I've seen this appalling ad a few times

Two young children dangling upside down by their knees, eating cheese in the hope that if they eat it upside down it will feed their brains

It took me a while to catch what it was actually advertising, but now I know, I am making a formal complaint

I cant believe how utterly stupid and irresponsible this is an as example to junior school aged children

@burritofan

most children have access to cheese, and places to hang upside down The MN middle class privilege bubble at work again, NOT every child has a place to hang upside down
every child has access to a place to hang upside down, unless they are locked inside for life

@sweeneytoddsrazor

This OP not only has 2 jobs it is also running a marathon with very little training but its ok cos she will have a belt with cartons of orange juice attached to it.
haha! Brilliant! Thank you!

mocking someone's achievements and aspirations is a form of bullying normally resulting from the bully attempting to compensate for feeling that their own achievements and aspirations are poorer.

This is being copied straight into the KS3 unit on bullying that I am writing. ( anonymised - although it will be referenced as coming from Mumsnet)

You have saved me a job of trawling through social media to find an example next week

Keep a check on your children's PSHE homework if they are in KS3, you might find yourself starring in it!

@mysterian
I know my lad started just sniffing Gorgonzola and now he's sullen and his face is covered in rind.

Guavaf1sh · 23/08/2021 19:42

Stand down now OP. You’re embarrassing yourself

NotMyCat · 23/08/2021 19:46

I took 999 ambulance calls for a decade and never once had anyone choking from being upside down and eating
Fish bones, grapes, coins, marbles, sweets yes. Never cheese

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 23/08/2021 19:46

Eh? The last time I read this thread you were a biologist working for the NHS?!

Op are you being a bit mis cheese vious?

titchy · 23/08/2021 19:46

You could use the same example for the unit on social media trolls and how to spot them Wink You're welcome.

HotPinkTeaSet · 23/08/2021 19:48

Big question is - is Dairylea a poor imitation of Laughing Cow. And where does Primula fit into all this? And who decided the best way to serve soft cheese would be in triangles?

MolyHolyGuacamole · 23/08/2021 19:49

so you understand how dangerous it is to put this example in front of children, if it makes even a (presumably) sensible, normally educated adult think or joke about doing it?

It's you that's making people joke about doing it.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 23/08/2021 19:49

I shall make myself available for autographs

WorraLiberty · 23/08/2021 19:53

Wow, you certainly have an extensive CV OP.

A teacher, working in A&E, a biologist, volunteering in mental health, housing refugees in your own home, a foster carer and looking at becoming an extinction rebellion activist?

Good luck with the marathon.

anon12345678901 · 23/08/2021 19:54

😂😂😂 we clearly can't all be as fabulous, albeit maybe delusional, in life. An NHS biologist who works in A&E, and also teaches in Education at the same time and writing a KS3 unit and training for a marathon, whilst being on Mumsnet. It's amazing.

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/08/2021 19:54

You are person of many talents.

BobMortimersPetOwl · 23/08/2021 19:55

I've nearly choked on my biscuit and brew reading this batshit lunacy.

So actually I think the biggest danger is lunatics on the Internet who fantasise about having worked in a hospital.

Well I'd argue that Bel Paese is the queen of soft squeezie cheezies and that's round.

What are you going to call your cheesy bulking lesson OP? Camembert leave it? Backward Boursin bullying!

It's as Gouda reason as any.
Bollockstothat · 23/08/2021 20:11

Thanks for starting this thread OP, it's made me laugh havartily. I've been feeling a bit stressed so it's been a great paneeracea.

I’m also impressed op. And thr ks3 unit on bullying. Plus you’re retirement age and look in yout twenties. However do you do it?
BigRedFrog · 23/08/2021 21:06

@HotPinkTeaSet What about the poor cheese slice?
Won't anyone please think of the poor cheese slice??

It's all gone a bit en-menntal in here.

HotPinkTeaSet · 23/08/2021 21:11

Orange plastic cheese slices are the absolute shit. Love ‘em. And, as far as I’m aware, they’ve been connected to no known fatalities.

BigRedFrog · 23/08/2021 21:23

@HotPinkTeaSet well not yet no, but have you tried hanging upside down while eating one?
We need to know these things.

HotPinkTeaSet · 23/08/2021 21:24

I haven’t but I have tomorrow off work, so will try with an ambulance crew on standby.

00100001 · 23/08/2021 21:33

To be fair to OP,she never said she worked as a biologist in A&E.

She said she is a biologist.

And she has worked in A&E.

It's like I am a historian (did history Degree) and I had a job working the night shift as a porter at A&E during my studies.

Takes more than a degree to be considered a historian, to be fair

I am not a psychologist despite having done a psychology degree
