@WestendVBroadway

Dinosaurs didn't actually exist. Somebody has actually just put the bones of several smaller animals together to form one large beast. I know it is only me who thinks that. My DH says he doesn't believe in God, because nobody who is alive today ever saw Jesus, I give him the same argument about dinosaurs!
This. I actually don’t believe they existed.

But the argument I use winds most people up.

‘Because it’s not mentioned in any of the religious books’ .

I grew up in a religious family but they believe dinosaurs did exist and when I questioned why it’s not written in our holy book, I was told to be quiet. 😂

Used to use the same line on an old work colleague who was an atheist and a man of science. All in good humour. It’s the only thing I could say which I knew would wind him up.

Regardless of my reason for why they didn’t exist I just don’t believe they did. There’s a reason why they don’t let you touch the Dino bones in the museum. Because if we did touch them they know we will realise they’re fake... think about it... papier mache bones.

And no one is allowed to argue the flaws in my theory thank you very much 😁

Moths are dead relatives coming to visit you so not to hurt them. Never hurt a moth ...

... until recently. We have a lot of moths upstairs . I’ve been killing them to avoid moth infestation.

oldwhyno · 24/08/2021 15:16

You don't HAVE to sneeze. Any sneeze can be avoided and you don't have to use your fingers, a tissue or anything like that, just sheer nasal concentration.

Goodvibesfamily · 24/08/2021 15:20

@Sattherelikealemon

Often when I think a mean or angry thought about someone I accidentally hurt myself. Not badly but say stubbed toe or funnybone level so quite sharp and not nice. It's happened countless times
This always happens to people that say something to me even in jest. Something happens to them straight away 😆
QueenBee52 · 24/08/2021 15:25

Mirrors keep memories ...

I kept my Mums mirrors after she died..

I like to think she sees me and I feel her 💕

lazylinguist · 24/08/2021 15:29

I don't believe in anything remotely supernatural, superstitious, religious or magical, and yet this...

I believe that the government has my best interests at heart. Those of my children too.

... strikes me as one of the more bonkers beliefs on the thread!

MaryBoBary · 24/08/2021 15:33

That man hasn't really landed on the moon. It was all a fake by NASA. To be honest I'm not up to date on space travel but I'm talking specifically about Neil Armstrong. The videos look so fake it is almost comical.

Well not all in museums are real bones (stone actually i.e fossilised) but replicas made from other materials like plaster via moulds taken from the originals. The real items are elsewhere in other museums or in storage for study and so on. Go to the Jurassic Coast and you'll see shops and museums full of the real deal. They did exist and you're at risk of appearing a fool for denying it. Grin

NoNoThankYou · 24/08/2021 15:41

@Sattherelikealemon Me too!

And while I know, logically, that it's most likely because I've been distracted by my own ire and so been clumsy, I often mutter, "OK, fair enough" to 'whoever' has 'decided' to gently punish me Grin

So why did they not make it super real like 2001 a Space Odyssey? Maybe because they had analogue transmission from low def TV cameras transmitting over 384,400 km. By the way, they definitely did go. If they hadn't the Russians, who tracked them and all their radio communication, have never outed it as otherwise, which they would have. Not 'believing' is actually somewhat more 'comical'.

I hate finding money on the floor. If I do and I take it, three bad things always happen to me.

See what I mean?!!!!! Replicas! And the REAL items are in ‘storage’ for ‘study’ or at ‘other museums’. Sure thing.

Two words... papier mache

BeauxRingarde · 24/08/2021 15:51

Dinosaurs didn't actually exist

You've never seen a bird? Birds are extant dinosaurs.

MaryBoBary · 24/08/2021 15:51

Clearly I was right to post that on this thread. No need to be rude about it though.

Wow yeah, it's really obvious when you put it like that! Because they let you go and play with all the other museum exhibits, juggle with the Roman vases etc! Oh hang on... Grin

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

Humans did once have tails
Absolute rubbish.
Derrymum123 · 24/08/2021 16:01

Little people exist and you don't cross them. They've special powers we don't understand. Not sure I believe in dinosaurs. The physics of how they moved etc. Just blows my mind too much. Husband just rolls eyes or tries to explain but I am sure I am right. My world is more fun.

Phyllis321 · 24/08/2021 16:01

I say ‘Good morning captain, where’s your wife?’ whilst saluting to lone magpies.

noblegreenk · 24/08/2021 16:03

I believe that my dreams let me know when something bad is going to happen. I know it sounds crazy but it happens to me all the time.

I used to have night terrors as a child but grew out of these as I got older. Then when I was 29 they started again, every single night. My Mum had a very painful leg at the time and was eventually referred for tests by her GP who suspected arthritis. It turned out that she had terminal bone cancer. As soon as we found out her diagnosis the night terrors stopped. Same thing happened in the weeks prior to finding out my Dad had bowel cancer - and I didn't even know he'd been having symptoms or tests. I've not long found out I may lose my job of 15yrs and I was having daily night terrors for two weeks beforehand. These are just the examples I can think of off the top of my head but there's so many more that just these ones.

I don't actually believe in anything woo or ghosty. I think I subconsciously pick up on cues in my environment, and the night terrors are my subconscious mind's way of trying to communicate these things to my conscious mind. I told my husband about this (including my explanation) and he said I was losing the plot, so I've not mentioned it to anyone else since!

DaddyCool60 · 24/08/2021 16:07

@Acqua32. That's no proof they didn't exist though. If you had a print of the Mona Lisa on your wall would you not believe it was ever a real painting?

peaceanddove · 24/08/2021 16:09

That my cancer diagnosis last year was the price I had to pay for the rest of my life being so lovely.

This is hard to explain but I think that good people (like me!) aren’t actually any better than criminals and people who do bad things. How do I not know that I wouldn’t be like that if I had their upbringing/life? All humans are just a mix of genes and then their life experiences.

This is hard to reckon with when you meet truly nasty people but then again....why are they like that? Aren’t they, like me, just trying to meet their human needs? Theirs just happen to be a bit fucked up. And how do I know that if I was inside their body and not mine since birth that I would be any different?

youdoyoutoday · 24/08/2021 16:11

When I see a lone magpie, I've always said "hello Mr magpie how's your lovely wife today?" as I thought that was the speil to remove the bad luck.

Also, I believe that if you keep the curtains closed all the time then the room gets depressed and you eventually feel it, so to keep a room happy you have to open the curtains on a regular basis.
