I’ve just re-watched A Star is Born and sobbed like there’s no tomorrow. Made me think about other films that have hit me hard.
Green Mile is another real sob fest.

Any others? I’d like to build a ‘I need a good cry’ collection Grin

Bambi when his mum gets shot

GinLimeandLemonade · 21/08/2021 20:28

Moana gets me every time, the bit near the beginning where her Grandma dies 😭 and then later on where her soul comes back and talks to her 😭😭

And Coco made me sob, I've only watched it once, last year not long before my Gran died, so not sure I can manage it again any time soon 💔

The Toy Story films have moments that make me cry.

Kids films really get to me 🤦‍♀️

Looubylou · 21/08/2021 20:29

Dumbo - the original one. When my mum took me to see this they still had an interval in cinemas and there were big red velvet curtains over the screen.

BrendaBulldog · 21/08/2021 20:30

Dumbo
Marley and Me
Green Mile
Armageddon

tadpole39 · 21/08/2021 20:31

The fault in our stars. Watched with my teen daughter. She was watching a tragic teen love story, I was watching parents lose their child. I had to stuff my hands inside my mouth to stop from braying so many times!

ThistleTits · 21/08/2021 20:31

I recently watched Father with Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Coleman. I think it's the first time I have cried at a film since my teenage years.
If you want to an understanding of dementia, that is the one to watch.

SwimmyG · 21/08/2021 20:32

Seven Pounds
Pay it Forward
Charlie St Cloud
Million Dollar Baby
Dead Poets Society
A Walk to Remember
The Power of One

Thank you for the warning. I understand more about dementia than I want to. You’ve saved me a lot of distress.

The notebook - actual sobs every time

Toomuchspinning · 21/08/2021 20:37

The Notebook and In Pursuit of Happiness both do me in.

SummersOverSeasideTown · 21/08/2021 20:38

I watched a star is born on a plane, I fucking wept whilst trying to hide it.
The sixth sense made me weep so much I had to leave.

Deedoubleyou · 21/08/2021 20:38

Madame X, Imitation of Life, Terms of Endearment, Steel Magnolias, Stepmom, My Girl, Beaches, Judy.

tattymacduff · 21/08/2021 20:39

@Thecazelets

The (original version) Railway Children (the bit at the end) has me in bits just thinking about it.
Daddy my daddy! Gets me every time.
ajja2021 · 21/08/2021 20:40

My sisters keeper

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/08/2021 20:41

So many of these already mentioned (especially Dancer in the Dark) but special shoutout to The Incredible Journey here. Sometimes my DP likes to wind me up by describing the final scenes just to see if he can get me to cry. (Every time, yes.)

tattymacduff · 21/08/2021 20:43

Monster. I had to go and sit in the bathroom alone as I was crying so much.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 21/08/2021 20:43

Disclaimer
I am hopelessly sentimental and a cryer. I am everyone's Mum and really feel so much-very bad a stiff upper lip. Like a PP I did some psychometric testing for work and my empathy score off the charts. It is both a release and a trial!

Up, the Toy Stories, Coco< Wall-E

Dunkirk-Because as I watched I realised if it was today it would be my DS's and their friends and it really hit home

it's a wonderful life- a christmas tradition to cry. When Harry comes in

at the end and makes the toast to his big brother george- absolute floods

Stand by Me, ET Dead Poets Society

Love Story-almost can't beat thinking about it-def ugly cry at this one @WorraLiberty

Remains of the Day

Terms of endearment
This. I cried so hard the lovely couple from upstairs came down as they were worried🙄. The bit where she's dying in the bed and her son is angry with her. She tells him that she knows that he really loves her and he's not to feel bad for how he has behaved, after she dies, as she knows he really loved her. Broke my heart.
Theforest · 21/08/2021 20:44

Castaway.
Schlinders List.

Hoolihan · 21/08/2021 20:44

I cry at everything but the ones that have really had me on the floor are Dancer in the Dark, starring Bjork, Brokeback Mountain (oh my god, the music!), Empire of the Sun and Awakenings, starring Robert De Niro.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 21/08/2021 20:44

Sorry-don't know why < is in first line of films-not deliberate

Mamamamasaurus · 21/08/2021 20:46

Another vote for Steel Magnolias. Even though I bolster myself each time, buckets.

Me and DC watched a film a couple of months ago, about a dog who gets lost and makes his way home.... Again - buckets. I'm not even a dog lover.

SkylarFerris · 21/08/2021 20:46

The curious life of Benjamin Button. When he forgets how to speak and when he simply disappears- it makes me cry every time.
Lion.

Callmejudith · 21/08/2021 20:46

Paddington 2. I cry just thinking about it!
