Treesandsheepeverywhere

Also, those with electric bikes, any links please? Got my Pashley stolen but one thing I don't miss is the weight of it. Thanks.
My juicy bike is one of my most treasured possessions.
Farfalle88 · 05/09/2021 08:59

Those with Eufys, do you not find having to move everything off the floor, unplug all cables and wires, remove rugs etc is just not worth the hassle?

crispsahoy · 05/09/2021 09:09

Ninja foodi 7in1 changed my life, rarely use my oven now, do still use the hob sometimes so have just invested in Ninja pans too.

Shark vacuum

A cheap cordless vacuum for upstairs where there's less traffic. Much easier

Cynderella · 05/09/2021 09:23

You don't have to remove rugs unless they're very light. That said, our old one had a short fringe that was troublesome. It needed replacing, and I wouldn't have chosen a fringed one anyway.

Cables have been an issue, and we do have to tuck a couple behind something, but to start with, every time Eufy got caught, we remedied it by making the gap wider, tacking up a cable of whatever. Now, she can do the whole of downstairs without getting stuck.

So far Eufy hasn't got stuck, but it did send me an alert saying 'Stuck' but that was DD picking him up and having a look at him when paused 🙄. We recently got a puppy so the downstairs is relatively dog proofed anyway so cables and easy chew items have been out of the way for months, along with slippers or shoes not being put in the hall shoe cabinet as I got fed up reminding them and let the dog get it. But aside from the above it makes us just tidy the floor anyway of random dog toys and DD's toys before we go to bed anyway and this morning I checked on Eufy as I had set him to start work at 7am, turned the pet camera on (dog is crated overnight in the dining room) and I could see him beetling about doing his job. 😁
Treesandsheepeverywhere · 05/09/2021 10:31

Thank you @ Naaaaah.
Got my Studio swim dress and it's perfect. Just about covers the bum but not frumpy. Swim shoes from amazon look great but will test out in a week's time. Happy with cellotape dispenser. Food bags here too and look good, time will tell. @Coldhandscoldheart, no words!!! How do you even begin to clean that.

Coulddowithanap · 05/09/2021 10:51

I now have around 8 tabs open of different items to buy. So close to buying a Phillips Lumea.

KLCD · 05/09/2021 12:51

how did you begin this? Everytime I attempt meal prep for family Dinners I only manage a few days worth! xx

ohthatbloodycat · 05/09/2021 13:15

@Farfalle88

I was the owner of a Eufy for a whole week, but then sold it on. It's so much more hassle than just whipping out the regular hoover!
I couldn't get on with it (the hair removal was a pain too) but people on here generally love them!

CoRhona · 05/09/2021 13:26

@ohthatbloodycat

Eufy: set timer, make sure easy release compartment of dust is emptied. Sit back and do nothing else while Eufy Hoovers.

Hoover: lug Hoover out of cupboard, empty dust bag / compartment, hoik it round each room to vacuum including lifting sofas to clean underneath.

How on earth is Eufy not easier?!

ohthatbloodycat · 05/09/2021 13:57

Because we're all different, with our own individual preferences.

Miele: take out the cupboard, and spend 30 seconds vacuuming the cat hair that the bastard! cat has left all over the sofa.

Eufy: as above

LemonDrizzles · 06/09/2021 19:05

Large washing machine net bags. Saves the bed sheets wrapping around everything else and never washing/drying properly. See also same washing machine net bags for washing bras and then occasionally using these for stockings.

ChiaraRimini · 06/09/2021 19:12

Dyson cordless vac for me is far better than robot hoover.
We have hard floors downstairs and the roomba just blew the dirt around. It also couldn't cope with doing more than one room at a time - ran out of charge leaving the job half done. (Big house)
The newer ones may be better but until they make one that can do stairs it's a no from me.

bluegreygreen · 06/09/2021 23:36

Those who have a robovac (Eufy or other) - can it deal with hair (human)?

I have long hair which sheds ☹️ and it's a problem for our regular vacuum (gets tangled round wheels). Can a robovac cope?
